same here. @ 12 yrs I got The Residents Commercial Album and a double Friedrich Nietzsche book, in New Orleans. sort of a rites of passage. lol That is good parenting IMO!
I was there. We had a night off from our tour and happened to be staying in Oslo. No one else wanted to go, so I went alone. One of, if not the best show I’ve seen.
I got to see this live in Madison WI 2002. Their stage set was more simple than the past, but the performance was priceless. A girl with a huge flashbulb and camera took a picture of me looking at residents merch, and then disappeared behind a curtain!
Thank you Residents for being an inspiration my whole adult life and most of my life as a songwriter! I can't even think of another band that has been so creative for so long. I got to catch this tour in NYC and it was one of the best shows I have ever had the privilege of attending hands down.
They still tour (whatever mysterious vexations the band utters to stay alive I have no idea). Go see them if you can. I've only seen them once despite being a fan for 40 years. Even in stripped down show like Wonder of Weird which I caught in 2014. You will be transformed. This band, in any of its guises, connects many, many worlds and wonders.
love the Residents. I'm from Lafayette, LA originally (where they said they saw James Brown) and I went to the college there. I'm pretty sure my dad was at that show, too. Thinking about James Brown driving following the Residents through town is probably the coolest thing to ever happen that no one knows about (and some might not even care about).
Last (and first) time I saw the Residence (with Snakefinger) was around 85 or 86 in Australia. They said this was their final tour. Here they are nearly 40 years later. Do these guys never give up? Thank God they don't.
David Beier There was 4 originally and 2 of them are still in and going strong. Keep in mind they are in their 70's most bands have long gone before they even get to 10 years as a band. These guys have gone past 50 years as band
that chorus gives me shivers. very nice song, the audience know what it's about. it's strange how the residents are capable of doing such dissonant songs to very nice ones like this (and everything inbetween).
and to think!!...i first found out about the residents when i stubbled upon some website that had the top 20 musical groups with masks!!! their music and stage antics and everything is the most original thing done to music in the past 40 years and i can't believe not a lot of people know about these guys!!! long live the residents!!!!!
Listen to caring. Or the weatherman. Or the entire not available album. They have more accessible stuff. This song is awesome. I've grown to love nearly everything the Residents have ever put out. When I first heard them, I hated them. I thought they were terrible and that they couldn't play their instruments. Listen more closely and you'll find that these guys are actually geniuses. The Residents are in the NY Museum of Modern Art for inventing the music video. What mark have you left?
for me, the Rez R still no 1 in Music. This is the real surealism in music. nothing else can reach this... I saw this video many time before but they improve the quality. this is really a hot staf in very good quality indeed. RazyRezfan Israel Whish they come back again here.
@MrJacobFennell to answer a couple of your questions - Snakefinger contributed to Residents albums pretty often, but wasn't considered a real member. He died in 1987 and the band continued well after that. Their last real album was in 2008 I think, but they're still working on more music. Oh, and no one really knows who they are, but many think the management team that does interviews in their place are actually The Residents themselves.
I still remember how I saw the first picture of The Residents. It was somewhere in the early 80s and they were there with their "eye apple" things on their heads. ha ha
I was lucky enough to see this tour when they came to Atlanta...this part of the show was one of the highest points! Feels good to see it again!! I don't prefer a lot of of their newer works, but this song is moving!
Rest in Peace Hardy Fox. You will be deeply missed.
Makes no difference how rudimentary or bizzare they can be. There is something about The Residents that cannot be ignored. A truly great band.
The Residents for Presidents.
i grew up listening to The Residents thanks to my dad. couldn't be happier.
You have an awesome dad!
same here. @ 12 yrs I got The Residents Commercial Album and a double Friedrich Nietzsche book, in New Orleans. sort of a rites of passage. lol That is good parenting IMO!
same, got the mole show on vhs thanks to him
Great parenting, if i had kids i would take my kids too. love from Rotterdamn man
The guy in front looks like he loves them but doesn’t understand why.
I've been a fan for 40+ years and still have that look sometimes ...LOL
I'm with him on that one
i think he understand better than many
Oh, he understands why.
@@zeitok8 I see from that way
This is my favorite Residents songs, and i can't stop watching this video over and over again!
This is surprisingly straightforward for the Residents.
I was there. We had a night off from our tour and happened to be staying in Oslo. No one else wanted to go, so I went alone. One of, if not the best show I’ve seen.
"If we weren't living in a country that's pimping war to save our SUVs . . . life would be wonderful." Couldn't have said it better myself.
