Excellent video! I just bought the Blue OX hitch and am relying on CZcams videos because the manual is very vague.

I just talked to Blue Ox as we have lost retaining pins while traveling. The retaining pins should go on the outside not the inside. We were taught the opposite by the place that installed ours. I wanted you to be aware as well. Safe travels!

New subscriber here! Please try to position the area you are videoing directly in sunlight or otherwise well illuminated area. I am really interested in this hookup business but I couldn’t see it. I’d like to know about where the pins go and how you tell which side is up but I couldn’t see well enough to learn or replicate. I’d say slowing down and more appropriate lighting in this case would go a long way in improving the viewership of this video.

It's interesting how there are different ways of doing this setup. Initially, I came here hoping there might be some info on the actual wiring harness, as I only have one running light coming on at the bottom(passenger side) yet if I turn the running lights on inside the car there are 4 bulbs for running lights (top & bottom- both sides), thus I'm not sure why I'm only getting a single bottom running light coming on. Our 2016 CRV is set up with the Air Force One brake setup, so there is just a 'two' and 'Run' switch on the left, and she's ready to roll. We go through all gears for about 2 minutes (my wife does) while I'm setting up our Roadmaster tow bar setup, which is similar to your setup. We also have a mess rock guard, so no pebbles can hit the car, although our Tiffin Phaeton has a large guard that nearly touches the ground anyway. Thanks for the video, safety trails and enjoy the scenery to your next destination!!

What is the plate on the Honda it’s attached to? Is this a separate purchase from the Blue Ox?

Great video, thank you! We are towing a very similar set up but car battery keeps dying! Wondering do you tow at night and if you do, are you having your running or any lights on?

Hi there! Our car battery was dying if we towed more than about 3 hours. To fix this I ran an extension cord from the inverter to the rv hitch. Then plugged in a trickle charger and kept it under the hood of the car. Works great. I don’t have to run the lights on the car because I wired in two running lights with the blue ox kit.

Had you always had the CR-V or did you purchase it for towing?

That big break safety box is an option right, not necessary.?

I have a 2003 crv and those must be hauled and not towed.

Another approach is rather than use a 7 to 4 pin adaptor use a 7 to a 5 or 6 pin adaptor using the hot 12 volt service from your motor home's alternator to charge your car's battery.

never ever stand between the car and RV when either is in gear or moving. Stand out of the "crush zone" and direct from there. The Blue Ox system is pretty forgiving if you're within a few inches of center. Being perfect is not necessary...
