Dude! I love the cheeky attitude and pace of this video. In fact, the more sassy Blake we get the better.
Haha! Sometimes it comes out and I just can't stop it! No sense shooting left or right when you can just shoot it straight 🤣
Great stuff - thanks for the clear explanations Blake. My favorite here is the Gradient Workflow enhancements!
Mine too 😍
SUPER!!! Thanks Blake for showing and demonstrating these new functionalities!!! Great!
My pleasure!
I was playing in the Beta version for the removal tool and found that selecting too many objects caused it to mess up more often. If I stuck to one or two items then let it work it seemed to sample better and give better results. I haven't gotten the "update" yet in my area but am excited to use the gradient when I get the update. Thanks for the update information and quick lesson Blake
I beat it up both ways. I prefer a single spot at a time too, just how my mind works. I think it's pretty powerful!
,,,just the info we need to fully understand the workings of this new update. Thanx again, Blake!
My pleasure.
I've been using the Remove tool in the Beta version for 2-3 weeks and had pretty much the same reaction as you - I was floored at how well it works!!! Glad it's now officially out!👍
It's good stuff!
@@beegees21 I've used all of their tools from the beginning for patching and repairing and this is by far the best IMO. It repairs areas very well without repeated patterns. That's what's amazing, but hey some people just aren't or don't want to be impressed. It's all good
In the new gradient tool you can also double click on the control points to select color or click to pickup color from the picture itself. Awesome !!!
I have seen the generative AI and it makes me want to give up photography and go back to Golf. Glad you arent showing it.
haha! One day I will, but I'm not sure how much I'll use it. Its a polarizing concept, huh?
This will open new doors of creation.

Scary good. I have been to Panther Creek Falls several times. Never had that much water. Thanks for this intro to the new tools
Great video...your excitement over new toys(tools) is contagious...great job.
😁 I love this stuff! Lol
Can always depend on Blake to tell you what's new, how to use it, and most importantly, why it is helpful in your workflow. Thanks Blake - excellent as usual!!
😁 I love what I get to do for a living!
Great video, again, Blake 👌 As for removing the tree trunk, I think you have to drag the brush in the direction of the object to remove it - then the algorythm recognizes what you want to remove and what to preserve😎
I did that. I think because it was too close to the edge it was confused. Older tools struggle with edges too. That trick of fixing the edge first is what I did with the older tools too.
Great tutorial it is a pretty amazing features they’ve added!!
love the removal tool, looking forward to editing photos after my trip to DET
Thanks for your very informative videos! My PS is up to date but I don’t have the tools you show in the healing tools.
You may have to add it to your toolbar.
Thank you so much Blake for the very informative and helpful video! Great news! You're awesome! God bless you and good luck!
My pleasure! God bless you as well my friend!
@@f64Academy Thank you so much Blake!
As always another great tutorial……nice to see you made it out to the Pacific Northwest Vista house and and waterfall.
It's a beautiful place out there!
Thanks for the info! It helps to know what I'm getting with my next upgrade!
This is not Beta, this is on the current version. It's already out.
Thank you for this information about the new update I made a few minutes ago. I use Photoshop since 1993 and every new update makes me happy.
100% agreed!
Bloat ware since 2012, subscription models are terrible
@@SoulofStatic Why? I always get the recent update!
@@robertolazary2807 well yeah every update is a slightly improved product but it isn't always worth it.
Thanks again for the wonderful instructional video. I noticed how well the brush you used for the CLONE stamp removal of the branch did. Could you tell me what brush this is? I tried but couldn't locate it. Thank you.
Great explanation. Love that gradient feature. That will be highly useful.
Gradients are the best and they just got better!
Thank you!
Fantastic. Remove tool is major tool in affinity photo so it's great to see finally in ps
There were definitely other ways to do this in PS before that were very good, but this is much better, a whole new level better than the other tools.
As someone who creates a lot of composites, I like these new tools! I don't download the Ps betas...but I've had more misses than hits with the Web-based Firefly. Perhaps the Ps beta iteration is better. There is no outpainting to expand images in the Web version. The Remove Tool seems great, based on your vid.
Thanks for the overview!!!
My pleasure!
Great video! Thank you for it. Question, When I make a radial or gradient, I don't see the adjustment lines like the ones in your video. How can I activate those visual adjustment lines?
I had to do a little digging to find the tool, but it is really AWESOME and I know it'll come in as handy as a shirt pocket! Thanks for explaining Blake!
