Yeah, 1989, techno club hit. Everytime this song came on, we were out on the dance floor. Even those of us who couldn't dance to save our lives, lol. Great memories
Yeah great times!!!!
I was 21 in 1989, and I was just the same. Used to play it on my Walkman and find it hard not to "pump it up" while walking down the street. Pump it up a lil more!
Yeah same here such a big club song. Everybody was on the dance floor when this came on. Man great times back then 🤔🤗
I was dancing to this song when you were just twinkle in your fathers eye
I remember this from an all-nighter in Glasgow 89, this went on at 6am and took the roof off the place
This was a HUGE club song! When I had my mobile deejay business back in the early '90s, this was a staple I played that never failed to pack the dance floor.
It's viral for decades now
These songs are what kind of transitioned the 80s into the 90s in music. So fun and gets you dancing every time!
I was 29yrs old THEN, can't believe it, but do remember playing this song with my friends at home!!!!!
C & C Music Factory Gonna Make You Sweat, Miami Sound Machine Conga, Commodores Brick House always brought everyone out on the floor,
Oh yeah. I danced to this in clubs 😂 and did my aerobics to it! I’m going to revive it for my exercise routine today 👍 I’m now 56 😊 but I feel the same age as I did when I danced to this back in the day.
Another song like this is Black Box “ride on time”
Have you heard 'love Sensation' by Loleatta Holloway the origins of this song 👍
Now that's a 🎶 👍
Omg i always thought it was right on time lol
yes ! yes !
@@whathandleUtalkabt thats correct thats where that sample was used
OMG, when Jay put his hands up I nearly lost it .... LMAO. 🤣 3:33
🤣😅😂💯
FUN!!! 😀
I just love this guy.. You can’t help but smile with him!😊😊
Quality ohhhhh hey lol
The late 80's/early 90s club sound...my friends and I lived for the weekends dancing to all these songs. We used to regularly go out with about 10-20 of us guys and take over clubs dancing. Fridays were designated as all-out dancing, so we literally had on high-tops, shorts and t-shirts and would be sweating up a storm. Saturdays were still about dancing, but it also focused a bit more on the ladies, so we'd be wearing our Girbaud pants, collared, short-sleeved shirts and wing-tip shoes...these were crazy times. Here is just a few of the songs that, when you heard the first few beats there would be a bum-rush to the dance floor: The Sugarhill Gang “Rapper’s Delight”, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five “The Message”, Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock “It Takes Two”, Soul II Soul “Back to Life’”, De La Soul “Me, Myself and I”, Young MC “Bus A Move”, C+C Music Factory “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)”, Deee-Lite “Groove is in the Heart”, Snap! “The Power”.
Coming out the clubs with steam coming out your head , yes thems were the days
One day, Jayvaun you should do a club night of non stop dancing music on a zoom venue or something. I'd pay ticket entry to hang out and dance with this here Jayvetv crowd...
Yes, yes and HELL YES!!! All of the above!!
We definitely lived for the weekend.( which is actually another good song to check out "Living For The Weekend" and Just Got Paid.
I turned 21 in ‘89 which was a PERFECT time to hit the clubs. So much fun!
I was 19 when This came out would dance all night to this House Music.. about to turn 50..and I still no all the word;s and keep up!
This came out in my last year of high school. I was underage but snuck into the local club and danced my booty off! Lots of fun. You must listen to Soul II Soul. Amazing band.
This song was the jam. The "instrument" is called a synthesizer. The genre is Techno. I still dance to it. It was played in house parties, Birthday's, weddings, etc.
Now do Pump Up The Volume by MARRS. It’s classic 80’s dance music
Yes great tune and Clouds across the Moon Rah Band
Yes, please do MARRS next!
Just for fun, please listen Deee - Lite song "Good Beat" the original version. It takes the elements from this MARRS song that you can hear clearly, yet it is different. :)
Yessss!
It's actually a very 90s Sound.
