    Team demo! I’m so happy I switched to a straight demo system! I got tired of not listening to my favorite music daily. The 30 seconds of satisfaction hitting a high number is not worth the pain of not listening to your favorite music on a everyday basis.. without sounding like crap. Keep up the videos Parker

    Great vid Parker! I think you nailed it, there really is no difference between inverted or regular. You could have a couple tenths difference either way with temp or battery charge state. But thanks for giving me a demo in your truck! I had a blast and loved the demo! That one note really hits you in the chest hard! Also I enjoyed giving you a demo in Structural Damage! @@ParkerTheBasshead brother, I love your setup in every way, wish I lived closer because I would help you get louder. You sound deaden the doors and especially the rear hatch? And the way it performs you'll get better cooling with them inverted of course but if you can adjust the aero ports to tune lower you can get more out of it. Get it to peak right at 39 or 38hz and I think it will get alot louder. Those subs are built for lows if I remember correctly. Maybe even peak at 34hz, my high peak is around 40hz and I absolutely slam at 26hz hard enough to be heard in the building I work at 80 feet away from the maintenance guy inside. He couldn't believe it was 1 12. Just a heavy hitter 12 with one audio legion 1600 on each voice coil at 2 ohms. Does great for a single 12, tuned at 30hz around 2.7 cubes. Sub is of course inverted for cooling since unfortunately it has just a copper coil without the high temp coating. But I love it for the price point. I love it as much as my soundqubed hdc3.1 honestly. Very nice sub

    Basically you proved the theory: if you invert the drivers, the enclosure's net volume increases, and with the same port area and port length gives lower tuning = it peaks lower in car. In my opinion why it gives less SPL is probably because when you invert the subs, on the same power will have more excursion because of this new bigger net volume, so maybe the drivers overpassed the X-max more a bit more like before (but not bottomed out), and the SPL loss is caused by less magnet force because of the slightly bigger overexcursion, but also maybe the SPL loss happened becouse this new lower tuning caused by the new bigger net volume is more off from your car interior's resonant frequency, so... In my opinion try out invert just 3 of your drivers, maybe it will peak lower + have somewhat more SPL...

    • @alvertozavala3406
      @alvertozavala3406 Před 2 lety +2

      Realmente si en parte si la caja es mas grande la eficiencia aumenta, el subwoofer se mueve con mas facilidad pero si se sale del Xmax existen limites mecánicos que no permiten que se aproveche la potencia que reciben.
      Se puede ver en el video que los 2 amplificadores Taramps 8k estan en cliping pero no es por que el amplificador llegue a su limite operacional sino que el subwoofer llega a los limites mecánicos (subwoofer clipped-off) y se da el "Xmech" el amplificador intenta mover el subwoofer con toda su potencia pero no puede por el limite mecánico del subwoofer y pueda ser que por eso se dañan los fusibles.

      Don't know why it won't let me tag you P-Bass but you said basically what I would have said. Most people just tune with a 40hz tone not realizing that if they are tuned at 32hz they more than likely are going to clip when playing 25hz because the amp is going to produce more power below tuning than above. Showed the video from my friends skar skv2 3500 doing 66 volts clean at 24hz when tuned at 28hz and when playing a 40hz tone it dropped to a little over 33 volts meaning if you tune with a 40hz tone you'll start to clip when playing below box tuning. My heavy hitter 12 is inverted mainly for cooling but would probably be louder in the box because the box is a little too big at 2.75 cubes. Might add a little bit of wood around the inside of the baffle when I put the wood tnuts in to help take up a little more space. Adde a thin piece of wood to the inside side wall to take up some space and it definitely helped. But inverting mainly helps if the box is a prefab or too small or you're running alot of power with low rise and need to keep the motor cool. She gets warm but never hot. Love the black brick heavy hitter 12

      @@michaelmosher7902 good plans...btw, when measuring, especially in sedans like mine if you open the rear door (on the left side if the meter is on the right side of the front glass), then this can being the sub's peak near to the tuning frequency...for example: I have a single 6.5 in a relatively simple approx 0.8 cuft net volume box tuned to 22 Hz, when I close everything, it peaks at 52 Hz - my best score is 127.1, with opened front door 128.1 at 51 Hz, with opened back door 127.3 at 23 Hz...maybe I will upload a vid of it this week...also other subs what I tried in my car, they were loud exactly at lower 50ish frequencies, so maybe 52 Hz is the resonant frequency of my car's interior, and I simulated that if I extend the box to a parallel 6th order - high tuned chamber will have the same exact outer dimensions and made of the same material like the box now, it needs to be tuned to 57 Hz to gain the most around 50-53 Hz, exactly +10 or +12 dB.

