  • It's time to get CO2 on Fallen Forest, so let's walk through step-by-step on how to set up a brand new CO2 system on your aquarium. Thanks to Aquarium Co-Op for providing me with their new CO2 regulator, the expandable manifold and the neo diffuser.

    Great walk through for setting up CO2. Been thinking about setting up co2 for my 40g. Maybe one of these days after i can bite the bullet for start up cost lol

    Great tutorial on the setup! Not a Co2 user, but you make me curious. Thanks for all you do, Bentley!!

    Looking forward to seeing what brand canister you selected! 😊 I have directed a couple of planted aquarium beginners to your channel. Looking forward to next installment of the fallen forest. p.s. so cool that you and your wife worked on this together. My latest project has been a collaborative effort with my husband. p.s. saw the last QA - yeah for the question about crypt parva. I just planted some in my new tank and love it, the wee spade shaped leaves are adorable.

    Maybe add some Scarlet Temple it would add some nice red pop to the mid / background. I'm sure you got some laying around the house. Really cool to see you go for the aquascape approach on this one. If your gonna do a canister, maybe do some Lilly pipes too.

    Looking good Bentley I think you need something with a little color plant wise but it’s gonna look great no matter what you decide

    Very nice to see the engineering, long form, technical video for CO2. Hopefully this removes a lot of fear and intrepidation when it comes to someone wanted to dose in CO2 but was concerned about how.

      Only thing I wish was there.... And I've made the mistake a few times. Where do all the dials need to be when you turn on the CO2 tank. Does the "working pressure" valve orientation matter. Etc.
      Why they can't put arrows on those dials I don't know. I constantly turn them the wrong way. Blocks changing in size confuse me I guess because the hi/low are so close together.

    This exact situation is happening to me. I just set up my aquascape and I was committed to not using co2 but the melt is not worth it so I'm installing co2 today. I have a quick question about emersed grown stems like rotala. I have been letting them sit in there with their lead weight on to look for new growth as you suggested. Should I plant them into the substrate now and then trim the emersed growth eventually and replant the tops/submerged growth or just leave them in?

    Hey Bentley,I enjoyed that because I know nothing at all about CO2,to be honest it's always confused me,call me a CO2 dummy no problem🤣
    I wondered tho,is it basically the same process on all CO2 setups as you have shown or are some different.
    Apologies for my CO2 ignorance!!!
    👍✌️👌

    Hey bentley .. what is the brass seal thing inside the outlet of the co2 bottle

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  Před rokem +1

      It's part of the gasket system that prevents gas leakage

  • @Venom746

    So once the line and diffuser gets filled with the co2 pressure, would that cause the bubble counter to slow down a bit as well? For mine the bubbles will speed up but only until my Bar diffuser is filled then the bubble per sec comes down as well.

  • @nabokovfan87
    @nabokovfan87 Před rokem

    Question, maybe a video topic. On your pearling anubias clip I was informed that a stream of bubbles like that isn't pearling but is leaf damage and gas escaping. Is there a difference in the way some plants pearl?
    (From what was shown and mentioned to me was that "real" pearling is when the gas bubble forms on the leaf itself and sort of holds there while it builds then is ejected to the surface. So the plant will just have it's normal appearance, but a bubble on the surface of the leaf.)

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  Před rokem

      It depends, there was other pearling in the tank, that was just the most obvious

    Howdy Bentley!!! Would it work to somehow diffuse the c02 in the return chamber of a sump and let the returns push it into the tank 🤷🏼‍♂️

    can't tell if my regulator I bought used has an issue or what - I had a tank partially filled and installed and everything was working great (this is my second regulator, first one works perfect) - but then it said the tank was empty (there was still some CO2 in the tank though) after like a week? so after getting that tank swapped out I installed this morning and after installation I put soapy water on the regulator in different areas and turned on the tank and solenoid and I didn't see any leaks so I wonder if I have a faulty gauge or what.
    FWIW when I tested the regulator just a few minutes ago it did show a healthy amount of pressure in the tank so not sure what happened to the first try. Hopefully it was just me installing it poorly.

      @BentleyPascoe  Před 8 měsíci

      Interesting, could be the install or a somewhat faulty gauge. Keep an eye on it and use your warranty if it keeps acting up

  • @nabokovfan87
    @nabokovfan87 Před rokem

    Does the solenoid always move around freely or did you tighten it down?

    I need to upgrade my CO2 regulator from a Fzone inexpensive one to something better. The needle on the Fzone is very hard to set. I’ve narrowed it down to the CO2art SE series or the AquariumCoop regulator. Do you have any experience with the SE regulator? How does it compare to the Aquarium Coop one? They are similar in price. Also, it has been about 6 months since your Aquarium Coop installation video…do you have any reaction and comments? Still recommend it?
    Thanks, Jeff

    hay, you need to add a check valve on the co2? And a timer.

    • @gunnerneikoify
      @gunnerneikoify Před rokem

      No need for a check valve with the Co-op regulator/manifolds. They have built in check valves already installed. You could always install a 2nd one I suppose, but it really isn't necessary.

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  Před rokem +1

      It's on a wifi timer

    • @charlesvrogers
      @charlesvrogers Před rokem

      @@gunnerneikoify you might look in the manual for the "Aquarium Co-OP CO2 Regulator Instructions", Item1, Line 6. "Check valve (optional). Also read line item 9, about the check valve.

    • @charlesvrogers
      @charlesvrogers Před rokem

      You do not need a Check Valve on a air pump. But Smart people use it just the same.

    • @gunnerneikoify
      @gunnerneikoify Před rokem

      @@charlesvrogers I know the manual very well. And as it says, an "additional" check valve is optional. Is it needed?, no, it's not necessary but some people like to be super super cautious so add a 2nd check valve to add redundancy. Do you run 2 check valves in you airlines, I highly doubt it, but you should if you're that cautious that you run 2 for your co2 lines. A flooded floor is much more expensive than a regulator that got a little water in it.