OMG I danced many nights at the club with this jam lol totally loved this!! Was 20 years old when this came out, some of the best times of my life
DEEE-LITE - “GROOVE IS IN THE HEART” ❤️
You will definitely dance to this too JV! It came out around the same time too!
Your Groove I do Deeply Dig!
Disco, New Wave, Freestyle, Techno, Rave, Electronica, Vocal Trance, Dance-pop!! I LOVE all of it!!!!!! 70's 80's & 90's FOREVER!!!
Oh yeah. I danced to this in clubs 😂 and did my aerobics to it!
"Groove is in the heart", "Things that make you go hmmm", "Vogue".... try a couple of these.
Great list!
Definitely "Groove is in the Heart" by Deee-Lite
Yes, yes and yes.
''groove is in the heart'' for sure! Has Bootsy Collins in it . ''Electric avenue'' eddie grant i think...''The message'' another great song.
If I may add....
C&C MUSIC FACTORY
"EVERYBODY DANCE NOW"
and
M.A.R.R.S. - PUMP UP THE VOLUME
P.S.- He already reacted to Buffalo Stance just search jayveetv buffalo stance it'll be there! No it's not. My mistake. It's over on his other channel vimeo.com
✌❤🎶😁
I feel like this song kick started the 90s with those dance moves and outfits
I’m DYING!! 😂😂 Haven’t heard this in so long!! “You gonna disappoint her?” Jay you kill me! Keep dancin’!!
Early 90s techno dance, what a nice surprise. “2 Unlimited” is one of the biggest names those days.
No no ...lol
They really ruled the early 90s dance floors with tons of great hits (Tribal Dance, No Limits, Get Ready for This, Twilight Zone, The Real Thing, No One, Magic Friend,...)
2 Unlimited were among the top ones.
And all are from Belgium, 2 unlimited is a Belgian techno group, music and lyrics by Belgians, singing and performances by Dutch people Ray and Anita.
More early Belgian stuff: Sound of C, T99 (Anasthasia) Quadraphonia
Lol! This was my jam back then.Yes I'm that old. 😁
I literally was power walking to this song a few hours ago😂😂😂
Takes me back to my early gym years, I was 18. The aerobics lounge was next to the weight lifting area, and we listened to this song coming from there all the time!!! LOL.
Moving into 90s dance scene... Time to listen Faithless and Insomnia. Absolutely brilliant. Still gets you going years later.
Technically this is NEW BEAT ( House music from Belgium at that time).
+ little bit of hip-house :-)
""" DISCO INFERNO "" by the ' TRAMMPS ' ITS PERFECT !!!!!!!!
Burn, Baby Burn!
Yes! Always loved it!!!
You have to remember, during this time dance clubs or “discos” were making a comeback. This music is SO MUCH BETTER IN A CLUB!
You wanna great dance tune... *Back To Life* by *Soul II Soul* is fantastic. It thumps.
SNAP! Rhythm is a dancer... Top techno tune.
you should definitely check their other song "Get Up"
and also Snap! "rhythm is a dancer", "Mary had a little boy", "The power"
1989 this was in the Clubs , I was 15 god only knows how I got in them clubs , this is old skool New york house music
This has to be one of the songs that completely defines the club scene in the late 80s. It can still get the clubs jumping today when it is played. I remember when those first few notes played people began to flock to the floor.
This was the very end of the 80's welcome to the 90's a literally turned on my radio one day and gone was my mainstream 80's music replaced by this dance music on a new radio station that called itself the "Power Pig"!!!
I liked it of course, but the music changed for me literally overnight!!!
Great memories!!!
Best days of my life
Same, this was the song that changed our music tastes.
KLF are a house music group worth checking, "what time is love" justified and ancient" (with country legend Tammy Wynette on vocals) " or "last train to transcentral" KLF are also infamous for setting fire to a million pounds as an artistic project and political statement, they destroyed an actual million pounds !!
Don't forget 3 AM Eternal!!!
@@dennisvanhelden9253 of course, I remember owning a 12" with different mixes, their sleeves were usually excellent as well, that one was all matt black with the KLF logo embossed on it in gloss black !!
