    Sedona’s biggest secret is what it looked like before the development. Remember the rock formations, particularly coffee pot rock. Then watch old westerns like the original 3:10 to Yuma or Broken Arrow. You may not like the movies but you get to appreciate scenery prior to building everywhere.

    • @TimKollat
      @TimKollat Před 2 lety +1

      yep, and just not that long ago before social media/youtube came along Sedona wasnt that crowded. Thanks to youtube/social media its now become a disaster.
      Investors buy up any house that comes on the market and turns it into an AirBnB rental. Locals can not even buy or rent anything as the investors take up everything and not the prices have gotten so out of hand, most people who work in Sedona cant even live there but have to come in from Verde Valley, Flag or Cottonwood.

    Thank you so much for sharing. I live in the Phoenix area and it’s been a while since I’ve been to Sedona. It definitely is a special place and you leave feeling refreshed. I’ve always wanted to go to the vortex. I’ve read there are a number of them there it’s a spiritual place. The red rocks are so beautiful and going to Oak Creek Canyon is beautiful. This has inspired me to take a drive up there soon.

    • @JimmyandNatalie
      @JimmyandNatalie  Před 2 lety +1

      @nita642 The vortex was definitely well worth the detour 😄 It was so peaceful and serene to be there and listen to the music they were playing from on top of the spire. Even though there was a large group of people there, it was still so quiet. If we had more time, we'd love to search for some more of those spots 😊

    Sedona scenery is lovely. The traffic and amount of people not so much. Growing up in Arizona, Sedona was a much different place 40 years ago. It was very serene. I remember a Taste-Freeze (ice cream store) on the cliff of Oak Creek Canyon with a rope behind the store for using to climb down to the water or just swinging into the water hole. Sedona has become so commercialized and congested that we choose to only go to the outskirts of town now, if we can help it. You have kind of made my point in that Mickie D's was a highlight of your trip, though I'm glad to see that you are enjoying yourselves. LOL I hope you get to find some parking so that you can enjoy the hikes which are spectacular. :)

    one of the main reasons why Sedona has become so ridiculously crowded over past years are youtube videos, social media in general. When we go to Cathedral we get there before sunrise otherwise forget about getting a spot.
    Now they are going to stop letting people drive in and have to be shuttled in.
    Sedona is becoming like Disneyland, crowds and crowds of people, shuttle buses..etc
    Used to be a nice relaxing place to be, but social media has ruined that.
    There are still a few hikes that are not crowded because they are real actual hikes that take most the day and generally tourists dont want to do those, but places like Cathedral, Bell Rock, Devils Bridge forget it unless you like massive crowds no matter what day of the week.

    Energy vortexes aside, it sure is pretty. Definitely an area I want to go to some day.

    Spectacular Video, educational, practical info. It makes you wonder where all the people in those cars are right? They weren't ALL on YOUR trail were they?

    I am supposed to be heading to Sedona in a couple of weeks but I'm not so sure if I want to with all of this. I have a 21 foot class c which is about the size of the bus. 30 years ago, this was never an issue. Sorry I'd rather cook ramen in the camper than eat anything from McD's., there has to be better options. Amazon lockers will be my go-tos for life on the road. I will avoid the weekends and get up at 4a.m. to find parking. How was it to find camping? Hiking up is cool but going down looks so dangerous. Oh well, guess I'll be seeing it for myself.

    OMG! No way am I doing that climb you both did.......but you are young! We came out here from Michigan off and on for over 10 years and now live out here. Have been hiking a lot of the trails and found that the Sedona trails are very difficult to find parking at. We've managed to get to several though but not to the Subway yet. I think I may go part way but I turn 60 the first week of April and would like to have another 20 or 30 years to enjoy life so I think I will skip that last trail hike in the cave you did! Keep having fun because that is what you should do..... :)

      I turn 60 on April 4th. Happy Birthday to you. The fact that you look forward to another 20 or 30 years gives me hope. I haven't been too happy about this birthday.

    I enjoyed your videos of Sedona and the Red rock country!
    Not sure of your time line, but I have lived and traveled in Arizona for over 50 years, it’s beautiful from south to north, east to west. If you plan on going up through northern Arizona, here are some beautiful places to see. In the Flagstaff area- Walnut Canyon is amazing. Way up north, Lake Powell, Marble Canyon, Navajo bridge, Lee’s Ferry (you can rent kayaks and they will tow you up river, you float back to Lee’s Ferry. The Vermilion Cliffs, The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is in my opinion, prettier than the South Rim, it’s more remote. There are places on the north side where you can drive out to the canyon, no guard rails or tourist places (Timp Point) is one but it’s a long drive on dirt roads, Saguaro might not like it too much! Southern Utah is amazing Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, the Cedar Breaks! I love love the west, so much to take in! God bless your travels!
    I wish I was 20 again!
