Is it possible to both fail and win at the same time? Well, in the world of football boots, I think it is! How do you this you might ask? Make a new Puma King, but leave out the leather. Sounds awful, but it isn't. Let me explain.
In today's video we take a closer look at the new Puma King Ultimate, a King model that substitutes k-leather for a new synthetic alternative called "K-Better". As leather boots, they suck, but as thin synthetic ones, I'm talking the Teijin synthetic days of the Nike Mercurial Vapor series, they're awesome! We breakdown everything you need to know about the new King Ultimate, and discuss why going synthetic might not have been a bad thing! What do you think of the King Ultimate?

those vapors are my favorite boots of all time. 3rd pair of boots ever and i cried when they broke. cant tell you how excited i am to have a chance to play in something like those again!
I prefer leather football boots at the usual price of the Nike Tiempo (not Mizuno) and after hearing of Nike's similar fate as the Puma King series, no longer producing it in leather, I'm really sceptical over these alternatives but really appreciate this review in particular given Josh's non-bias approach to either synthetic or leather

Not going to lie. My heart fluttered when those Vapor VIIIs up onscreen. It’s like seeing your school crush at the grocery store back in the day.
I had no interest in these prior to the video. But the upper being compared to the THE Vapor VIII and IX Teijin synthetic. I Guess they’re going on the bucket list.

@@ulyssesherrera3016 unfortunately they did not fit my feet. I've been having trouble finding one piece upper boots that accommodate my foot shape without giving me foot cramps or suffocating my feet so I did not get to test them out.

Could you do a review of the Puma King Pro? The take down version of these, would really love hear your take on them.
Hi Josh! It seems that Puma King Pro has the same K-Better upper, but lacks NanoGrip insole and external heel counter. Also Pro's have outsole made from TPU instead of PEBA.
How meaningful is this downgrade compared to Ultimate model? Do those features make much of a difference?

Those boots are absolutely great, there is super soft leather "feeling" w/o real leather drawbacks (like weight). So they are ultra comfortable and ultra light!

Yeah, I’ve been saying this for a while. People who work at stores tell me it’s because they didn’t sell very well. I don’t believe that but that’s what they say. Another thing to pay attention to is that in stores, ag aren’t available, GX elite models, adidas copa or predator in white out colorway. They have been very selective on what the companies have shipped to stores even though stores claim they are awaiting shipment
I'd personally recommend the new balance 442 v2 pros. They also have conical studs and are fantastically comfortable and super light. I use them for practices on AG.
Is there a chance that you could do a takedown review, for the King Pro?
How is the heel? I know Jay Mike said he thought it was a bit shallow and I know that’s something you tend to have concern over. I am always aware of that too when looking for new boots. Thanks Josh!

I just bought these and added them to my collection. I think the upper is actually phenomenal. I would say they do feel slightly like a super thin pair of leather boots, not like a traditional thick leather boot, however overall great boots

@@vladikd4968 on artifical turf they do get dirty much quicker than natural. Generally tho if u clean them immediately after especially after natural grass they should be generally white, but there will always be a bit of green staining on the studs for example that slight

My last great Pumas were the Evopower 1.3, which felt great on felt being also synthetic. Would these be on the same vain?

Great review as always! Since i play 95% on quite weathered down AG pitches, i have only worn PUMA Future MG models for the past years they have been out. I saw that the new Puma KING has a PRO model as an MG variant at around 100€. Do you have any idea if they are as good as other PUMA "takedown" models usually are. I am really interested in them since i love the PUMA King silo. Thanks :)

@@Davidjohnevans89 MG Future is amazing. I have worn every model since the Future came out, i enjoyed the first ones (1.1) and the latest ones the most. The new ones especially (Future Ultimate) are really great for all feet types. I have really wide feet and i feel very nice in them. In other news, i bought the new PUMA King Pro MG variant, cost me 100€ and i must say they are absolutely incredible value. They feel so light on my feet, again, i have really wide feet and there was absolutely no problems whatsoever. Probably the most comfortable pair straight out of the box, so soft and simple on your feet. So all in all, both the Futures and Kings are exceptional options, and if you want to save money, the new KING MG variant at 100€ is absolutely brilliant. My new favourite alongside the Futures :)

I don't really get the positioning of Puma when it comes to their new pair of shoes.
They have 2 models that seems to feel similar from my perspective (with the Future and Ultra), then you have this new pair that use the name "King" but have nothing in common with a og Puma King.
In my opinion it was the perfect moment to go back to less sophisticated top end k leather option and market it well like Adidas did it with the Copa since 2017.
If Harry from Dumb and Dumber was in charge of the Puma King design team:
“Just when I think you couldn’t possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this…
…and totally redeem yourself!”

So even though these are not leather, would you say they are still thicker than the ultra ultimate? I spend half my time in ultra ultimates and the other half in what’s left of an old pair of synthetic evoSPEED 1.2’s. Honestly, I like the evo’s a lot better and am looking for Puma’s closest modern day equivalent.

Hey. So. I do appreciate this review. But. Unisport only has this silo in the MG sole-plate with the Puma King 'Pro' takedown. I'm struggling to find anyone that's reviewed that takedown model of this silo. I don't even know how it differs from the 'Ultimate.' You have often praised Puma's takedown models in the past, so I'm hoping you might give it a review?
Interestingly, while the 'Pro' takedowns of the new Puma Future and Puma Ultra are going for around 130 USD, the Puma King 'Pro' takedown is going for just 100 USD. So if it's a good boot like past Puma takedowns have been, it's an incredible value.
I ordered the takedown Puma King Pro MG and will get it delivered by the end of next week. Hopefully they are also true to size despite using the MG soleplate. The fit on the future was a bit disappointing as it runs too long.

@@kailasprasads They are still going strong! Lots of scuffs because I have them in white, but I ended up getting the Ultimates as well and prefer the fit of the Pros so I always put those in the bag. I'll downgrade to the Ultimates when the pros break haha

They could have made it calf leather like Adidas did with the Copas. Their transition to full synthetic on their King line isn't on California. Besides, there are easy ways to get k-leather boots in California

I say that as someone with the seeweed Vapor VIII. Theyre ok, but I would prefer a leather upper any time i play or train. More comfortable, moves better with the foot and feels infinitely better on the ball
