Not only that, that "pop up cup holder". Defeats the purpose of the game.
Over thrown bags could bounce back and score. That would be unfair.

This advice fits more than just wood working. I follow alot of these same principles in my metal working shop. If its only something i can make, and i cant teach someone to make, it doesnt go to market

Very good analysis 👍 It’s counterintuitive, but some simple products carry ridiculous margins while other insanely complex ones are loss leaders. People in the wood industry tend to price based on Labor/materials. Unfortunately, that leaves a whole lot of significant variables out of the equation.

I am going to go to an ebanistery school next year to learn the skills. And I am thinking to start making wood product to sell from my basement. By looking at your videos I got under the impression that investing in a CNC would allow me to enter my local market, i.e. offer portrait to tatoo shops as an extra for their customers, without having to have great sklls. Do you think it is a good investment that early in my new journey? Thanks for your help and all the great value you post on your channel.

Really good advice. I wish I were a young person starting out in woodworking. But I am now elderly but LOVE to make stuff! So while I do have a unique items that sell well, it is not something I want to mass produce for cash. I make stuff for sale like 2x a year at local art fairs or as gifts to family. Just wish i had a do over in life to choose woodworking as a career.

Pretty amazing success if what you’re saying is true. Personally I wouldn’t buy your products for myself just cause they don’t fit into my everyday lifestyle not saying your work is bad by any means but I could see people buying your products more during the holiday season or gag gifts which could explain your revenue stream on these little projects

K, hang on - I honestly don't want to be a jerk, but $2 million in sales for the docking station??? Not sure what they sell for, but if they were around $40 that means you've sold 50,000 of them . . . . ?

Yes, next week I am going over how that product came to be and how we did over 2 million in sales with it. Also touching on all of the lessons I learned from it