I saw this same show in San Diego at a small club and loved every second of it
My 17 year daughter LOVES The Residents.
so do my kids
hope for the future! you're parenting right.
When my daughter Djuna was a baby she really loved the music of The Residents ~ especially Duck Stab
Just the best of the best. Thanks Residents for going on after all these years!
I have just discovered this band and I absolutely love them.
I happen to be wearing a resident's t shirt right now. I felt the need to hear this once again. Love it.
I got to see this live in Madison WI 2002. Their stage set was more simple than the past, but the performance was priceless. A girl with a huge flashbulb and camera took a picture of me looking at residents merch, and then disappeared behind a curtain!
Amazing band, just discovered them, imagine that! Been quite a journey..
⚠Some people will never understand true creative genius⚠ This is pure creative☾ genius!
COSMIC SPACE JIVE VIDEOS How exactly?
The Residents help make life wonderful!
Greatest song about the music industry ever
brilliant band...i need to hear them every day
Thank you Residents for being an inspiration my whole adult life and most of my life as a songwriter! I can't even think of another band that has been so creative for so long. I got to catch this tour in NYC and it was one of the best shows I have ever had the privilege of attending hands down.
The Residents are next level and too good to be on MTV
This is a Truly a Wonderful experience to sit down, relax, and listen to the outlandish beauty of The Residents!
They are masters. Maybe THE best art ever to exist! and very few know it!
As a huge residents fan I would love to see them live
They still tour (whatever mysterious vexations the band utters to stay alive I have no idea). Go see them if you can. I've only seen them once despite being a fan for 40 years. "...living in a land that's pimping war to save our SUVs..." -- Awesome line - so true !
This is really the Residents at their most reflexive...this may be the only time they reveal THIS much of themselves.
Seen these guys play live,so amazing!
If you're a fan of the Residents you'll probably like TISM, they took a lot of inspiration from the Residents in their early work.
@@commemorative thank you,l am also familiar with Tism(l m on the drug, that killed River (Phenix)sp
You don't need drugs to appreciate this! Even a straight edge Scottish dj/ producer can enjoy this genius art!
Happy Birthday Hardy. Rock in Peace & Blessed Be. With love from your eternal Eyeball Buddy, sharonthedyslexicmess.
this song sends chills up my spine
what an amazing band!!!
one of my milestones as a teenager
I grew up listening to the Residents I was at this show down in front of
Thought it was going to be them playing the original version, so great the way they reworked it for this performance
Awesome. Just started listening to them.
Greatest band in the world .period
Last (and first) time I saw the Residence (with Snakefinger) was around 85 or 86 in Australia. They said this was their final tour. Here they are nearly 40 years later. Do these guys never give up? Thank God they don't.
Sorry, I meant nearly 30 years later.
David Q I bet you most of the original members have probably left.
David Beier There was 4 originally and 2 of them are still in and going strong. Keep in mind they are in their 70's most bands have long gone before they even get to 10 years as a band. These guys have gone past 50 years as band
Down to one as of 2016
snmekr meeker 2017, actually. I remember seeing on Fox's site that Charles had contributed to The Ghost of Hope. And that was most likely his final.
Absolute MASTERPIECE !
VIVA THE RESIDENTS !!!!
i love songs that have spoken anecdotes. check out taming the dragon by brad mehldau, similar thing.
This song is on my crisis playlist. I find it very comforting.
These musical geniuses are too amazing for anyone to hate them.
1:24 this man approves!
Steve M 😂😂😂😂😂
Steve M the look on his face really made my day!
one of my fav res performances!
Damn, I can't believe how from the heart that was. Nearly brought tears to my EYES.
The Residents are my heroes through and through.
I'm sure it's always dangerous to think that the Residents are actually saying something about themselves, but this sure feels like they were.
I could listen to this song forever
They had great concert in Belgrade in septembar 2003. They were surprised with full audience and frantic cheering ...i was there - Great night .
Great. Love the James Brown story.
Love the james brown story as well!!
Yes. The demon gave birth to an eyeball with a hat. No doctor. I swear, I am NOT crazy!
Wonderful avatar!
I love this song :)
WONDERFUL ;-)
that chorus gives me shivers.
very nice song, the audience know what it's about.
it's strange how the residents are capable of doing such dissonant songs to very nice ones like this (and everything inbetween).
I saw Demon's Dance Alone for all 3 times for the New York leg of the tour. It was wonderful.
Love These Guys!!
