    Man the 80'-90's for NYC Jazz was an absolute killer time..! Stern-Berg Band, Brecker's Group, Steps, Steve Kahn and his Trio's, Sco's Blue Matter line up, the PMG and Chick and the Electric Band (OK...LA based) etc etc..with amazing CD after CD followed by world wide tours it was such a fertile time to grow as a musician and as a music fan..I remember taking just normal folk to such gigs and introducing them to this music/sound and having them be just blown away by the quality of playing, players and by the susbstance of the tunes,,especially the ballads..just beautiful..would so love to go back to that simpler time but am so happy I was "there"...

    Amen Nin. What a tasteful solo, huh? The origin CD version didnt have sax, but he makes this sound like it was written for sax!

      Yes but anyone who know mike stern knows that, but the brecker brothers live version in 1992 tour with michael brecker was so famous, it s usefull to notice Bob is playing in this video....(he was in the original Cd, i think....)

    Is it true that he plays Roy Buchanan's old Tele?

    • @drmedwuast
      @drmedwuast Před 3 lety +1

      No, it’s a Yamaha signature

      Mike said a bandit with a gun stole him that guitar.

    • @angelolivares8754
      @angelolivares8754 Před rokem +1

      Yes that was one of Roy's Telees and was robbed to Mike Stern at gunpoint in Boston as mentioned by him in different interviews. The Yamaha was designed based on that telee. The Yamaha has a different headstock design (the Pacifica headstock) and the one in this video for sure is the Fender headstock. If you listen to the guitar solo of Swing Moods there are some parts played with the bridge pickup that sound really similar to Roy's harmonics in When a Guitar Plays the Blues sometimes I even think it's the exact same guitar in both songs