Lol, I like that one! Gonna have to use that sometime.
@@f64Academy 😎👍🏻👍🏻😎
'it'll come in as handy as a shirt pocket' - yes, but without looking so naff 😁
@@davidf6326 Hmmm, I guess I’m not very stylish. Oh well… 😔
@@TC_Conner Me neither 😊
Thanks for the great lesson, Blake. Photoshop seems to be hitting some home runs lately.
More to come in October, I'm sure! They are just loading the bases it seems.
I'm not a fan of subscription based software, but Adobe has managed to continually put out *good* new features that make photo editing better for me. This year looks like it's going to be one of their most impressive yet.
Great stuff, Thanks Blake
My pleasure!
There is one trap - if you stored your own workspace with selected 'toolbar' option, you will not see new removal tool. Many other new options will be accessible. To fix this, use Edit/Toolbar/Reset to default and store your workspace without checked mentioned option.
I'm noticing that now with the influx of comments and email, lol
@@f64Academy I'm from IT. It makes life easier in this area as well, as it turned out 🤣
Thank you for adding this information, I didn’t have it at first until i followed your instructions, so thank you
Thanks for this, did not see this update.
It snuck up on me too
Amazing new tools, as you !
:)
I just tested and found out that it will not work if you have the image set as a smart object.
Going to have to do some thought on this one, but it does work as you have described.
Thank you for explaining the new tools
Duplicate and rasterize the layer. That way you get the best of both worlds.
Thank you Blake
Wow, I really wish a lot of these were inside light room and I didn’t have to switch back-and-forth. However, this is such a great explanation and overview. I can’t wait to try these out. Thanks, Blake.
They might add.
Fabulous once again, Blake.
Thank you!
OUTSTANDING! PRESENTATION!
Thank you!
Great, very helpful...
😁
Cool video. Useful information!
Glad you liked it.
Wow!!
Pretty good stuff coming out these days.
Great video again !.... I have the remove tool in the tool bar however as I can only update my iMac to Big Sur 11.7.7 it won't work.
Time to start saving for a new PC ;-)
I thought Escher a split second before you said it!😄 Great vid.
😆
Nice video, Thanks buddy
Sure thing!
Really good feautures. Is the data being sent to the server or doing all the job on computer? Btw, waiting for movable vignette option in ACR for a long time.
Yes, its all happening on your computer.
For me the gradient is a big thing. It was always a guessing and trying and kinda a frustrating proccess when one wanted to use gradient in Photoshop in the past.
Thanks ❤
Certainly!
Excellent demonstration of the new Photoshop tools by f64 Academy.
Thank you 😁
@@f64Academy you're welcome.
Cool stuff!
Very cool stuff!
Great explanation.🎉
Thank you!
amazing stuff
Gets better every year
hey blake i like your videos.. But wanna know how i can get cursor to show 2 circles hardness and full size.
keep up the good work'!
That's part of my video software. I don't actually see that on screen. It's an aid so you can see it better as you watch.
I have watched a few videos on the new Generative AI , I did my update yesterday hoping it was going to be in the update but it wasn't, do you know when that will be happening ? I did get the new bar you just discussed & wow, these updates are amazing. Thanks to PS for helping us to worker smarter & not harder. Love the new gradient feature you just demonstrated. I saw where a few others in the group did not have the new 'remove' tool in the tool bar either, I don't have it in mine like you did. Suggestions ? I clicked on the properties section & it opened up a whole listing of new features that are very very cool. So much to play with !!
Generative AI is a beta tool in the beta version. Every educator has been jumping on that bandwagon and promoting something that won't be out until October in the Native PS Release. If you want to experiment with it you'll have to install the beta version of PS through the creative cloud application.
@@f64Academy I tried , but my computer is so old it told me it would not work, which I knew that. I should have waited, expecting my new computer this afternoon, can't wait to play in it. Thanks
@@f64Academy Something tells me Adobe isn't just going to "give away" all the Generative Fill functionality (even if rolled out during MAX). I hope it isn't pricey (& therefore unusable) like Adobe Stock. For us retiree hobbyists, vs pros who can bill clients & write off as biz expenses, we can't pay for the fancy schmantzy 'fun' stuff. :-(
@@FotomakerAcademy not sure, but I can't speculate on that either.
you are great, they can put you a completely unknown tool, and you would immediately understand in which situation to apply it
Lots of experimenting 😁
Good idea just sticking to the features available in the general release versions. Not everyone wants to install beta versions :)
Stability is the key. Those features will change too.
