HI everyone we are going to cover what is an outdoor wood boiler, in this case, my Central Boiler CL 6048 classic wood boiler! Lets go over the basics of how this machine works to heat my home!
I don't have a wood boiler, but the only improvement that I would make is a mechanical heat/steam driven pump to go electric free. if you were on a spring driven well, you'd be home free. Or go solar and enough battery to keep that pump running if the grid goes down.
The new models have an application for solar imput which is cool but it wouldnt be hard to have a designated circuit for this to run off a solar/battery bank.
@@ericaken3338 I was joking but its the same idea. You use oil to make a flame which heats a water jacket which heats water which is then pumped to areas demanding the heat. The wood boiler just provides a replacement for the oil. The COOL part is the wood boiler runs the domestic hot water through the oil furnance and onto the respected zones that need heat. I love it!
not woodboiler....a old house i used to have, we ran our piping from our wood stove to propane water tank, mind ya the feed obviously, we looped some piping on inside our wood stove, we saved propane running the woodstove
I saw a woodstove for sale on FB that had heat rated plumbing ran through it I guess it was for a similiar idea! Utilize the woodstove for heat while also transfering it around via piping!
I guess you could run the PEX through anything really. You deff want some type of heat exchanger system which is "new" code. Some old installs ran directly through the home furnace but thats not new code depending on the state.
I've been asked many times how my wood boiler works. I will send you some pictures tomorrow Friday. Thanks Jay.
Its a science wood oven I tell people jokingly LOL! Thanks brother ill be sure to include!

If you don't have a furnace, could you use radiators?

@@HomesteadJay thanks for the info.
@@nealmcbaggins127 ill cover this in an upcoming video "how to plum an outdoor boiler"
@@HomesteadJay that would be outstanding!
I'm surprised that the system doesn't use antifreeze to make it freeze safe
They can. I addressed this is a prior video if you search on my page.

Do you shut off your oil burner when using your out door wood furnace?
No because the oil is the backup Incase the boiler burns out. The oil will never run unless the wood boiler burns out and drops to 130 degrees
