I often get this gear early, before manuals a details are firm and I was doing my best to test it out without having the full feature set. IMPORTANT INFO: If this doesn’t work. Take out SD card. I did and it linked automatically. When I put the sd card back in it would link. I replaced the card and everything works.
YES! worked when i took out SD card, finally. but now what?? is SD card the issue? you say yours was ok after you inserted it again, but when i do, RC disconnects again. ughhhhH!!
@@coloradokidd2812 My recommendation would be to change the SD card. That’s what I did and never had the issue again.

Thanks Rick..waaaay late after the fact, but I DID just receive the A2S combo pkg 2 days ago. I KNOW now they’re paired from the factory but prior to receiving ‘them’ I wasn’t sure AND I knew that with DJI’s “Fly-Away” coverage AND REPLACEMENT they needed/ HAD to be binded. ‘Course I’ve already flown a couple times and all’s good. Thanks again…

Just an FYI, I had to remove the protective case from my iPhone so the connector seated properly, then do a GPS recalibration outside, then it worked

I believe the batteries are L-ion in the Mavic Mini a completely different animal in comparison to other batteries in M2P.

Nice and quick and to the point.
I acquired a DJI Mavic Mini without the RC, so ordered a replacement remote. My phone isn't compatible with the Fly App, so I used your hardware method. I was able to bind the RC to the Drone. BUT: although the two now connect (the RC's power led lights are solid), the light on the drone flashes between Green and Red constantly. Would you know what the problem could be?
Edit: Even with the flashing red, I was able to start props, take-off and hover and control drone. Sometimes the green light was flashing normally and sometimes the red light was also on. I'm a newbie, and I suppose I should watch some videos and get a compatible phone to run the DJI Fly App so I can figure out all the in and outs. Thanks Rick for getting me started, so I subbed. 😉

@@Rajatgahlot Hi. I have both the Mini SE and Mini 2. Here's a bit of good news. You don't need your phone to fly either. As far as "Binding" them. Use the app on your phone. Then keep doing those one-minute auto binds till it works. Don't panic. In time they'll begin to bind quickly. After four straight days or so, they will begin to bind easily. Then, you will no longer need your phone. Added Tip: The SE is very good. But, I tell people it's worth the extra $150. for The Mini 2.

Please can you help me, I bought the new MAVIC MINI, i upgrade for the lastest firmware version 01.00.0400, in the controller and drone. And I tried to take-off for the first time with the Controller remote without DJI app or phone attached just for test.
But unfortunately the propeller won't work with quick take off stick mode.
How can I fix it?

Can you pair 2 controllers to the same drone? My controller battery lasts only 1 hour, so I thought a second charged controller would extend my flying time with 3 drone batteries.
It won't let me connect to anything. It keeps saying controller not connected.

Me too.. I try to connecting with iphone and samsung to the controller but not connecting. I am about to use a hammer to fix it for good.

I bought a used mini fly more combo and was about to write a very angry letter to the seller. This might have saved me. 😄 It seems to have worked. Going out to try flying again. But the app is working now, which it wasn't before. Talk about a first flight turning into a disappointing event.
Update (not that you care, lol) worked great. This was my first DJI Drone. I've own a Hubsan Zino and a holy stone $80 drone (which is what I learned to fly with) and I was on the verge of thinking DJI was a highly over hyped brand if their simplest drone was misbehaving. But with this simple fix I went out and did a perfect first test flight.

hi, you mentioned resetting the controller, how do I do this? I'm trying to connect a new drone to the old controller. There's no 'connect to aircraft' just relink, i don't want to relink as the old one is smashed, i want to link to a new drone
Thanks for the post and the binding from the controller to the drone is a "one to one" relationship that is persistent until you link to another drone. if you have an older controller and a newer drone you'd like to bind, simply use this procedure and the remote will connect to the drone as it's new pair. It won't remember the old drone and is simply looking for a partner once you start the binding process. I hope that helps and let me know if you have other questions. Rick

Mike, I haven't lost binding but wanted to get this posted so folks knew how to do it in case they had issues. It's buried in the manual but easy to miss and I wanted to have it posted as a reference. I also had a few questions come in about binding the quad and I think that was from folks flying the smaller quads where you have to bind the controller with every flight. I'm trying to get all the new fliers ready for their Mavic Mini's showing up next wee. Thanks for the post! Rick

Question, my friend gave me his mavic mini ultralight that he lost or broke the remote to I forgot. Will it work if I buy a remote and bind it? Or do I need him to give me his login/or change his login settings?

I'm looking to get myself my first drone, and the DJI Mini is most likely the one for me. Seems like the perfect beginner drone.
My question is: Do you put your phone on Flightmode when using it with the controller, to block off any incoming calls, or messages? Or does that matter at all?
I always put mine on flight mode. I have mavic pro and if I don't use flight mode I get bad interference.
Karsten, thanks for the post and I do use "airplane" mode when flying to avoid the hassle of calls coming in when flying. A call won't interrupt the program from flying your drone but it does force you to take your eyes off the drone to decline it. I also agree with the other comment that having your Wifi active on the phone can cause interference with the signal from the controller and it drains your phones battery faster. When I have left wifi on by accident, I get half the distance.
@@eagleeyeviewimages I agree and with some of the quads the interference is less than with others. The ones you'll notice it more with are the Spark and the Mavic Air. I use a dedicated cable with the Spark to eliminate the issue but always try and drop into Airplane mode when flying to be safe.

