- Mary Kom refused to shake hands or hug Nikhat Zareen after winning the intense bout between the two in the 51kg final of the women's trials for the Indian team that will travel to China in February next year for the Asia/Oceania Olympic qualifiers. There were also alleged foul language that the six-time world champion used against Nikhat when the latter approached her after the result was announced.

She once said , "I have beaten her once in 2017 who is she what's her worth?" It is after abhinav bindra's intervention marry Kom no and the federation held this trial. The rule is you are only qualified for Olympic berth automatically if you have won GOLD or SILVER in Boxing Championship whereas she has won bronze in the last reiteration, so she has to go through a trial but she was given automatic pick.
