- Run Windows Programs on Linux with Wine. I'll be using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS to show you how to install Wine, but it's available for MacOS, Unix based systems, and Multiple Linux Distros. Wine uses a translation layer (POSIX) to natively run windows APPS on Linux.

Thanks this is the only tutorial that worked for mint. Moving to Linux is hard and I only recommend it for computer buffs. Seems easy to us nerds but the fact that half of the tutorials to install something so simple didn't work is telling.
Glad to hear it and thanks for sharing the experience
@@SavvyNik sir please provide command in the decription

I got an error with the "sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-stable" command. It says that
"The following packages have unmet dependencies:
winehq-stable : Depends: wine-stable (= 8.0.2~jammy-1)

After you install wine you can just right click on the Windows application that you want to run and click run with and then click on wine
There should be absolutely no reason to use Notepad on Linux, but I'm attempting now to install the Ultima Online client using Wine. Thanks for the tutorial!
Hello, I'm getting an error message that the first command is not found. Any ideas? I've typed it out exactly as shown

Hey! I heard "bottles" is better somehow? tutorial on that? There are some other videos but they don't explain like you do.

Why does no one ever have an answer for why this doesn’t work. I’ve don’t everything right and it says something about you have held bad packages
MS Office on Wine doesn't support image dragging and adding... i don't know why,but cool video
any workaround when unable using MS Office?
It tells me unable to correct problems , you have held wrong packages
👍!
I installed 'GIMP 2.8' using your method, but it's like a shell of itself with all filters missing and it refuses to recognise any standard file type. Any idea why that's happening, Nik?
Why don't you try the native Linux version?
@@alexkok5669 I have the 2.10 version installed, by I really don't like it. I can't install the 2.8 version for Linux because it's not contained in the 'Software Manager' and as a new Linux user trying to install anything that's not contained there is a nightmare, quite frankly.
when i get to downloading the stable branch of winehq i get an error saying "unable to locate package winehq-stable" but when i check it does say i have winehq. i am running abuntu 23.10 so idk if that makes any difference, any help would be appreciated!

Haha glad it connected you ;)
Can install wine without terminal?
should just be in software manager
My playon Linux doesn't want to open
I've been using computers since they were invented... and I can tell you one thing for sure. Until the Linux programmers completely and reliably find a way to AUTOMATE this entire process, comparatively few users... perhaps 1%... will ever go through those hoops to run a Windows program on Linux.
To restate: those promoting Wine are missing 99% of all potential users. Take it from there.
Adapter software
Ridiculously complicated.
Like almost everyone else, I'll stick to Windows.
Life is too short.
Thanks for the video.
My favourite wine is spelt with an H
Cool however the example is for very trivial things that there is no motivation to install. A more practical example of let’s say Microsoft office, or visual studio will be more practical since in reality if someone needs it on Linux machine then he will use some kind of virtual machine running windows inside allowing him to install any windows stuff, similar to parallels on Mac
Not working for me sad
Whats the error?
@@ainz2579 It doesn't work for me either, when installing Stable Branch I get the error "E: The winehq-stable file could not be found"
@@k2karol_ instaed of using "winehq" use "wine"
@@k2karol_ use "wine" instead of "winehq"
Does it tell you to install manually?
even the first step returns "unknown option --add-architecture" 🤬
Always hated the terminal
How to Run Windows Programs on Linux using Wine???? Wine and playonlinux are same program????. Open Wine no playonlinux. Install a program for win on Linux . Want see tutorial installation. There are many tutorials on how to run a Windows program on Linux and also several apps. But they very rarely work. Much simpler is a dual boot win and Ubuntu as in my case. In fact half the video is just to install wine. Give an example of a Win program on Linux.
He gave you the example, notepad for wine 7zip for playonlinux
I’m gonna wack off tonight
Can i install Smokepatch Football Life on Linux with this step?
