    Bjørkø: The Heartroot Rots (Music: Tomi Koivusaari / Lyrics: Jussi Ahlroth)
    Deep goes the root of roots, the heartroot that feeds
    A sickness brews in the roots, a fester eats the heart
    Tainted soil ferments with lies, turns the earth sour
    Like a fungus grows a doubt, and the rot sets in
    The heartroot rots
    All grows corrupt The heartroot rots
    All trust is lost
    The root of the matter, is the root of the mind
    The heart gives life to all, takes root in the earth Water stinks with fear, foul, it flows and stirs
    Suspicion breeds infection, and the rot sets in
    The heartroot rots
    All grows corrupt The heartroot rots
    All trust is lost
    Phytophtoran putrefaction
    Sulphurous suppuration
    Necrotrophic consumption
    Allelopathic inflection
    Rhizospheric ruination Analethic fabrication
    Mycorrhizaic deconstruction
    Verbicidal vindication
    I tore up the roots, with bleeding bare hands The fetid and corrupted heart, I ripped it apart To
    kill the corruption, I killed all that lived
    The world is now rootless, barren and alone
    From rot all that grows, turns to rot
    Of rot all that can be said, turns to rot
    Silence, all rotten

    If this was the new Amorphis song, I'd be ready to assume this will be the best Amorphis album since Tales from the Thousand Lakes.

    • @escaper_music

      Although I love...well, everyone loves Tales From The Thousand Lakes, I also like the way of Amorphis' development. And, it's hard to argue, but, after Joutsen joined the band in 2006 Amorphis became stronger, than ever. Just look at the "Under The Red Clouds" and "Queen of Times" - these are two perfect albums. Even if we talk about "old true Amorphis", the album, that marked their unique sound, was "Elegy". Yes, "Tales" are perfect masterpiece, but Amorphis is that kind of band, who always reinvented themselves. I love all their albums...well, almost all, besides "Circle" and "In The Beginning of Times", on which they stuck, being too self-copying. But they are really unique band. They reunited in original cast, after 30 years original cast! And they respect all the band's legacy by playing all of their stuff through all albums and years . If you will look some of their live shows, you'll see, how Tomi Joutsen pays respect to old stuff (and I'm not only about "Black Winter Days"). He really loves it and enjoy to perform it. So, "old Amorphis", "mid Amorphis", "new Amorphis" - just no need to compare, because they are great in each period of their existence.

      @@escaper_music I love most Amorphis albums but much prefer the early stuff. The vocals sounded less "happy". They're still good now but there's a major bright vibe about them now. I miss the darkness. Last album was the best with Joutsen for me. Also, have you heard Hallatar? That's one of my favourite vocal performances. Ever. By anyone.

    By the way, interesting and funny.
    We had a solo album by Esa Holopainen, now a solo album by Tomi Koivusaari is coming up, and the recording of an album by Olli-Pekka Laine was also announced earlier.
    (I really hope that Santeri Kallio will also take part in this flash mob. :) )
    And, by the way, I think that the Amorphis "Halo" album was weak. I think maybe it happened because the musicians were busy with their own solo projects.

    • @Kristofburger
      @Kristofburger Před 11 měsíci +3

      I'm not sure it's because of all these solo projects, I've kind of noticed a "Covid slump" when it comes to many of my favorite bands.

    • @lupo1185
      @lupo1185 Před 11 měsíci

      To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the 'post-times-era', circle was still fine but the albums with Bogren feel a lot like a now well established formula. There are still great songs but sometimes it is really hard to tell if a song belongs to halo, queen or red cloud, they all sound quite the same.
      Esas solo-effort was really refreshing in comparison (though I was really disapointed by the song with Tomi Joutsen, just sounded like any other Amorphis-Song, was the chance to do something different for a change).
      Therefor I really hope that Tomi Ks will be refreshing as well.
      Regarding Oli-Pekka: I would prefer a new Barren Earth-record instead, they were really good and as I understood Oli did most of the songwrtiting anyways? (Was hoping for some more of his influence to writing, when he returned)

    • @Kristofburger
      @Kristofburger Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@lupo1185 Bogren kind of revamped the rhythm section and there's a huge difference between Circle and UTRC in that regard. QoT is their most progressive album since Joutsen joined, and the symphonic elements and choirs are pretty unique compared to everything else they've done. Halo is definitely the weakest of the three.

    • @lupo1185
      @lupo1185 Před 11 měsíci

      @@Kristofburger yeah, I don't say they are bad. Circle suffered extremely under the production IMHO, live many songs of that record were way better.
      Personally I just prefer the style they perfected on Skyforger, pretty progessive already with a great mix and sound - there was just something special to it.
      For me the over-complicated choire-orchestra parts aren't really required (but of cause, thats just taste) and they follow a lot the typical formula of growl and clear in verse and refrain.
      I dig all of Amorphis-Eras but may actually pass on the new live album as, at least the first teaser, sounded exactly like the album-version (and that feels weird, as I own every limited/special edition, some Japans, the original pressed vinyls etc...)

      @@mileenz681you may have a really odd definition of "comparing" but by doing so doesnt mean you're not enjoying. Comparing can mean that you're simply acknowledging the different crafts and unique elements of the two or more works of art on display. There's nothing to suggest you cannot enjoy both. I like to compare Lennon and McCartney, Gilmore and Waters, and other genuis artists at times. I enjoy them all.

    The song is great, it's very unexpected that it's dark and heavy. I hope there are more songs like this on the album!
    A significant disadvantage is that Tomi decided not to sing himself, but to gather guests. I have nothing against Jeff, but I like Koivusaari vocal much more. (And we are so rarely allowed to hear it.)
    The cover looks like a bad joke. (Or is it to attract a female audience?) This version rather repels me. I hope there will be any edition with an alternative cover.

    • @amorphis.sanctuary
      @amorphis.sanctuary Před 11 měsíci +7

      I do not agree. The cover also confirms what Tomi said in the press release, that he didn't want anything to hinder his artistic expression. If he felt this was expressive for some reason, he has the right to do so, and I'm glad that he was able to decide so freely.
      If you only associate the cover with the song just released, it still makes sense: no matter how beautiful the flowers are, they dry/ferment/rot.
      And as a graphic designer, I'm very happy about it, it's refreshing to finally see something different instead of the "mandatory" metal elements.