This is from 89 and the girl is just an actress Ya Kid K is the actual singer/rapper and the style is called New Beat it's a fusion of Chicago House and Detroit Techno
Yo Jay, what you're hearing in TECHNOTRONIC (techno/electronic) is best described as the fusion of rap, house, disco trance dance music! Pump Up the Jam gets the party started, working up a sweat. In this video however the actual lead singer, MC Ya Kid K, is not featured. The women you see was a backup dancer they used because Ya Kid K was the first androgynous rapper. She looked too much like a little boy dressed in her "hood drag". So the record company pushed this video until there was push back from music fans, denying her gender identity even though many music artists were doing that very thing in the 80s. Here's a link to a live performance feat Ya Kid K
czcams.com/video/AuJAiZsM7QM/video.html
Wow..I'll have to see that..so I'm watching. Thanks for the info..it;s great learning so much more about song you love.
@@lawrencekelli check out the song she did for the soundtrack to the turtles movie. czcams.com/video/LtRYsKCdjBs/video.html
Randall it’s actually Belgian 🇧🇪 New Beat which is a heavy influence of early pioneering Chicago House and Detroit Techno, the bass line is a sample of Farley’s Jackmaster Funks Acid Life, it’s Disco influences Is more so embedded in House not direct.Trance as we know it didn’t really start to surface until 93 95 or so with Jam And Spoon & Talla2xlc
@ZeUs Belgian New Beat more like Fax Your Self “ walking on sunshine would be closer to 89 90, though Torsten Fenslau did later cash in on the whole Euro Dance craze with Culture Beat right before the hard Techno rave explosion started
Ya Kid K was minor then and couldn't be featured in the video so they used that backup singer to mime. I always knew in the moment I watched that that big black girl had nothing to do with Ya Kid's tomboy voice and style
This song was an amusement-park ride staple when I was a kid. A fast-moving ride with lights and music, spinning under the stars...fond childhood memories.
Try Young MC's "Bust A Move".
Yes!!! This!!! Then Funky Cold Medina by Tone Loc!😎
And for some added fun!!
Have to add Skee-lo "I Wish", and the Humpty Dance (Digital Underground) to that list.
@@paulhughes4117 Ahhh... the siren call of my middle and high school dances. Nothing like doing the Humpty in a formal!
Another great one! Also Tone Loc - Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina!!✌❤🎶😁
Tone Loc - Funky Cold Medina and Wild Thing!✌❤🎶😁
Just as you say it was played at my local youth club on repeat we all loved it ! Another brilliant technotronic song called "Get Up" it's so good too dance too !
Next reactions should be bel biv devoe " Poison" and Keith Sweat "make you sweat"
Keith Sweat 👍👌
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Euro house is one of the best most energetic genres. There’s a reason why these songs went from the clubs and raves to the gym. Other brilliant ones:
“Rhythm is a Dancer” by Snap!
“Mr Vein” by Culture Beat
“Rhythm of the Night” by Corona
“I’m a Gonna Make You Sweat” by C+C Music Factory
“Ride in Time” by Black Box
“What is Love” by Haddaway
I was on the dance floor after the first few beats ... The 80s were awesome ...
Great club song, takes me back🥰 Inner City - Good Life & Betty Boo - Hey DJ I Can't Dance also worth a listen.
EVERYBODY DANCE NOW by C&C MUSIC FACTORY is another great 90's techno song!!
Have a Nice Day!✌❤🎶😁
I remember when this first came out, played at every party and nightclub too. Still a great song too, those beats are awesome.
Great Memories of skateboarding around in a circle to this, in my garage.
Definitely has that late 80s sound. The Teddy Riley New Jack Swing came shortly after and ushered in most of the songs I love and remember from my high school years. 💯💯👌🏽
They played the $#it out of this song back in the day! Puuuummmpp Up The Jammm!
: )
This is one of the songs they played a lot when I used to go rollerskating in the early 90s.
This brings me back to the dancefloor as a 16-17 yr teen. Love your reaction!
