    Our family loves your very informative and entertaining shows! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day to share your knowledge with us! We are new to Florida and you helped us a lot in choosing and growing tropical fruit trees. ( Mangoes are our absolute favorite fruits also!) We are looking forward to seeing more of your videos, and meeting you sometime soon!

    Tastebuds on overload. PPK is soooo good! And yes PPK is perfect quick snack but ya eat 2-3. Guess I better add to my taste list for Pine Island this weekend. Thanks so much Chris. Always full of great information.

    I can never get anything beyond the regular Manila, Glenn, and Kent here in Phoenix. :( For all those who will say grow your own, I have tried but after last year freeze here, I have given up on it with 4 years down the drain. I need to go on a vacation during Mango season to Florida.

    If you had to choose to grow either Lemon Merengue, Lemon Zest or Orange Sherbet, which one would you choose?

    I've had several PPK's, but only one Lemon Zest.
    I'm surprised PPK is called Lemon Meringue. To me it taste like tangerine, especially by the skin. The Lemon Zest didn't have this extra flavor by the skin.
    I believe PPK and LZ are poor producers, whereas Orange Sherbet is not. I wonder how Orange Sherbet's flavor compares to PPK and LZ.

It has a coconut cream taste to it but I don't believe it's a coconut cream mango

    • @s.fla.beekeepingmangoesand1517
      @s.fla.beekeepingmangoesand1517 Před 3 lety +1

      No. It must be grafted.

    • @UberGastronomer
      @UberGastronomer Před měsícem

      Yes! The seeds are polyembryonic for both LZ and PPK, so it is possible to split the seed into the multiple embryos and some of those will be clones of the original (but one will be different from the parent).
      Usually the tallest and most vigorous ones are the clones and the odd one out is the off-type.
      This is not true for monoembryonic mangos of Indian origin, but many southeast asian mangos and their hybrid offspring are polyembryonic.

    Thanks, Chris. Is the Lemon Zest dwarf, semi-dwarf or full size? Also, do you have any videos on squirrel control? I notice you don't bag your fruit. I do and they still get to it!
    Thank you!

      Our best squirrel deterrents are
      1) Reducing the airways. Squirrels prefer jumping from tree to tree instead of running on the ground.
      2) Having dogs. The dogs have never caught a squirrel, but they often chase them away.

      It is against CA laws to ship mango or mango trees from FL to CA. My friend and I have tried. It was confiscated. We did not know why. Then they told us.
