  • It's sunny on Marco Island most of the time. After going to the beach often, you want to find quality beach gear that makes your beach day as easy, and enjoyable, as possible. Having some shade is a priority for me so I have looked long and hard. These are some of the best options out there. Here are the Amazon links. Love the Solbello! Used it for the first time for the entire day. Heard virtually no sound over the noise of the waves, around 65ish decibels from my Apple Watch. 45-90 second setup and tear down.

      @evolutionaryTom  Před 6 měsíci +1

      It's still my go to. It's very light and easy to pack and take on the boat for the sandbars too. I have two of them and often set up both for extra shade. Love them! Great comment about the decibals. I'm going to check that now on my Apple watch. Thanks for the tip! -Tom

    Hi Tom, those all look like great options. We bought the Neso 1 prior to our July visit to Marco Island and then used again this past week at Marco. It fits nicely inside luggage which was a big pro if you're flying to your beach destination. Have you ever heard of the Neso 1? I believe I purchased on sale for about $80 at REI. Curious on the filming date? We were just a couple of buildings north at the South Seas Tower 3 last week. Thanks Randy

    How would you rank the Handy stake and umbrella with the BeachBub and solbello. What’s your favorite now. Have you tried the Dig-Git?

    Thanks for this interview I am between the BeachBub and the Solbello. I will probably go with the Solbello for the ease of use, safer, and coverage.

      Thanks for the nice comment, Elizabeth. I choose the Solbello 90% of the time. The Beachbub is great and it is built to last. It the go to if the conditions are very windy. When it's really windy the Solbello can get loud and you don't have that with the Beach Bub. But the Solbello can be up within a minute, it's much lighter, and it's easier to carry. And the wind vane feature is awesome. They sell them on the island at Jet Surf Shop and Rose Marina. -Tom

    Hi Tom - Do you know if any of the beach rental places on Marco rent any of these high quality umbrellas?

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  Před 8 měsíci

      Hello Stephanie. Sorry, I don't. I know there's one or two businesses that rent beach equipment. I would call them and ask if it's a regular Tommy Bahama type umbrella or something more sturdy. -Tom

    Beach Gear Guy gave the Sobello a big thumbs up as well. The noise the Shibumi and Sobello make are a little annoying. Augering anything into the sand by Tigertail is really tough because of the shell content of the sand.

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  Před rokem +1

      On a really windy day the flapping can get loud, but our Sobello is the go to, especially when we take the boat out. Your Tigertail comment is interesting. I just received a new base that hammers into the ground. I'll be testing that soon and you'll see it in a video. The design is really well thought out. -Tom

      Which one are you referring to, Daniel? Maybe I can help.

      The shibumi, it's very big to fold in the wind

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Daniel, I use the bag as a stuff sack for the Shibumi. I wouldn't try to fold it. I put the collapsed poles in there first and then just start stuffing the shade in the bag. You should be able to get your hand all the way down in the bag so you can get it to all fit. I think that's how it was designed. Hope that helps. -Tom

    Tough choice, solbello or shibumi mini. Solbello looks easier to use.

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  Před rokem +3

      Between the two, the Sobello has proven to be my favorite. When there are slight changes in wind direction, you will have to move one end of the Shibumi to get the shade to flow evening. The Sobello will just adjust itself. -Tom

    Have you tried Shore Shade? Deciding between Solbello or shore shade.

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  Před měsícem +1

      I haven't tried it, Lynn. I'm aware of it but I know the Solbello shade is the original and holds a patent. So for me, any others wouldn't fit the quality category that I try to stick with for my viewers. Out of all of the shades I have and have used, the Solbello is still my favorite because of how easy it is to set up, how effective it is at what it does, and the ease of transport.