I ordered the Mini. It's my first drone, I've never flown one. I heard someone talk about geofence or something like that. Is this a feature that stops the drone from flying if it's too close to an airport? If so, does the Mini have this? Thanks.
I have just got my drone and used it twice, now the controller won't connect to the drone and I can't pair them together even with these steps, any idea why?
Did you figure it out? I am having the same problem. The aircraft light stays red and doesn't blink and never connects.
I have also encountered the problem. On my first try, it connected so well, now i have tried go connect the remote to the aircraft, it doesnt work
I just went onto the drone camera screen which was black since the camera is off and then turned the drone on, it connected itself then 👍🏼

I have a mini Mavic 3 with the controller that you have to attach my phone to. I use for work and it’s sort of a pain in the butt to set. Is there a different controller that would also be compatible which doesn’t require attaching the phone?

Great video, I just had a 20 min flyaway luckily it landed 50ft from my house after disappearing for 20 min 400ft high, I was lucky even though we wasn't connected I pressed find my drone beep & flash it still did that how I found it I went to the garage I heard faint beeping lol, would binding help with a situation like this losing connection, thanks also can I set my remote as home point I see a remote icon after pressing reset home point as I think I'd prefer that if it was an option, keen novice, thankyou 👍🏼🇬🇧
What phone do you prefer with the mini and have you tried both Android and Apple to see if there is any difference in operation ?

Nope, there won't be any messages other than you losing connection with your drone. The good news if that happens, the drone will start a RTH and the drone should fly back and land where it too off.

Here it is: pairing with the dji fly the app send an error "remote control disconected", and pairing without the cell phone manually the sounds are the same in your video, but the drone stays red and yellow blinking, and never start. Thanks a lot for the Video. It just happened the same to me. The Drone does not connect to my Android Galaxy A72. I tried serveral times after watching your video and many more, but the connection does not happened, nore the binding. What else can I do?
Thomas, thanks for the post and I would suggest doing the binding in stages. You don't actually need a phone connected to bind the quad and the controller so I would start there. Power both of them up and wait about 30 seconds. Then push and hold the power button on the controller until you hear a beep. The do the same on the drone until you hear a beep and they will start searching for each other. When they finally bind after about 10-15 seconds you'll hear a double beep to know they're connected. You can then connect your phone and start flying. Give that a try and let me know how you make out. Rick

I tried this about 3 times. No result. I must add that the drone flew with the RC perfectly. After a change of the propeller, 30 min later I try to fly.....and the problem started.
I dont know whst else could it be.
The drone is new, 1 month, came with RC.
@@thomasvoigt1050 Those details help a little but it's still something strange going on with the connection. If you can open the DJI Fly app and it connects to the controller, check to see if the firmware is asking for an update. If it needs one, do the update and try pairing the drone again. If you have more than one battery, try all of them in the drone one at a time to see if the pairing works. I know that sounds strange but the batteries have firmware in them as well that has to match up with the drone and controller and can sometimes get out of sync. You might find one battery that works and then you can update the firmware on the others. Let me know how you make out and if none of these tricks work you might have to replace the set through DJI.

I did all this steps. True its super strange. This is a new set of drone and controler. It flew 3 times perfectly. I had to change an older propeller, switched it on again and nothing, the problem appeard..

@@Dronevalley I tried some more times, nothing. I will keep you posted once I got the solution I will let you know. The funny thing is, that the fail started after registering with my existing DJI Fly account, so that means a software or account problem.

William thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately it's either video or pictures but you do have buttons on the controller to easily switch between them. The recording does stop when you take a picture and you'll have to start it again.
I have carried out the manual coupling several times without success because the software does not work. apparently rc and mavic can be found because the acknowledgment tones can be heard. However, the software still does not display a camera image with the message both are not connected. the mavic mini flashes red. the led of the rc light up continuously

A lot of reviewers are complaining because of the lack of the manual video controls but how much of an issue is that in reality? You can lock the exposure at any point and then add a EV compensation. With that you have a complete manual control of the exposure value. What you don't have is a separate control of the ISO/shutter pair that would produce that value. I would guess that the firmware is probably quite good at selecting the optimally small ISO for the set exposure value and the available light. Can you give some examples where it would be imperative to significantly override the auto ISO? I am planing to buy my first drone so have no experience. Do drones tend to select a too low or too high of an ISO? Do you often get unwanted long exposure motion blur when using auto ISO on your other drones (that would really surprise me)?
White balance control would be actually more useful. Can you check if the AE lock also locks the WB? That would make it much easier to fix the WB in post, if it isn't randomly changing during the clip.
Thanks for the post and the intent with the Mavic Mini was to build a drone that was easy to fly and film for new consumers. DJI spent a lot of time developing the DJI Fly app to make things easy and help the plot capture great video and pictures automatically. One of the things they did was remove a lot of the "knobs" of adjustment that more experienced pilots might need to make these types of adjustments. I have been flying the Mavic Mini for a few weeks and think the quad does an amazing job in auto mode for all of the video and pictures I've been taking so for me the manual adjustments aren't needed. To be fair, I'm not a professional photographer but if I was and needed these adjustments, I would step up to the Mavic Air or the Mavic Pro. Do you need to unbind before you bind? The reason I'm asking is because the video won't stream to my phone. The camera is fine and records but I can't see it as it's recording or just flying at all. I've seen other places that if you bind the mavic mini to the controller it should fix the problem.
Is there a setting in the Fly app to adjust the EXPOnential of the flight controls, or is the only way to get smoother flight by going into 'C'inematic mode?
Yes, I went thru all the steps got all the beeps but it still wouldn't pair. I tried the tip about removing the SD card and bingo it paired!

I thought the wifi is generated by the controller to bind the drone. Is it finding a signal or generating its own. Because how would it work in remote locations? New to this and just asking.
No worries. The Wifi is just the transmission standard that the controller and the drone use to communicate. It's a private connection between them and doesn't require any internet connection to work. Sorry for any confusion. Rick