"This beat is technotronic" is also a cool song 😉
Another 90s Smashhit is from Corona Rythm of the Night and thats no Joke Jovan
They played this song so much on the radio that my friend and I changed the chorus to, "Ham on rye with mayonnaise..." just to entertain ourselves.😆 Great song to dance or exercise to. 😁
Hey Jay ..! ... We were ALL waiting for 'ya to stand up and get into the groove man ..!
The female rapper in the song is called Ya Kid K. She did a great tune called Spin That Wheel around the same time as this. It was featured on the soundtrack for the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film in 1990.
I really loved this era of music. Snap and Blackbox were two other groups that made some great music. I still listen to Black Box's album Dreamland to this day. It's still brilliant.
Oh hell yea! I still jam to some Technotronic!! Hitting the clubs in early 90's, this is all you heard.
This was played everywhere. Still my favorite dance song. I smiled when you started to dance. I can't keep still when I hear it.
My daughter was born in 88 and she was 2 singing Bump up the jam, lol. Love this song, and it's senthesizers.
C’mon Jovaughn! Keep the party going!! Now ya GOTTA do-
Pure Energy- by Information Society And Gonna make you sweat - by C+C music Factory.
Good Vibrations- Marky Mark and the funky bunch.
Now that we found love- heavy D and the boys.
All of this!
YAAAAAASS!!! All great suggestions!
1989, and that girl in the video is a model/dancer standing in for the real performer, the girl rapping is named Ya Kid K. Theres a version somewhere with the actual artist rapping her own lyrics.
This was everywhere in 1989, great tune. The actual lead singer was not used for the video, but she did get out on tour, I think in the US round that time. She’ll be close to 50 now & she’s conning for you JayveeTv 😂😂😂
This used to play all the time at the clubs back in the 90s glad you enjoyed!
Here's a few more dance classics..
Snap. " The power"
"rhythm is a dancer"
Bel biv devoe "poison "
Jagged edge "lets get married Remarqable mix"
Digital Underground "the humpty dance"
Sir Mix Alot "Baby got back"
Here in Chile back at 1992 this track was THE song of the year, it was definitely a big part of the House music era everywhere. Glad you liked it in 2021 😊⚡🎹🎼
Old school Jam! My Brother. Man...this song takes me back! Love it! 👍👍👍😊😊
As somebody else said Black Box Ride On Time ,great dance song and the vocals are something else
I saw Technotronic live in a crowd of around 80,000 in 1990 when they supported Madonna on her Blonde Ambition tour. Some other suggestions from that era, Black Box with Ride on time, Yazz with The Only way is up, Blue Pearl with Naked in the rain and 2 Unlimited with Get ready for this
They tried to kill us with this song in Aerobics, TaeBo and spin cycling by playing this song for maximum effort.
It’s a double-time dance step that has a distinctive Euro-tech-pop club hit.
We all needed a drink after this song was over but then they’d hit us right back with Buffalo Stance to get us back into the dance groove on the floor.
Fun times, clubbin’
The dancing gets me every time!😂😂😂😂👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼love it
This (with a dj seamlessly transitioning into 2 or 3 subsequent long dance mixes) was how we all got our cardio back in the early '90s. 🏃♀️🏃♂️💪❤
You gotta be kidding me, Pump up the Jam?! Never thought I'd see this song on here XD Fun stuff man. This music video is definitely in that weird time when things were coming out of the 80's into the 90's! I'd like you to listen to some Daft Punk! Around the World comes to mind for some reason even if it's not my fave of theirs!
Daft Punk - yesssss! Random Access Memories was a great album, but Around the World is such a classic of theirs
@@1paradox As far as Daft Punk goes, I mostly only listen to Discovery but for some reason I felt the Around the World music needed to be watched! I never heard RAM so I dunno any of the songs from it.
@@SammyRebbo Discovery was another great album! If you decide to check out RAM at some point my favorite from that album is "Doin' in right". Some other good ones on that album are Lose Yourself to Dance, Instant Crush, and Get Lucky.
