Great video cuz. Been a long time since I walked on that mound. Thanks for taking me back to it ! Very cool …
Also I’ve always wondered why the other NW mound got so much attention and many people don’t even know that one exist but yet it’s twice the size 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

The mound at the park you were speaking of does have a cave that starts at the water and goes in. My father spoke of going in it when he was a kid in the 30’s. It was said that yes the woman and kids were hid in there during times of war. So I’ve heard.

The mound at the park doesnt have a cave but there is a cave about 1/2 mile from it . They say thats where the dirt came from to build the mound but im not sure thats fact. But im sure its the one he went in

@@SpiritoftheOutdoors I read on a display in the Choctaw Museum next to the Choctaw MS post office that the Choctaw say that the first people came out of a cave near the NW mound. I wonder if it is the same cave that you are talking about? If it is, then that is where the Choctaw creation story says they first came into the world. It's pretty neat that you've been there.

Just ran across this one… I shared a post on my FB that says Choctaw was created at these mounds. And that there is 3 mounds there in Nanih Waiya.
Obviously the main one on 393. Then this one (which I’ve never been to). So there is 1 more somewhere…. I was only familiar with the 393 mound and the cave. Is this mound near the cave?

Gotta laugh, Mississippi, about your comment about the dog and the wife. I've been married over 40 years. First fuss we ever had I said why can't you be like so and so. She always agrees with her husband. Wife said I can tell you what you want to hear. I could lie to you if that's what you want but I always want to tell you the truth. She's been telling me the truth for 40 years. Sometimes it gets kind of tough but when it gets right down to it I've got no use for a liar and a lot of respect for her. That's something a dog can't do. Plus, far as I can remember, she's never smelled like a skunk.

@@SpiritoftheOutdoors don't know if you've ever read that poem by Rudyard Kipling, IF, but if you haven't you ought to. I'm going on 69 and all those things he talks about in that poem have happened, in smaller or larger ways and sometimes from unexpected places. I look around now and what I see is my kids and the rock who has always stood beside me. That's my legacy and all the good I've ever done in this old world. May you be so lucky. That is a fine boy you've got there. Teach him that it's not what you are or what you've got but WHO you are that counts. My old Dad used to say, "Take care of your name. It's all you got." I listened some as a young man but never knew how much it would count until I started getting long in the tooth.
