I remember the government distanced itself from Lalela and at Miss Supra people were not happy she was designated there. Both times she showed her tenacity and prevailed

South Africa's remarkable achievement for placing on the top3 for almost 4 years consecutively is nothing short of miracle. What a GEM! Sending contenders of such high calibre,well-rounded,diverse & impactful speakers is a gift which keeps on giving & the Universe is gracefully responding. Lalela Mswane is a continuation of that,she did not disappointed as she remarkably busted & shook up most of self-appointed pageant experts straight to the top3,much to their dismay. Being an incredible speaker that she is,she could have easily won but as fate would have it,it wasn't her destiny. This is a relentless woman of substance who steadfastly stood up against her government's bullying tactics in their desperate attempt to derail her dreams. Her underperformance,could be attributed to the psychological trauma she was going through during the competition. Anyone could have easily hanged the towel but not her. She delivered,albeit,in a subtle but consistent way. I deeply admire her courage! What a force!

The South African ballet community is so so proud of Lalela because she chose to go after her dreams despite all the negative comments and the SA governments support. It's exactly how the SA government treats dance in our country and it always turns out that the unsupported dancers are the ones making a mark in the world and touches the hearts of people they meet & inspiring them to have courage with their determination. Love her walk! She sways her hips but in a very ladylike way! Some of the other contestants in this Miss Universe pageant sway their hips just a little too seductively! In the past 70 years to be an ambassador for Miss Universe one had to be very beautiful, extremely charming, and accepted with respect as a business woman! And, I think this rule of comporting yourself in a ladylike manner and always being treated with respect still applies, especially in our currently more permissable society!

*I'm a fan of Miss world so I check all videos. Maybe you're a racist you feel an African can't win or maybe you feel Ms India performed the best. I don't have hate with Ms India I'm speaking facts the dress she wore for culture was nothing new. But at that age of Ms SouthAfrica to dance ballet was not easy and her costume was outstanding something we didn't see. So not only performance but it should be checked every single beat of a person. Still Sushmita Sen will be my favourite* 😉👌
@@artisthusnatalal3099 For me Lalela is a great woman and competitor, she has great communication skills and graceful walk. But IMHO, Harnaaz really performed better since the prelims up to the final look. Am not being racist here, okay? My basis was not race, color, nor anything, but their performance.
And yes, her performance in national costume was fantastic, but it wasn't a scored segment as far as I remember.
