💜 ABOUT ME:
Hi and welcome! I'm Tanya and the only thing I like more than learning languages is probably talking about learning languages (well, that and hoarding language books).
My native language is Russian and I'm currently in different stages of learning English, Spanish, Polish, Italian, Korean, Japanese and Greek.

in brief:
In this video, the speaker shares how they use their tablet, specifically an iPad, to aid their language learning journey.
They discuss various features and tips that can help others enhance their language learning experience using a tablet.
1. Split-screen feature: This feature allows you to multitask, such as watching a video in your target language while taking notes or using a dictionary simultaneously.
2. Reading on an iPad: Reading apps like the default Books app on the iPad can be combined with note-taking or flashcard apps to create an effective language learning routine.
3. Planning and organization: Tablets can be used to set reminders, track study time, create vision boards, habit trackers, and even function as a language learning bullet journal.
4. Digital notes and documents: Storing course materials in a digital format allows for easy organization and accessibility, as well as the ability to repeat exercises or look up words quickly.
5. Practicing writing: The iPad and Apple Pencil are perfect tools for practicing writing in a new language, without wasting paper or harming the environment.
6. Text recognition and search: Most note-taking apps have a text recognition feature, allowing you to search your handwriting for specific words or phrases.
7. Recording audio while taking notes: Some apps allow you to record audio as you take notes and sync the audio with your notes, which can be useful when attending lectures or watching videos in your target language.
8. Changing app languages: You can change the language of your tablet or individual apps to help you learn and remember vocabulary in your target language.
The speaker encourages viewers to share their own experiences and tips for using tablets in language learning in the comments section.
What? Is this AI?
I meant, cool
@@haroldberserker Yeah, hit the three dots on the right of the video, and you can view the video transcript (basically the video subtitles), and you can copy and paste them into a generative AI like Chat GPT and ask it to summarize the video. It’s actually very helpful for course lectures because you can get the lecturer’s main points instead of watching the full lecture. You can also ask it to use the transcript to better expand upon certain points so you can get a more in-depth summary.
This was helpful! I just bought my first ever iPad a few months ago (finally). I needed it for reading sheet music, but this video has given me some ideas on how to use it for language learning
What iPad did you got ?
@@Ramarakaza122 I got the large iPad Pro, the 2022 version. It's been almost a year and I still love it.
This channel always stays *on point* in their videos! Thanks for another great video!
This video was very helpful. Currently learning Portuguese. Thanks!
Women are so organized :-)
Thank you!!!! I've been sleeping on the Books app on my ipad and hadn't noticed the built-in Chinese dictionary and how cheap the Chinese ebooks are. Such a game changer
What a helpful video! I like the software recommendations, the specifics of how an iPad would be helpful for me in language learning, and the directness of the content without any fluff. In fact, I had to slow it down and back it up. I love that, as opposed to scrubbing through to find the helpful parts. Very good. Thank you.
This video is extremely informative and very helpful
I just came across this video (& subscribed) . Really useful! & thank you for putting the names of the apps! You’re very organised with your language learning!😊
So, many great tips. 👍🏾
Omg this was so helpful! I've been meaning to start using my iPad for language learning for ages, but I wasn't even aware of some of the features you mentioned!! I definitely need to look into them further
Honestly, using my iPad for language learning (especially for annotating PDFs) was a life changer for me! Hopefully you find a way to make it work for you too
@@tbenavente Hey, what app do you use for annotating PDF?
Я сначала даже не поняла, что русский ваш родной, английский просто шикарный у вас:) Очень полезное видео, спасибо!
можно понять только по тому, что говорит четко. Ну и... имя
Upgraded from an iPad Mini 6 to the iPad Air 5 after watching this. I have been wanting to get a bigger screen for the ability to do split screen more comfortably.
Glad I bumped into this video!
Came here to see if there’s any tips that I can use that I am not already using, but I want to tell you a really a really cool tip. Now GoodNotes 5 now has the recording feature that notability has. You just have to update it to the latest version, and then the microphone icon will appear in the top left corner next to all your options. My mum told me about the update because I always talked about how I love GoodNotes way more but I need notability for school because of that recording feature. Now I never use my Notability anymore. So almost 3 weeks into last semester, I switched to being full time on GoodNotes now. I honestly feel like their organisation of everything is way better than Notability with their folders, nesting features, and a lot of customisability.
I just bought tablet and I knew in advance for what reasons I bought it, but your video helped me to organize all my studying routine in my head.
Thanks a lot!
hey Tanya! I just started going to Korean classes, and I feel like using analogue notetaking (notebooks, pencil, highlighters) is quite the hassle. I'd like to know if you've felt any changes when it comes to productivity and if it has helped improve your language skills in any way? Was it hard transitioning from analogue to digital? Has it helped you reach a higher language level on any of the languages you are studying? I'm seriously contemplating investing on an iPad, but I'd really like to know if it helps you in terms of fluency and progress, and if using a digital notetaking app helps you retain the language and vocabulary better.
