  • This is a review of the Atlas 80 Volt, Harbor Freight Lawn Mower. What is its battery Life,? Does it compare to gas? Is the Harbor Freight lawn mower worth it? A real life review to see if the harbor freight lawn mower is worth it. Can it handle tough grass? I test it on my food forest, organic farm on the olympic peninsula. Are battery powered lawn mowers any good? Lithium Ion batteries are good , but are they that good?

Dude, it's an electric mower, not a bushhog. 😄 I have the same mower. I do my whole yard, and when I'm done, one of the batteries is still fully charged. I could easily get by with only one.

Under the circumstances, I think it performed admirably. It' a lawn mower, it's not intended for clearing brush and that's pretty much what you were doing. Nice torture test!

Yeah, not meant to do that! The only gripe was the battery life, but then again it was a lot of work. Hopefully I will stay on top of it and have a more appropriate job description! I got the atlas weed whacker afterwords-should have been whacker then mower….

@@2Birds1Stone_ Where did you discuss battery life? I was skipping over some parts cuz this is the third Atlas review I watched tonight so trying to not spend time on duplicate info. I think if I needed more that one battery I would mow with one and keep the second on the charger. Should be able to keep going indefinitely that way just swapping them out as they die.

@@davidnettleton3375 yes! 2 batteries keep me going on my 1/3 acre city lot. I would definitely recommend 2 batteries but that makes the darn thing more expensive….batteries aren’t cheap. I would say about 17-20 mins of hard cutting on 1 battery. 2 gets my whole yard with a little left over.

Yeah, I agree with the folks who are commenting on the high brush. I have a powerful gas mower and it would be huffing and puffing with dry brush as high as this. You are asking a lot of any standard mower. This is a job for a brush mower. That said, this electric mower did an admirable job. That cutting out was almost certainly a protective circuit that is protecting the motor. I have to say, I am pretty impressed with this mower. I think the batteries are priced kind of steep, but being able to use them on other tools is a plus.

This one does perform as good if not better than most others. One thing you don't do with a battery powered mower is hit objects such as rocks and wood pieces large enough to stop it. With many of other brands the mower wouldn't start again until you install an new circuit board after a hit. Another thing about this mower is that two other companies now sell this one with their own paint scheme and labels.

Went to harbor freight and bought this mower. At checkout the clerk asks if I want to purchase the battery of which I reply "it doesn't come with one?". Answer: no! It's $150. extra! Kidding me?? $200 mower + $150 battery. Passed on it and sticking with cordless Sun Joe mower which lasted me 6 years of hard use. So for well under $200 I get a mower with much more power and no waiting for the battery to charge. The big negative about battery mowers is that the batteries degrade and one needs new ones after the first year or so.

Does that have to be disconnected when putting in the batteries then connect again. Harbor never said anything. The batteries are so difficult for me to remove from charger and I mean really really difficult. One problem is it can overheat and have to give it rest time. I just do it to give them something to scratch through and I harvest the manure from the run 1-2 a year for fruit tree fertilizer. Kind of keeps the mud down a bit…..they seem to enjoy it!

Are there any generic batteries compatible with this Lawnmower. I bought 1 last week and those batteries are expensive.

In the most respectful way, this review is bonkers. You are trying to cut very tall thick grass with this and that is NOT what this tool is for. Compare it to other electric mowers and the same thing will happen. Your rating is not accurate imo. Regardless, thank you for the video, not a lot of people talk about the Atlas.

@@2Birds1Stone_ That's great to hear it is still cutting. You helped convince me that the Atlas line is worth investing in. I recently got the brushless trimmer and the brushless pole saw! I don't need a push lawn more yet, but this is going to be my top pick right now.

Hey Aaron I am just about to do an update! I went all in on the Atlas products because now I have the batteries. I still like it, maybe even slightly more now because my kid likes using it. It has held up well, batteries seem to be holding up well. It is good-not great-just pretty darn good. Fun to use so that helps. Still glad to move away from the small engine maintenance. Stand by in a day or 2 for a thorough update!

@@2Birds1Stone_ That is good to hear. My Dino juice mower is a 30 year old, aluminum deck silver John Deer with the old flat head 5hp Briggs, with a choke and no primer. My issue is that it is starting to leave a oil cloud behind it and it is getting cranky to start. I was wondering how it was doing cause this will probably be the year to retire that old mister of mine.

Have the 80v whacker (think 40 would've been better). Swapped head for a easy replacement universal one.
      Blower (not bad).
And the 40v saw (haven't done a real test with but seems better than the lynxx I've beat on for years and passed in to a family member)
Ohh n pole saw. That thing is awesome
