Modified Mustang BOSS 302 - One Take

  • There's not much to say here other than Mike Heintz's modified BOSS 302 Mustang is possibly the best Pre-2015 Mustang road car I've ever driven. Making 475 wheel horsepower without the use of forced induction, and getting that power to the ground with a full Maximum Motorsports suspension build, this thing is an absolute riot.

Matt asked how the MGW shifter fixed the transmission. As the former owner of 2 S197 5.0's with MGW shifters, I can attest to the fact that the main issue was always the stock linkage. The MGW shifter replaces the entire linkage. You would not believe how good it feels.

Bad boss 302 and I am glad he went all N/A with his set up. This car is at least 100 lbs. lighter than the GT350, makes more power and revs just as high. It's simply amazing. I own a 2011 Mustang GT which I want to eventually add the cobra jet manifold set up and do a bit more suspension work. The coyote engine is amazing, I can only imagine what the Boss 302 feels like. Congrats, awesome car

+Moe Lester It was for /Drive, not a one take, but he did drive two on camera. He compared a stroked LS2 swapped FD to a single turbo FD. It was a good video.

I know it serves an actual purpose, but, YIKES! That wing is, uhh, brash, shall we say. The Boss 302 is my favorite Mustang I've driven so far.

      G. Warren agreed 100%.It's just those "in between" days. Now, if I had a track within a 150 miles of my house, I wouldn't give two shits.

I'm going through phases of getting an 18 pp or a boss, I've owned a 14 and I love the body, these since they around the same price. I like the interior of the new 18's but this reminds me of why I want the boss, sweet set up man, even from the video the sound is insane I can only imagine what it sounds like in person.

Matt, you're one of my top 3 car reviewers..but holy shit does it drive me nuts when a guest is talking about modifications and you cut them off, and then they never get back to what they were saying lol

+Sam Buffington That's why we include the wheelwell profile in the link. If you want to see the specific modification list, you can go check that out later. When there is a guest in the car, (generally the car's owner), it's my job to have a conversation with them, but also to talk about what's happening with the car in real time. The car trumps the guest every single time, in case you haven't noticed. Usually we'll go back to whatever we were talking about, but sometimes not. In any sense, that's why we include the wheelwell profile in the link; so you don't have to pay that close attention and can go look at specifics later.

TheSmokingTire I know, and I get it. But he was talking about how he tried aftermarket sway bars and went back to stock, and then he got cut off before he could say why..I think that happened with Wells and a few other people. I guess I phrased my initial comment wrong, I shoulda said when a guest is talking about why he picked certain modifications.