OMG, how have I just discovered split screen? TYSM!!
Very helpful
Very nice presentation.
Great video Tanya!!! 😊It is amazing to watch your way of learning languages with tablet 😍 I am more an analog type of learner 😂
Thank you! I myself tend to go back and forth between digital and analog, but for some things, like reading or learning vocab, it's always digital for me 🙃
@@tbenavente Yeah, I feel you. Sometimes it's even impossible to circumvent digital 😁
Finally ❤️❤️❤️
Great video! Could you please film a video about the apps you recommend using?
Sure thing! Coming soon!
Thanks
I’m American and learning Russian. I have sheets of paper everywhere. This looks interesting
Very helpful. Which ipad are you using?
Its nice to get this video. I have an ipad. İsm leaning arabic and i like to hand write. When it comes to translate hand writing to text and basic dictionary on hand writing which note taking app you guys recomend.
Holy shit, I'm more inspired than ever to learn Mandarin now - I have a Girlfriend that is a native speaker (Long distance) and I was thinking about getting notes and Chinese books but then I thought... Why not get an iPad. So I searched and found this amazing video full of tips. I'm going to invest !
Thanks you
I have Subscribed. Added this video to a playlist
You are very helpful! Much appreciated! !
Glad I was able to help! Best of luck with in your Mandarin Chinese journey!
@@tbenavente
Thank you for the guidance Tanya! Hmm, while i have you here - Can I ask you a question?😅
My Girlfriend actually just started studying Spanish.
Do you have any simple tips for her to help boost her pronunciation 🤔 or general guidance on that.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Jono
@@JonoTaku I do have a video about Spanish resources I used: czcams.com/video/Z0_Fo-kt9t8/video.html. For pronunciation specifically, this is a good book, but it's for A2 learners, so not ideal for complete beginners: amzn.to/42oEhoQ (also, this is Spanish from Spain pronunciation)
This notification interrupted me rewatching your other vids hehe
hehe your comment definitely made my day 💜
Um wow. I’m already going through multiple notebooks on my language and was wishing I had them in the digital format. So the question I have is what are some of the app recommendations?
4:32 Do you have a Chinese version of the writing practice block in GoodNotes too?
Hola que aplicación usas para practicar escritura?
so helpful, what's app you used for writing practice in this video?
it’s Goodnotes!
Hey Tanya. Me too, me too. :-) Do you have recommendations for Flashcards?
Quizlet or Anki are good options and they both allow you to create your own or use somebody else's flashcards, but I myself actually prefer using Clozemaster for learning vocabulary
what note app do you use?ty
which app is this that you read pdf on it and how connect to dictionary?
Please make another detailed vid on how to use ipad for Language learning 😭😭😭😭
What exactly would you want me to talk about?
OMG you are learning Japanese, Korean and Chinese?? I would love to know how you organize your day to study this languages 😃
I bought the blue iPad 10 gen which I've had since January 4th. I'm thinking about how I should use it to learn Polish as a native English speaker. I don't have the Apple Pencil yet because with tax it's $150 CAD if it's on sale.
I hope your Polish studies are going great. I’m Polish, so your comment just caught my eye :)
@@AldonaAnna89 Thank you. I want to become conversational in Polish in the future. I have Polish heritage (my grandmother is from Poland) but I only grew up speaking and hearing only English and I live in Canada. My dream is to be able to have in Polish conversations with all of my relatives in Poland without relying on a translation app.
@@celinaduguay6484 I know it’s not easy to learn Polish. My husband is Brazilian, and I see how much he struggles with it. Fingers crossed for you 🤞
I am also super interested in your Language Learning Bullet Journaling. How do you do that exactly?
I currently do it in an analog notebook and I'm planning to make a video about once the journal is a bit more lived in!
@@tbenavente thaaaanks
Yo that app you’re using to write on that textbook at 3:46 is crazy! Which app is that?? 👀
it’s Goodnotes 5
@@tbenavente thank you so much! :D
I wish I had goodnotes back when I went to spanish school. Overtime they gave me a big box of valuable printables..Having to toss all of that when moving was heartbreaking
Which notes app do you use to read and annotate your pdf and your hand written notes please?
Goodnotes
what app are you using to read and write on your pdf files?
Mostly Goodnotes

Hi! it's the 2018 iPad Pro but I used to have a 3rd gen iPad Air, and it worked just as well for everything I show in this video
@@tbenavente thank you for answering Tanya!I am thinking of buying my first tablet this year! Great video!😊
Does she have a video talking and showing the native app on iPad helps to learn languages?
This is the only video about studying with an iPad I have so far, but if you told me what you’re interested in in particular, I could probably make more videos on the topic
What app do you use to read?
Goodnotes for pdf's and Apple's Books or Kindle (the app) for epub/mobi
i bought an ipad because of this video xd
What is your native language? I'm using your videos to learn English because I understand you speaking well
