Sun Tzu had some revolutionary ideas for how to handle all kinds of encounters, such as:
1. Consider lying.
2. Most people hate being set on fire.
3. Don't rush in blindly.
4. Have good connections.
Red Baron did the same just by painting his plane red....everyone was already scared shitless when they saw that plane ;) ...the art of war ;)
Hi Dave, nice to hear from you again about Sabaton! It's interesting every time to hear your thoughts on the tracks, so no need to apologize for that! That's also a reason why I like your reaction videos so much. The Art Of War is also great live when everyone sings along to the chorus.
What made Sun Tzu a great general was that he didn't want anyone to die, not even his enemies.
The man valued respect above all else. Fear can only get you so far respect can last you a lifetime
@@chrisumana7644 Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death.
@@madogthefirst That's written in Wu Qi's war manual not Sun Tzu. Wu Qi is more about instilling total discipline in your troops and inspiring love and respect from them by standing by them in hardships in order to crush his enemies through combat not so much guile.
Wu Qi's approach to battle is more of a Roman's way which attributed him to more than 100 battles and suffering no less than draws. Having a greatly disciplined army in a feudalistic Chinese warlord (having more peasants conscripted in times of war instead of professional soldiers which are few and only served as nobles' and dukes' personal retinue) helped.
If to fight is to result in victory then you must fight. Sun Tzu said that and I think he know a little more about fighting than you do pal because he invented. And then he perfected so that no living man can best him in the ring of honor. Then he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth. Then he herded all onto a boat, then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward anytime a bunch of animals are gathered in one place it is called a zoo, unless it's a farm.
Thanks Professor Dave, great job as usual. Keep them coming!
WHAT IT DO ITS MY BOY DAVE god i love your wholesome energy
yeah this song is another banger from this album. all in all zhis album is just awsome. has some of the greatest sabaton tracks on it.
Sabaton march 6. Royal Arena Denmark!!! I`ll be there !!
I have completely enjoyed your reactions to Sabaton's songs. I'm sure on more than one occasion my wife and kids caught me moving my head along with the songs with my headphones on.
if you dont know what you are doing your enemy wont know either
-sun tzu
This was my very first Sabaton song! =D
I can definately recommend reading it. It's not a difficult read and it's also quite short and can be read in small segments. I read it on my phone when I had some minutes of free time, like when waiting for something/one or when on the loo and similar things.
And it's very true that it can be used in a lot more circumstances than war. It's really a book on tactics, and tactics can be used all the time. The obvious ones are when playing games or during sport. Prepare well and fight only when you have the upper hand.
I play curling, a highly tactical game, and I use his wisdom all the time. Know your own teams strengths and weaknesses, know your enemies strengths and weaknesses. Surprise your enemy if possible. Bait him into doing what you want. A couple of times I have actually mentioned The art of war in discussions about tactics. Like after a game when people say that we played in a very different style than most other teams, I answer "Yes, because I have read The art of war.". :)
In my considerate opinion as a historian I would have to say while there are a lot of very *specific* books and treatises on war there are only truly *two* you need to know: *Sun Tzu's "The Art of War"* as a general theory on conflict solution and *Clausewitz' "On War"* on the hows and whys of this "Act of political will manifested in violence to force the enemy to comply with *our* will" - everything else besides these two is essentially period specific clutter.
Best regards
Raoul G. Kunz
Thoroughly enjoying this Sabaton hole you've fallen into
8:55 Since you understand/recognize culture melodies (I have noticed you do that a lot), I would love you to check out some System of a Down, no one sounds like they do. Maybe check out System of a Downs song called Soil, I hope you notice what no reactor on CZcams has yet to have recognized. I really love when musicians put specific scales into their songs and I always love when you point them out. Great Reaction, really love this song and its very inspiring, same goes for the stories you have told in this video.
Amazing video! I hope you react to more Sabaton!
im pretty sure the reason for the arabic scale is that, leader of the battle on 73 easting was very heavily inspired by the tactics of Erwin Rommel, who was inspired by Sun Tzu (idk the exact details, this is just speculation)
but the battle at 73 Easting was in Kuwait, which is in the middle east, which is kinda the arabic hotspot
You gotta hear sabatons metalizer. Its one of the very few sings tgey have that has nothing to do with battles or war heroes
Most of ideas from "The Art of War" is quite a thing in our days.
Even though this book had been written in V B.C.
That old man knew what he was doing.....it all still works today!
The US Army likes to say that defeat is a condition which occurs in the mind of the enemy commander.
Told you it was good. Glad you liked it.
Well done buddy ....as always!
From this album I also recommend a song called 'Union'.
5:20 Yoooo Facts Bro Facts
A song dedicated to chad comrade general commander sun “swag” tzu
All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.” SUN TZU . Another one is “Move swift as the Wind and closely-formed as the Wood. Attack like the Fire and be still as the Mountain.” one other one is and my personal fav Treat your men as you would your own beloved sons. And they will follow you into the deepest valley.”
There's a movie called 'Red Cliff' it's a movie about the battle of chibi during the three kingdoms era in china and the movie is exactly what you said
What it do Dave will win but never fight that's the art of war.
Reminds me of David Draiman of Disturbed who also tends to riff his own voice Indestructible is good example of this.
The solo is half guitar and half keyword.
Sun tzu book is a very good read also a great song and reaction as always
I would definitely recommend Attack of the Dead Men and Final Solution.
Have you ever thought about reacting to Epic History WW1? It’s a great series and I think you would love it! Keep up the great content! Wish you the best!

Awesome video as always Dave 😊
Alexander the Great you say? Have you reacted to Iron Maidens "Alexander the Great."?
Not related but if you havent heard newERB.
Yeah I saw yesterday on scrus twitter that it was comming today and that’s he’s in it actually playing Musa Musa.
I think it’s awesome how a rector to ERB gets to be in an actual ERB. Could you imagine me in one of thier battles? 🤣. Anyways, reaction to it will drop tomorrow.
You missed the ending line:
To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.
Yeah! never stop a sabaton video until it's over or the credits start rolling.