@@1paradox I've been meaning to listen to RAM but never got around to it. Who knows if I ever will XD
@@SammyRebbo c'est la vie lol
I grew up with this artist love Technotronic this stuff was played on B94 a local Pittsburgh station they played a lot of Technotronic songs!
Their other track 'Get Up'.....even better than Pump Up The Jam.....better base
I think Move This was better.
Jay you needed to be at the clubs with me back in the day
Hi Jayvee! This song is a Classic, iconic and epic in the end of 80's. It's a Belgian group, precursor of "new beat" music. I believe it's their first song in 1989 and a smash hit all over Europe (Belgium, Spain, Netherlands, England, France, Germany, Austria,etc...) even No.1 in Canada and in USA in all the charts!!!: Platinum and Gold disc.
It exists a longer version which is in the CD album or Maxi CD.
I remember i bought this album in cassette (shorter versions) and after in CD (longer versions).
For this single, unfortunately Felly isn't the real singer!!! It's Manuela Kamosi who sings in the other songs like "Get Up (Before The Night Is Over)" in 1990 on which you should react, the "follow up" which is a bomb!
Thomas De Quincey alais Jo Bogaert is the composer and the producer of the following singles: Get Up, Move This, This Beat Is Technotronic, Rockin' Over The Beat, ... and Turn It Up with Melissa and Einstein.
Pump Up The Jam had a "sequel" in 1996 which had less success and in 1998 then 2005 by D.O.N.S.
Thanks from France.
Amo esa banda. 😍 escuche technotronic desde los 90's desde los 11 años. Siempre los escucharé. Abrazos desde Colombia.
The soundtrack to my childhood! 80's kid, 90's teenager. Those were the days!
Here you go, upbeat songs --->>>100% Pure Love & Gypsy Woman by Crystal Waters...Strike It Up & Everybody, Everybody by Black Box....Also, Mr. Vain by Culture Beat.
Europeans stay killin it with the house music.
This song was massive, I was only 10 when this dropped and we used to dance all through my neighborhood to this.
Doing the running man and ish lol
Great choice!
Technotronic was formed in Belgium in the early 80s. Good times!!
Late 80s early 90s, Techno dance. One of the best club floor fillers
That disco vibe you hear is the sound that early house music embraced.
this reminds me of the song by deee-lite, "Groove is in the Heart." Both great songs... seeing lots of other people recommending that song also. :)
We danced this in after hours/clubs in Miami Florida in 1992-3 or 4 in clubs for under 21 yrs olds. So much fun. In Miami Fl. It’s fun for us and we hope that for u (newer, the new generation) that we all came together to this music and danced the night away
Brings back the memories
Pumping Up the Jam ....
Auckland, New Zealand, 1989 ..
21, Newly Married ..
Make My Day !!
wow, brings back party times I was 25 when this was released. Everyone had a great time.
Another club classic is Theme from S Express by S Express.
This jam would be considered techno/ house music and it's fun!
This is still contagious. I grew up with synth pop and alt rock. But this came to be early 90’s idk mix between pop/synth and a true mix of urban type music and techno/dance. Love iiiiit
The early and mid 90s were my clubbing days and this song was a must have every night
KLF justified & ancient Tammy joins the JAMMs ! Official video awesome!
1989. I was 4-5 yrs old and I remember so well when it was out trying to dance like they use to dance back in the days!! Lol
When this came out, i rushed over to my local record store and bought my first cassette at 14 with my own money😊
This song was the birth of 90's dance.
now THIS brings me back to my college days LOL This kinda sparked a resurgence of disco music from my point of view. This then branched out to dance music, house music, techno, trance, etc. Here I am almost 50 years old and this is my kind of music LOL
This is why I love the 80's so much!
The girl in the video was a model who was lip-synching - the vocals were done by Ya Kid K who later appeared in Technotronic videos.
Technotronic made dance music known to the world. They started it all.
Your pouting face and moves had me dying haha sooooo much fun JV!!