Love the new tools.
Me too!
Blake, I'm surprised the Remove Tool removed any of that branch in front of the base of the waterfall... you were working on a locked Background layer. I would have assumed it wouldn't have done anything at all and would have blocked you using tools on the locked layer... Hmmm. Now I have to experiment.
The other fill tools work on locked bkg layers
Have a great frustration with the new gradient tool - Shift + drag doesn't let me control the gradient angle anymore. Sometimes (pretty ofdten) I need my gradient to be perfectly horizontal.
Am I doing something wrong?
That's incredible! I have PS ver. 24.5 as well but I do not see the Remove tool nested within the healing tool icon. The closest thing I have in the toolbar is Healing Brush Tool all by itself. I am a Mac user. Your PS seems to have couple more tools not displayed in my Toolbar. Is this demonstration done in the Beta version of PS?
No, I have a photography workspace so you must have a saved workspace.. You'll have to add the to manually by editing the toolbar
@@f64Academy Thanks!. I now have added the Remove tool to the Toolbar.
I installed the latest update but there is no tab at the bottom tight corner of either the remove tool or the gradient tool icon. What am I doing wrong?
I live near Crown Point...love that first image
Oh my! What a great part of the country you live in. I think I left my heart somewhere in the Gorge. If you happen to find it, please send it to me ;)
@@f64Academy was just there yesterday on the Washington side...breathtaking views and such a beautiful day...
The Remove tool is amazeballs
Agreed!
I'm still on 2018 version and have no problems. When you install this does it create a new photoshop directory like it used to? I don't want to install this and have to re-learn photoshop and where everything is.
I don't know. It may because yo uare going from 2018 to 2023. But from 2021-2023 everything was seamless for me and I lost nothing.
i do portrait so that gradient change got me jumping on my seat!!!!!
Gradients are for everyone! So awesome!
🎉🔥🔥
👏
Remove tool is impressive. Finally, a tool that really, really works removing things.
I know! Wow!
Hello. Do you have to activate the selection tool ? I have the 24.5 version but i cannot see the remove tool active in the left side tool bar....
Right click the toolbar and edit it to add it
I tried the Beta Version with the A.I generative fill and did not get good results. This was the first time trying a Beta Version and I will wait until changes are made and get the "REAL" version when it is launched.
Good idea! I mean who wants to cross a bridge that's still under construction anyway, right?
Blake, I recently updated my Photoshop to the 2023 version of 24.5.0 which I am ASSUMING is the version you are using to access the Remove Tool in this discussion. Well my problem I do NOT have that tool, in fact my tool bar is not the same as yours. Mine, has the Spot and Healing tool separate items on the tool bar. Like I said, I do have the same version. Could you advise me as to just what you think could be the problem? Thank you fro your time replying back. Bill
You may have a custom toolbar
Right click edit toolbar and add it from the extra tools
They've not had editable gradients before now? Affinity Photo has had them for ages. The remove tool is really great though and the AI replacement tool (in the Beta) is really pretty scary good.
No they've been editable, just not with that workflow.
@@f64Academy Aha okay I see. Great video by the way. Keep up the great work.
I have the updated version, and it says Remove Tool was included, but I am not seeing it in the Healing Brush tool area...or where to add it in the Customize Toolbar area...any ideas?
You have a custom toolbar, you'll need to right click, edit the toolbar and add it manually.
@@f64Academy thanks I found it just now, but it was under something else...
With this version, it bothers me that the sliders do not run smoothly. I use the older version and beta...
They did someone to the UI, it's odd. It works in 1920x1080 resolution very well and the boxes around the sliders look great, any higher resolution and things look and function oddly. I just noticed that in my last video recording.
I just tried this today on a photo I wanted to use but it had other people in it. My results were not very good. Depends on the photo I guess
It definitely helps with an easier photo.. But you can do it repeatedly and get a different result every time.
I was thinking you said in a video you post once a week (you may be on vacation, understood) but what day is your typical “post” day?
I used to post on CZcams once per week. But I realized I was making content for the sake of making content while also detracting from the value of my subscription website, f64elite.com I love CZcams and all, but it doesn't pay the bills. So I've shifted my mindset and I provide more content for members which takes more time. So now, I post on CZcams when I feel it necessary, which is usually once a month and kind of random really. Members get a lot more of my time, and 10x the value of the CZcams videos.
