Ian, nice step-by-step install of the fuel tank and all the connections. Removing the old tank can be pretty messy and a new tank is worth the money to replace. I also noticed during all your video's you have made it plain and simple build with great pride in your workmanship! Reminds me of all the workmanship that took place back in 1959 to build a Austin Healey Bugeye! Well Done!
I purchased a stalled Bugeye restoration and your channel has been extremely helpful. So thank you so much for your efforts. I would like to know where you were able to get the battery tray that you have. I have not been able to find a similar one and I would very much like to. Thanks again!!
Hi Rich. glad to have been of service. The battery tray is available from Moss Motors. The part number on their US site is 241-020, and on their European site it's AM7301. Cheers, Ian.
Good video. Had never seen the installation of the headlight assembly before. Assume you had to use the hole in the headlight groove in the bonnet and access from under the bonnet to set the chrome ring retaining screw?
He Gareth. I'm pretty sure it is from the Quebec company. I bought this one via E-Bay a long time ago. I did a bit of digging on their website (ecat.spectrapremium.com/en/parts/RO9C) and it appears that they don't sell at a retail level.
Hi, I have a Bugeye like yours and when I filled the tank up I noticed the tank leaks when full. The person who sold it to me said not to fill the filler tube as the gas would come out the overflow. My friends tell me the tank shouldn't leak no matter how full it is and suggest I pull the tank and find the issue. What are your thoughts?
My guess is that the gasket for the fuel sender is shot and leaking. It's on the top of the tank so you'll have to remove it for inspection. I put in a new tank and sender with all new gaskets.
Your build has been very helpful, thanks!
Thank you very much Rich, your support is greatly appreciated. Glad you're enjoying the videos!

Thanks Dan. I appreciate your kind words.
The body color cap looks good! I thought it was going to look odd, but it really looks nice.
Thanks Ken.

Yes, that is correct. Although I have yet to put the screws in place as the ring needs to come off to aim the headlights.
Very nice Ian. Is that one of the tanks from Quebec? I’ve never been able to find a supplier in Canada for them.
