Thanks so much for watching this night to remember! Please let us know what you think below, and don't forget to subscribe to follow our journey around Thailand and around the world!
I did same thing in US two years ago. Still remember the scene and the ambience when thousands of lantern flying to the sky. loved it and thanks for bring that memory back to me.
Nice! I didn't know they did anything like this in the US. I've been to one with the floating water lanterns in the US, but not the flying lanterns. How nice that you got to experience it!
Wow, I planned to go to CM for Yi Peng festival in 2020 but I ended up going to Sukothai which is allegedly the original starting location for Loy Krathong. I think there is no such thing as a food shortage at any of these Thai events! Incredible to watch all the lanterns ascend into the night sky! I will be there in 2021.
That looks so magical with all the lanterns and fireworks. Didn't realize that it represents releasing sufferings. Cool that transportation and food was included
WOW, never experienced a lantern festival before, but would love to,as it looks so beautiful and calming. The whole traditional side of things make it seem so romantic and the food looked scrumptious. We loved it. ONE LOVE
We loved learned the meaning and traditions of this festival. Know the meaning made it so much more impactful. Thanks for watching guys! As you say, ONE LOVE!
This looked so magical!! I've always loved seeing photos and videos from the lantern festivals. Glad you only had one fire incident nearby. I always wondered about that!!
What a great intro. Thanks for sharing us this magical festival. Definetly a night to remember 🤩 Its so beautiful and breathtaking. Thank you for sharing it with us. 🤗
Wonderful! Must have been a great experience. I loved our short time in Thailand a number of years ago - even went to Chiang Mai, but didn't get to see this (we were a couple weeks late). Big like and full watch. Thanks for sharing it. Well done, my friends 👍. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day 😀.
Thanks so much Pontipe! We miss you too! We plan to be here another 6 months so let us know if you are coming back during that time. Hope you are well!
Yaaay, been waiting for this one 🤗 Super jealous, but so glad we got to experience this through your eyes 🤩 Your shots of all the lanterns in the night sky are simply magical 🌟 I can’t even imagine what it would look like in person. You two are really making the most out of your time in Thailand 😊
Such a wonderful lantern festival! I very much enjoyed watching this video. Beautiful costumes they have and baskets of food! You guys are so lucky to be stranded (😉) in Thailand! Such a wonderful festival, I would have cried if I was there.
Wow what an incredible experience! Seeing all of the lanterns in the sky was so beautiful. With all of the open flames you were bound to see one small fire right 😆 glad that was all though 😊
The lantern festival is so magical! We released sky lanterns in Taiwan and the first time ours went up in flames. It was quite scary because I thought I was going to burn my hands (and maybe it was a bad sign??) 😂 The music you paired with this vlog is perfect!
Thanks April! We hope to send up an lantern in Taiwan as well whenever we can get there. How scary that your's almost burned you. It's definitely not the safest tradition but it is a beautiful one.
This looks like an amazing event. Love how the food was served, so authentic! Always have a moral dilemma with lantern festivals as they look so so beautiful and love the thought behind it but the idea of the lantern remains just littering the environment seems bad. Noticed the poster you showed said this one was eco friendly, does that mean the lanterns burn entirely and leave no waste? The floating candles looked so pretty. Just heard you say they pick up the remnants so guessing there are some parts that fall.
Yes, the whole lantern falls back down to the ground eventually. They do their best to pick up all the lanterns the next day and the ones they can't find are designed to degrade easily. It's by no means perfect system, but they do their best to be as responsible as possible in order to keep this tradition alive.
We have always wanted to participate in a lantern festival! Is $106 for both of you? What were those fruits in the banana leaf? Magical and cathartic, the releasing of the lantern! Glad to hear they pick up the falling lanterns
No that’s per person! It’s definitely not cheap. It was still worth it though. Same price as a show in Vegas but you get dinner and to send a fireball into the air.
The traditional start, then seeing them going up in the air looks lovely. Only I hope they all used bio friendly materials because that was a real issue in Taiwan. The iron rings just kept stuck in forests and damaged nature. But it looks great!
The lanterns are advised as eco friendly, but who know what that really means. They do go out and pick up as many lanterns as they can find the next day though. The one's that they can't find are supposed to degrade quickly.
Many innocent homes buildings and forest are burnt down every year because of these flying lanterns to relieve somebody's suffering. Last Monday night a home and a building in Chiengmai city center fell victims, somebody have to recieved suffering of somebody else.
Hello! Id like to seek your advice. My mom and i are planning to go to the CAD lantern festival but unsure which ticket to get. Was it easy for you getting home after the event? Because i read and watched that even if they got the premier/vip tickets, they had a hard time going home and ended up in the red mini trucks instead of the airconditioned van they were in coming to the venue. So they suggest to get just the standard tickets. Thank you!
We got the standard tickets and didn’t have trouble getting home. I don’t have much experience with the VIP experience so I can’t really advise you on that. I believe VIP had more comfortable seating and better food as well though.
@@elangnevilos Yes, you do need to book in advance. They didn’t sell out the year we went, but now that tourism is back in full swing, I’m not sure whether they will sell out or not this year.

Very cool! We look forward to releasing a lantern in Taiwan as well!

@@LucasWorldTravel so glad you got to experience it!
Wow so awesome! We had no idea it was so comprehensive! Glad there wasn’t too many issues with the fire haha
Yes, we were glad it went pretty smoothly considering hundreds of people were playing with fire.
I think it is totally worth it :) Like for you👍

Great video. Was this after the pandemic? Thanks
It was right after lockdown in 2020, so Thailand was not fully open yet.

what time were you starting from your place to the festival?
We don't remember. I believe you meet at the meeting point at 4pm.
Hi, what time did the CAD shuttle get you?
I believe it was at 4:30pm but you really need to check their website to see what the times are this year.
who did you buy your tickets through please?
Through the CAD website. You should be able to google it. CAD Yi Peng Festival
Theres so many. I didnt know who to trust
Hi, is it safe for solo female travellers ?
Yes, Thailand is very safe for solo female travelers!
