- Br. Karel had some extra time during the pandemic, so he built a textile chest using 17th-century woodworking techniques (with some help from his new apprentice). Three and a half months worth of work in 15 minutes!
Be on the lookout later this fall when we will be auctioning this chest, along with other pieces by Br. Karel.

blown away. I love working with hand tools. Every step beautifully documented. Texturing the panels. Oh my. Draw bores, just everything is spot on. I’m going to tell everyone to watch this.
Superb.
FWIW I’d never put my hand in the way of any sort of hammer. Maybe not today or tomorrow but one day….😮
Always a pleasure to see that something beautiful can be made of wood without the requirement of a Powermatic 10 inch joiner, a Laguna Bandsaw or a Sawstop Table Saw........
MERCI ! Thanks bro Karel, you remind me when i was a kid looking my father working so many hours to build many pieces in our family home. Prayers and big kisses of admiration from Gatineau, QUÉBEC … XOX
Parabéns
Enjoyed your work and approach very much.
Great craftsmanship..i was mesmerised watching this
A meditative work of art, Brother Karel. I hope that it is awarded a public place of display in the abbey. Thank you for letting us see the master at work while Pambo played.
That chest is gorgeous! The music was lovely, too, and I appreciated the bonus Pambo.
Fabulous work and that chest will last for generations 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is incredible work and beautifully filmed - how does it have so few likes? Absolutely fantastic work, I love it! Br. Karel we are kindred spirits - I too (try to) make wooden furniture with hand tools only and I have a lovely rascally dog too :) What a joy to watch.
Incredible!
The traditional folk saying here is "Töö kiidab tegijat" - "The work praises the worker." - (signed) Toomas Karmo, in Nõo Rural Municipality, Estonia
Timeless and futuristic glueless sturdy draw bore assembly easily reversed for repairs or material recycling.
Beautiful.
This was fascinating to watch! What beautiful work. Thank you for sharing it. As usual the puppy steals the show!
WOW! The beauty of the material and craftsmanship are awesome. I just stumbled across your channel, thank you for sharing.
The puppy was cute.
Love that. Please more.
May I ask for details about your big frame saw you use for sawing veneer?
What was Jesus's first job?
