I think they describe how Pearl's gem works in one of the comics.
Maybe steven is inside her gem or dream
I feel like pearls, since they're made to be slaves basically, have that storage feature so whomever owned them can use them as a bag basically.
Jim Vickers Peridot said herself that Pearls are expected to hold things for their masters.
Right, and we've seen in a very early episode that she stores things in her gem. Like that caution tape for example. And with that being the case, I feel like only really pearls would have this ability. Considering Rose needed Lion to store her items in, instead of her own gem.
Jim Vickers I also wonder if Pearls can hold more stuff than any other Gem. It seems like an extremely useful ability that hasn't been used recently, just like the other Crystal Gem powers.
Also, this may sound morbid, but if a Pearl stores something in her gem and is shattered, does the stuff inside the gem cease to exist? I have a hard time thinking it would be like breaking a full chest in Minecraft.

So THAT'S where Lapis was all those years! I wouldn't be surprised if every Gem has her own pocket dimension but Pearl is the only one who uses it to store actual things besides her weapon. She really really likes to be organized.

Just realised this whole bit of Pearl organising items in her gem is essentially the crewniverse explaining why Pearl was seemingly able to summon stuff from her gem (which also means Pearl stored Lapis, another gem, within her own gem).

Not the Gem as the entryway specifically, but that Steven can heal Corruption by entering the minds of Gems to mend them both inside and out.
Pearl's tidy storage system will likely be the complete antithesis of the inside of a corrupted Jasper.
She was messed up before (which might be visualised as a cluttered room full of hurtful memories), but now that this madness has befallen her, it will likely be a nightmarescape of aimless hate and regret.
We might even get to see a big setpiece of Stevonnie fighting the corrupted Jasper inside her own mind because Steven needs additional support (maybe just mental fortitude so he won't be overwhelmed) to wrangle her, or because Connie may know some things about patient care or de-escalation through her parents.
The last time Steven faced an upset Gem (Bismuth), he did not have the power or the knowledge to defuse the situation, after all.

deffdefying Severe PTSD is a precursor/coexisting always. It comes from severe trauma causing a fracture to a person’s “core personality” creating more of a “fractured personality”. It is usually caused in childhood and often misdiagnosed many times. Each “fracture” is a part of the self or AKA an “alter” - and each were “created” (usually unconsciously) as a response to trauma as a protection. So you might have a part or alter that tends to “attach” “fight” “flight”, etc likely archetypes parts fall under.
Sorry if my text isn’t making much sense. Do feel free to ask more clarifying questions
@Grace Louise Phillips Agreed. It's definitely possible for some people to have their fractured personality linked and not split the pieces off into new personalities. That's what I have. I retain my sense of self but refer to older memories with my younger self not as me. It's for a variety of reasons (dissociation, easier way to swallow the PTSD trauma, giving myself a sense of not having been alone in the trauma).
When you get down to it, all mental disorders can manifest in a variety of ways, but humans like to group everything so sometimes radical representations are the "thumbnail" of a disorder. :(

New theory!!! Did rose quartz put pink diamond inside her own gem? Like Steven going into pearls gem?! Would this be why Steven has such a connection to the diamonds? My "theory" is that Pearl cant actually summon a weapon (since shes not a Quartz) but rather stores a bunch of spears in her gemstone and simply pulls one out whenever she needs one.
That means that shes running out of spears.
These are both great ideas! I feel like we may see her loose spears in flashbacks. The fact that the first one is missing is especially eye catching to me. Can't wait to see this episode.

Boy this leaves me with a lot more questions than answers.
First off, if gems can store items inside themselves, then why is Amethyst's room in the temple such a mess? Why doesn't Steven, bearer of Rose's gem have this ability? This storage feature seems to be something only our pearl can do.
At first, I thought the pearl inside Pearl was just holo-pearl, as that would explain why they have mass and can poof Pearl, but this thing acts completely different. Kind of like a hard drive on a computer. Most of the gems act like computers, actually, except the ones in Pink Diamond's command. The amethysts running the zoo and the Crystal Gems. But, I guess if you're just a cog in the machine, I guess that's how computers work. Everything lives for a purpose.
Anyways, this is probably just a last-minute write in ability pearl has in order to deus ex machina an explanation of what happened to Rose.
...Either that, or Pearl is a fusion of multiple pearls of extremely identical shape and feature. But that's unlikely.
I feel it was confirmed multiple times that only Pearls store items (aside from what Peridot said about Pearls at the barn). Maybe other gems have a limited ability to store, or can only store gem-related items.
Perhaps just having so many dimensions of herself causes Pearl to be overloaded and unable to explain Gem War activities.
I don't think it's deus ex machina or a Pearl fusion. I think Pearl's mind being this way was always in the cards (just my guess based off of how the crew plots the story arcs and quality character writing) and like you said about the computer drive, maybe it's possible that Pearls were computed (gems are basically computers) to have so many dimensions in order to not only physically store information but also mentally.
Steven and Garnet go inside Pearl's gem in an official comic, and I always wondered why Steven never physically entered her gem before in the tv series.
While watching this I couldn't help wonder... say all gems have another themselves in their gems... does this include Steven? and then I thought... would Rose be in that gem or another Steven? xD

As for how gems whose weapons are summoned directly onto the body part like Garnet and Jasper probably work the same as gems like Pearl who grab and pull their weapon out. The reason Pearl has to grab and pull is because otherwise the spear would just fall to the ground. Garnet’s gauntlets and Jasper’s helmet fit snugly enough so that when they’re summoned they don’t fall.

