In the C922 frame, more of the window behind you is visible, which is why the auto exposure is showing a darker image. That window is less visible in the perspective of the C920 frame, which you mentioned. Great comparison, thanks!

Yup. At 1:02 you can really see the difference when he moves his head and blocks some of that background light.
yeah..the c922 has a wider angle lens and this needs to be taken into consideration when comparing image quality

I'm super late to this video but, this is the best comparison video of the c920 and c922, thanks so much for creating this! I had no idea about the codec issues and switched my format to MJPEG and noticed a whole world of difference, I wish I knew about this sooner!

Thank you for your input and effort you put into this video; it is helpful for anyone to view and gain a little insight to the potential upgrade the newer unit may/may not bring to the buyer(s).. One note from my personal database of knowledge gained from being a consumer for several decades is this: When it comes to making a legitimate comparison of any/all products, it is not entirely sufficient to use a carbon-copy environment and then point out various weak/strong points. Firstly and Lastly: Every new product which bears any/all upgrade in features can only be realized by the potential buyer(s) If the unit is set-to-perform in it's tailor-fit surroundings. With proper lighting to bring your facial features into view and as present as the brightest looking shots; one might find that the clarity of the new camera has eclipsed the prior cam by quite a stretch. However, I could be wrong, just an example! thanks!
The difference seems pretty minuscule, especially if the webcam is just being used to display one's face in the corner while they play a game or something else that is the main focus... But what if you want the camera to be the main focus? Let's say you want to stream on the creative channel (drawing, painting, etc) - would you say the C922 is better for that? With the right lighting and set up, do you think it would be clear enough to pick up fine details? Or would you maybe not even choose a webcam at all for something like that?

Thanks for this comparison. I'm about to start streaming miniature painting, which will require focus on the model in my hand as I turn it over while painting it, as well as movement of the brush. It seems like the c922 is what will work best for that, as long as I get my lighting right.

Good stuff I use the 920s and C930s to run the 8 cam covering The Cichlid Show stream. I haven't tried out a 922 yet. I'll give one a shot. I LOVE the 920s though. Very much so.

If you change the Gain slider on C922, you will notice the image will be a lot brighter. Don't know why it works like that, but the automatic "0" is not the real "0" position. Just change it to something like 120-160 and you'll see a lot better image, the same goes with the Sharpness setting. The first position (126) is really lurry, change it to something like 160-180 and you'll see crispy sharp image.
Hello ! I just watched your video about the comparison between the c922 and the c920 cameras and the question that I have is..what is your microphone ? and what mixer do you use? I really like the voice quality that you have with your own mic. Is it also changed through any program in order to increase the quality of it in the video or can you get that voice quality just right in live stream? Thanks and sorry for so many questions! :)

Will the C922x focus while facing down while reviewing in detail a piece of small hardware (say 2" x 2")? Is there a setting in OBS or elsewhere to do this? I really need the closeup capability.

Great review man! You just earned a sub! I have a Microsoft LifeCam Studio. I can already tell that both the C922 and the C920 are better then the LifeCam Studio especially on the autofocus department. Though the LifeCam Studio also cost a lot less than both the C920 and the C922.
Yeah, Microsoft's cams tend to have worse focus, but are great for the cheap price.

Could I ask what external mic you're using? I really like the sound of that and have been looking at using one of those to replace my external RODE mics. Great review, by the way. I have a C920 myself and works wonders for streaming and face cam.

Would you happen to know how to rig a setup that would livestream from the logitech camera, but also be able to switch between a desktop screenshare on the same broadcast?
Yeah that's a pretty basic setup for OBS, XSplit, Wirecast, etc. They support having multiple "Scenes" - one would be webcam and the other would be desktop capture.
How did you make it look so good i have the c922 what bitrate did you use for 1080p or whatever you shot it at i usually do 40000 and it doesn't look that good
How do you get the manual settings options? I currently use the logitech webcam settings but it doesn't give me as many options as you show. Thanks!

I was looking into buying one of these webcams for my Facebook Live sales. Which would you recommend ? I sell jewelry, so I need it to focus good on it when I put it in front, then go back to me, when I put the item down. I use a separate mic, so I don't have to worry about that issue. :)
What program are you using to record the C922? The default Logitech Software doesn't work with the C922 :(

EposVox I'm trying it in OBS now, and the quality at 720p 60fps is just terrible, in my opinion. Not worth the upgrade, if you have a C920 already. I'm pretty disappointed.

The background light and different positions of the webcam seems to be causing 922 to look a bit darker. There are other comparision videos where 922 does better in low light compared to 920.
As others have asked, how,do you get to that settings screen you are on for the webcams?

I’d have to disagree. On manual mode c922 looks LEAGUES ahead in terms of exposure, contrast, and overall quality. Even the mic, not that anyone would use it tho

If I record gameplay at 1080p 60fps but the c920 can only record up to 1080p 30fps. Will I still be able to record gameplay at 1080p 60fps without the camera and the mic audio being out of sync? I am using the elgato app or obs also is there anyway to make the c920 reocrd in 1080p 60fps?
I know this is an old video topic but I would like to know if somethings wrong with my c920, everytime I turn on my pc while the webcam is pluged in , it gets into a weird bootloop where it tells me that a usb device is making things corrupted.
Im on wind 10 home(latest update) intel 4790k gtx 970 evga 750w
(sometimes the pc wont even recognize the web pluged in.) but when it does it works just fine.

Definitely just the C920 - Skype automatically lowers the quality based on connection and bandwidth needs, so getting the tiny bits of better quality will make 0 difference -- and the C920 is cheaper now.
Do you know what is the minimum focus distance on the c922?

Hey EposVox, when looking up webcams, I keep coming across the Logitech 1080p pro stream web cam, the specs seem identical to the c922, however the price is not the same, nor is the packaging. Can you clarify if it is indeed the same webcam? Or what if any the differences are? Either way, thanks in advance! Keep up the great videos!
Yep Logitech likes to give their webcams a bunch of different names for the same hardware. The C920 has like 6 different names and pricing on Amazon right now, it’s maddening.

i have a question about your external mic: does that plug into a usb (totally separate from the camera)? i already have a mic/preamp i want to use. but not sure if you need a mic that plugs into camera or something.
Mine is analog that runs through a mixer setup and plugs in via the Line In jack on my motherboard. Webcams don't have mic plugins.

Just out of curiosity do you get audio desync the C920 you record with a USB Mic on OBS because I am. I believe that you are now using an entirely separate audio setup now but I believe it has something to do with the C920s in consistent frames. I realized the issue because it becomes more noticeable on longer videos and is quite annoying to edit. I was really considering on buying the C922 if it removes the issue but if it still occurs there is no point.
I do not with OBS, no. With something like Logitech's webcam software, you would get it yes.
The C922 is the only one my local store sells and i don't really have the time to wait for shipping on the C920.. what do you think i should do? wait and get the C920, or just get the C922 now?

Hi i buy the c922 after your review but its very blurry :( I have a lot of light , 1280x720 and 60 fps. my moves are quick and good but the whole picture is so blurry :( Can you help me? i use xsplit as software because obs is not as good as well

Nice review but not an accurate. The C922 is darker because it sees more of the backlighting of the lamp behind you as oppose to the C920 which is brighter mainly because with its angle of view, you are covering most of the backlight (the lamp)with your head. Notice at 1:04 that C922 was brighter when you moved your head to your left and thereby covering the backlight. I see it in your face that you were surprised that this happened too. You should switch their positions and do another comparison. And for your next webcam reviews and comparisons, you should even out the backlighting between webcams to make an accurate review.