@@f64Academy I need to join then!!
@@f64Academy I will join on Tuesday evening when I get back
Unfortunately, for me, that does not work on PS 2022, and my machine will not allow 2023 upgrade :(
Old Mac, right? ;-)
At the same time, my PC from 2015 can still be updated on whatever I want to.
When i click on the remove tool all i get is the pointer no brush i downloaded the beta and the same thing happens
Sorry there's not much I can do to help from here.
Vista House… was just there last week…
Nice! Amazing place for a great view 😁
I'm using version PS Version 25.... I don't see any of the stuff you are talking about... no Remove Tool, Gradient Workflow, or Contextual Toolbar in my tool bar.
This is for version 24.5 ... If yo udont see the remove tool right click inside your toolbar, then select edit toolbar and you should find it in the extra tools section.
I went looking for the removal tool, I could not find it. Is this in the Beta version only?
Found it, I read further down. 😊
Glad you found it 😁
Happy you’re not doing beta features-
Because I can’t sit through another video where half of it is telling people how to download the beta
haha, yeah, the nature of the beast with Beta videos. Normally people don't jump on beta features, but this generative AI is hot right now so a lot of people are pushing it.
@@f64Academy why always beta?
why not official release
Running to my computer to update
👍
I installed 24.5. I have Contextual Toolbar but I do not have Remove Tool.
You may have to add it to your toolbar.
All of my life I've wished for a remove people button in my car. I'd just drive around the hoods like a mobile dexter. Oh wait, this only works in photos? Darn...
Have you tried the remove tool and printed large?
No but I've zoomed in and looked at the results. Seems pretty good.
My personal opinion is it’s a great tool to get rid of things in your picture but the whole process of taking a photograph is creating a moment in time it’s what you see at that moment! U could call it history!
I agree! But if I had it my way and that Vista House were a set, of all everyone to leave the scene for the shot 🤣 it just helps cleanup distracting objects that pull the viewers attention. Nothing wrong with that. 😁
You: "I need to get rid of all of those people!"
AI: "Consider it done! I'm sending the drones" xD
Which version of photoshop is this please ?
24.5
Can this be used to remove tattoos?
I would imagine so. All you can do is try ...
Please help how do i verify my age on adobe? It says i must be over 18 to do it and verify?
That's for generative AI fill and I'm not promoting that because it's in beta.
ik this is beta but any news on the final release date of the official version 24.5 ?
This is not beta... I said that at the beginning... This is 24.5...
@@f64Academy oh its the final release nice it include the Ai fill tools right ?
@@DoctorMGL no generative AI. I explain that at the beginning of the video. Generative fill is in beta, these are not.

So many more reasons for PS! I love it, well beyond cleanup.
I can't find my hammer anywhere. I blame the remove tool.
🤣🤣🤣
I still want them to just work on bugs and maybe rework windows version so it's faster and better, to catch up with mac version
I feel this is the last buggy I've ever seen PS. I'm on PC with 0 issues
@@f64Academy one day I will have that too. for now I can't make myself to update mac due to nasty bug which resurfaced after the last update
Good job on the video but man what a blatant disregard to the signage at the falls.
We didn't see any signage at the lower fall. We saw it at the upper fall, but there wasn't much listed there. I'm curious if someone before us moved it or something, but I can say with all honesty, We didn't see signage there, otherwise we wouldn't have moved to get a better shot.
@@f64Academy there’s more than 5 signs there in addition to all the fencing. Not to mention the 🛑 sign that you have to walk by to access the lower. Kinda sad to see the place with so little vegetation now. No more than 6 yrs ago that lower area was beautiful, full of vegetation.
@@Brando90198 I understand what you are saying. For sure, I'm also looking at compositions on Google and many, if not all of them, are from this same area. I'm not saying it's right, but I'm curious if many aren't seeing them or if the signs aren't in the best spots. Even looking at some of my video footage on my walk down there I'm not seeing them. While we were there another photographer was in the same spot before us. Again, doesn't make it right, but I can't say I avoided those signs on purpose to get my shot. That's not my style.
@@f64Academy sorry if I came off harsh. Yes with google most are of that composition. Some are old photos, some are new. They should have just extended the fencing to the left. Not sure why they didn’t. Can’t send links here. I’ll IG send you some links to the place.
