  • We can often think about prayer as a shopping list - going to God and asking him to do this, this and this.
But prayer is so much more than that - it’s a relationship!
It’s about opening our hearts to allow God to fill our lives with his presence, his wisdom and his love.
Whatever we are bringing to God - our joys or our sorrows, our hope or our despair - nothing is ever lost with God.
He hears all of our prayers. And when we pray with open hearts, we deepen our relationship with him.
In this session we explore what it means to pray and how you can get started if you've never tried before - or if you need a bit of a refresher, which we all do from time to time!
    ***
You can find the full series of Exploring Prayer here: www.archbishop...
I’d love to know how you get on, so do let me know in the comments.
    Blessings,
    ++Justin

I’m a Hindu Brahmin by birth!
But I never connected with Hinduism, I have been always ignoring God & been a sort of an atheist & there were some days when I felt love for God and some days where I don’t care about God at all, but I’ve always been attracted/drawn by Christianity & Jesus Christ!!!!
I started praying a few days ago to Jesus Christ & I have found an unexplainable peace that I couldn’t find while praying to any other God or Hinduism! Praying has given me so much peace, contentment & it’s like I belong to Jesus. I feel I am home now!
It’s strange that I never read the Bhagwad Gita and it never interested me at all, but when I read the Bible for the first time, I instantly connected to it! I felt a connection, a kind of familiarity like it’s my home!
I feel like I had been wandering my whole life and now I’ve found my own God & that is Jesus!
Maybe I was born in the wrong religion, wrong family, I should have been born in a Christian family!
I need your blessings, The Respected Justin Welby!
I thank you for these videos, they are very helpful to me and maybe so many others who are beginners in Christianity! 🙏😊

C = Confession. Be honest and tell God of your sins and ask him to forgive you. (I once heard Archbishop Welby suggest "To turn away from one's sins and turn towards God."
T = Thanksgiving. Thank God for all that he has blessed you with and bestowed upon you.
S = Supplification. As God your father is the source of all creation...ask him for what you need.
      End with the Lord's prayer.

We honour the baby Jesus by listening to the holy spirit that he sends to teach and guide and is the word of God, we each need to listen to the spirit and not ourselves. God's plan cannot fail, so we trust totally in the teaching of the spirit,we must dump our own imaginations, we need inner eyes and ears.

Respected and Dear Arch bishop of Canterbury, greetings from Charles Chennai in India. Thank you for your wonderful values of prayer. I thank God for your transformative ministry and Prayer for peace and love, It's really brings amazing happiness in to me and my oppressed people. Prayer is the final hope for all of us in Jesus Christ. Because we are speechless and shut up people. We never raise our voice for our genuine life. Our hope is in Jesus Christ the liberator. His love motivates us to love the rejected elders who are helpless in this society and the needy people who are at the margin. Dear Arch bishop your compassionate love towards our broken people is wonderful. Prayer brings victory and new life. The prayer empowers me and my broken community towards the transformation and liberation. Thank you Bishop. Our prayers

Not that I was or wasn’t ‘getting it wrong’, but I see now that there was a certain rigidity and an attempt at manipulation on my part, driven by fear of punishment. Fantastic video - thank you. It it so right when you say that the hardest part is starting. For me, it's convincing myself that I can sit still to just think about one thing only, and not a thousand at the same time, for more than two minutes! But it is so encouraging that this series has started - it is an inspiration to recognise that no matter how difficult I find it to be still, it has to be done and it will lead to beautiful things.

All the right words ,from everyone of course. Why not visit the food banks, the homeless shelter, the dispossessed the displaced, the oppressed the weak and broken, and offer sanctuary free of charge to the millions who need the church for sanctuary and pray all I see us ever more eletism it is the way of the world and so ever increasing the church ,the opposite of Jesus teaching, return to Jesus.

Wow, prayer boot camp, I love it, thanks - timing = perfect! It's a big year for my work in the Environment, lots to do and while I might find excuses to not give up the time, I will now, as I shall remember what you said; the time spent will be valuable in many ways.

I really like Justin Welby, seems like a genuine heart felt guy. Mr Welby if you are reading this, I too have found that in the hardest and most troublesome times in my life prayer and faith in the lord has helped me though. Plus a lot of forgiveness.

We can often think about prayer as a shopping list - going to God and asking him to do this, this and this.

The fact that the church puts all events on in the evening, and has almost done away with matins ,excludes probably excludes one third of the population who can't or do not want to go out at night.

The answer to all of life's problems is to teach the reality of god and the teaching of Jesus those who are unjust, racist, oppressive, greedy, malicious simply don't have right belief, which is where the church comes in ,to stop putting self first ,and submit to God's will and good works follow ,just as Luther st Paul and Tynedale teach us Roman's. That way even rich people can get into heaven.

Being an Atheist I take no comfort from Myths, I enjoy the life my Parents brought me into. I regarded Religion as an interference to education. Historically this has / is true. Living an afterlife with genuflecting and prayer for an eternity must be Hell.

We need to convince God we don't want war, because looking down from heaven it must look like we do with every country with its arms and military ,to enforce the law God probably thinks war is humankinds Hearts desire, and so he grants us our Hearts desire, lets try convincing God we would much rather live by the teaching of his son.

Separation segregation barriers need to be eroded away bit by bit. At school, at work, within the religious community. In the market place in our love life it will be many generations before old hatreds fade but persecution and obtaining by military force, and gun walls and fences .imposed first by outsiders has only led to bitter division. Let the people see the different faiths in harmony and their children and in the market place and let the wall crumble thats my prayer

Thank you so much for these videos. I can't tell you how helpful and encouraging I have found them - supportive, down to earth and honest. I'm going to try to be better at that - just sitting and being with God, not thinking too much about what I should say, but letting my heart lead. Thank you. ♡
