Nathi celebrates Usiba Lwe Gazi's 1st Anniversary

Award-winning artist and songwriter, Nathi, celebrates the first anniversary of his fourth studio album, Usiba Lwe Gazi. Nathi takes a look back at the year he released his most personal album to date and reflects on some of the fan-favourite songs on the album.
The name of the album is loosely translated as “the feather pen of blood” which is interpreted as Nathi’s feather pen used to write the words/letters from his heart (with his blood as the ink).
Nathi is known for his majestic poetic writing and did not fail to deliver on this album either. The track list takes you on a journey that evokes emotions, thought provoking, dancing and singing along - which resembles life as we live it. The poetic nuance on each track is undoubtedly felt with the catchy melodies.
Usiba Lwe Gazi was written over 2020 and 2021 during a global pandemic - COVID-19 - during which Nathi lost both his parents due to the virus. The loss encouraged the poet to write a song to help those out of dark times titled ‘iThemba’ which means Hope. He also wrote and recorded a track titled iGazi for a television series titled 'Hush Money' after one of the executive producers, McMillan Masoka, turned to Nathi for a title sequence.