Dude....this is so close to what I commented on another theory video it's scary.
I brought up when Pearl had Lapis in her gem and theorised that Rose put Pink Diamond's gem in her own as she couldn't bring herself to shatter her. From Pearl and the other Crystal Gem's perspective, it would look like she shattered her, which is why Garnet's flashback is different from what we know. Also this explains Steven's connection to Blue Diamond(seeing through her eyes and crying her tears) as well as having that flashback with Pink Diamond herself when falling asleep as Stevonnie(whether it's the location or fusion that caused this, I"m still not sure of, possibly the location triggered the memory while the fusion affected the scenery of the vision at the start)
So in short: Steven is not Pink Diamond but he does have Pink Diamond bubbled in his gem that his mother, Rose Quartz, forgot or chose not to remove before giving birth to Steven as the ultimate hiding place. A way to end the war without taking a life of a gem so child-like.

...I'm sorry to be the wet towel, but I REALLY don't like how the Crewniverse has handled this idea. It seems like they didn't think it through at all. To me, the only reason for Steven to physically travel into Pearl's gem is for the 'wow betcha didnt see that coming' factor. Allow me to elaborate:
The main reason this baffles me is that it has nothing to do with Steven's mental abilities--dream-walking, body posession, etc. His powers are a pre-existing solution to this problem; Steven and Pearl talk, Pearl can't say what she wants to, Steven has the idea for her to try sleeping and he can try to dream-walk into her mind so they can talk there. It may not have the 'gotcha' factor, but it's internally consistent.
The 'journey-to-the-center-of-the-gem' thing, on the other hand? Is not consistent with knowledge we've been given in the past, and it raises a TON of questions that will probably never be answered. The biggest question being, is the Pearlscape a physical subspace, or a representation of Pearl's mind?
Steven's physical body has entered Pearl's gem, rather than just his mind reaching out to her. So, that should be his real body, shrunken, inside Pearl's subspace storage, interacting with the Tiny Pearls. If it is a physical subspace, that means there really are multiple Tiny Pearls inside Pearl's head, and on and on like nesting dolls, and that the mindscapes exist in miniscule form within Pearl. How does that work?
If it is a representation of Pearl's mind, on the other hand, why did Steven even enter Pearl's gem? Is his body just floating in a subspace filled with random objects while his mind is interacting with Pearl's mind? Is there oxygen in there for him to breathe? If the Crew is trying to go with the idea that the Pearlscape is a wholy mental construct, then this is DEFINITELY a case of needless complication, since the same effect could be easily achieved using my above suggestion which is, again, internally consistent.
Sure, 'Both at the same time somehow' could be an answer, but that's the equivalent of 'we don't know and we don't want to try and explain it, just roll with it because it's neat'.
TL;DR, the 'Nesting Pearls' are a bad idea because it's a needlessly complex way of solving a problem that has an existing, much simpler solution in the form of steven's dream-walking powers. It's a sloppy attempt at worldbulding, merely applying a nifty idea without thinking that idea through to its logical conclusion.

About the oxygen part. In Bubbled they literally talked in space. The moonbase and Homeworld have breathable air although gems dont need to breathe. The crewniverse doesnt care about logic.
....Alright, that's fair. The Crewniverse doesn't, but I guess that's what trots on my nerves the most. I like this show, but I have to turn off my brain to enjoy it, because it's full of great ideas... that are wasted on mediocre execution. As if, because 'it's for kids', they don't need to fully think things through that they could easily explain if they just gave a crap.
For instance, the atmosphere-in-the-Moon-base thing. We can infer the Steven’s bubble produces oxygen, from the episode where he and Connie were stuck in one. How hard would it have been for a Gem to tell Steven, “Hey, buddy, bubble up so you can frickin’ breathe.” He could’ve, I dunno, bubbled his head like an astronaut or something.
As for the atmosphere, of course one is needed inside the building so sound can travel, but every time the door is opened, the atmosphere is sucked out. So, why not just give the entrance an airlock room? Sardonyx could have whacked MegaRuby hard enough to send her smashing through a wall by accident, thus sucking Steven out and leading into the Steven vs. Eyeball scene.
If that floor needed to be whole later for something like what they’re about to do with Lapis and the Hologram Room, say the base’s Repair Robonoids were activated once damage to the base was registered and they fixed the hole, before the Atmosphere Generators replenished the supply.

The Gems have made clear, at this point, that their society runs on very advanced technology. But, story-wise, this utilized as a hand-wave. 'The science is so far advanced it's basically magic and you can't question it.' The Crewniverse might as well just give up and call it magic.
It's like, the Show vs. the Tell. The characters tell us things about their world, like it's hard sci-fi with rules to how these things work. Not like, 'everything must be based fully in real science' rules, but rules that are, at the very least, internally consistent and not obvious logical flaws. But at the same time, they never give us any explanations for obvious questions, and they treat their ‘science’ like a soft magic system.

What do you mean by "spoilers will be out for a week"? You do realise that fans in other countries that don't even speak english have to go watch the english-dubbed episodes before they get dubbed in their native languages just to keep up with the community right? So what stops you guys from going to a portuguese-dubbed, english-subbed episode?

A gem representation of comparmentalizing. Both because Pearl is a neat freak but also the trauma she suffered from the Gem Wars.
You should read the comics, there's one where Pearl is "sick" and Steven goes into her head to remove whatever it was she can't handle. (I forgot what, it was one of the first comics.) There's a full library of information, and while I don't remember there being a Pearl there, the idea of a vast storage in her gem was given to us very early on. Steven was still pretty oblivious then, so that goldmine of info was ignored.

I think the Pearl-ception is unique to Pearls because they are known as companion/accessories so they have the unique ability to store items. But, I do believe inside each gem is like being in their subconscious mind, just without the material goods except their weapons.