    • @michaelmosher7902

      Luis Gutierrez main reason to invert would be the box being too small, tuned to high; which doesn't help much; or in my case you're slamming lows on over rms power and getting the sub warm. I invert it because ive took my box out in the summer and took it inside to pull my sub and the motor was hot inside the box with it not being inverted. Box has around 4 coats of fiberglass resin inside and out. Sealed very well. Have a half ohm of rise at 23hz. Clamped my audio legion 1600s wired at 1 ohm each amp and got over 1500 watts per amp. Very impressive for a 1600 watt amp. Right now I'm wired to 2 ohms per amp one heavy hitter 12 getting around 850 watts per coil when rated 1250rms. She takes the 23hz all day long though and the whole box jumps. Gotta get some bigger brackets to hold it down better.

    Inverted & non-inverted only matter on your boxes air space. The sub basket & motor size takes up a certain amount of space in your box. And when you're running multiple subs, that extra air displacement the baskets & motors take up can and will make a difference in the total air displacement the subs need for optimal performance. Always calculate your boxs air volume with the subs basket & motor displacement subtraction value added.

I’m surprised you’re not louder. I like that you did a musical system instead of a strictly spl. Nothing better than the look on people faces when they hear a loud system that actually plays low frequencies. And your theory of adding air space is exactly why you lost a little and peaked lower. What's crazy to me is in the early 2000's I was running 8-JL AUDIO 12w0s in a blow through into my standard cab. All of them were 8ohm subs wired to 1ohm on a SINGLE Crossfire CFA1000D. I hit a 151.9db in a sanctioned local DB drag race and smoked EVERYONE in my power class (they went off 4ohm ratings which put me in the 0-300w class, since the amp is rated at 250watts @ 4 ohms). Anyway, you're damn near 16 times the power and way more surface area of woofers and my single amp/entry level subs was only ~2.5 db from what you're doing. LMFAO.

Sub needs 2.7cu.ft into a box that's 2.2cu.ft, install the mount and do a range of tests- then invert and do all the same tests. THAT'D BE AN AWESOME VIDEO

    I think the reason it was not as loud as regularly mounted is because the cone area is reduced just a little because the spot where the dust cap would usually be there is a coil formar in the way and its not firing or directing so to speak the pressure into the cabin....probably wrong but just an opinion

  • @sethh8892
    @sethh8892 Před 2 lety +1

    This is like asking "which is louder 4th order or 6th order" neither one is definitively louder than the other. It depends on how you build it and how it's designed to play. If you build a box it's meant to be mounted regular, and then you build a box it's meant to be mounted inverted, they are going to play the same. But if you build a box it's meant to be mounted regular and then invert the subs, it's going to make it sound different. I'm surprised this is even a question...

    hey where did you get that app at

  • @southernsoundscaraudio

    awesome video, you are losing your peak by lowering your tuning, the lower the tuning the flatter your response will be, vs the higher tuning will have more of a "hump". Insert the displacement of the subs back into the enclosure and keep them inverted, the spl will most likely be identical.

    I got 2 12in vxf in Skar box and i feel i could get more out of them if inverted. My suv is a bit smaller than a honda pilot , so im hoping that would help also

    if you invert your subs , should you reverse the polarity , or set it to 180 degrees out of phase to get more bass or spl ?

    Just curious why do you have your meter on the floorboard? I don't know anything about this

  • @matt6951
    @matt6951 Před 2 lety

    I have a zvx in a smaller than recommended box( in a 2.6 box, calls for 3) I inverted the sub to compensate for the box volume.. it sounds worse.. not as loud especially at lower volumes, and more mechanical noise. I’m thinking about just stacking a few 3/4” mdf spacers under the sub, and running it like that. Each one is .05 cubes.. so I wonder if that even matters? Probably not worth it.

    I like how you test the differences between inverting the subs verses the other way.
    Personally i think if they are in a sealed enclosure inverting the woofer would be better
    Opposed to the ported
    Enclose

    Jam that meter up in the kick more, open your door all the way and hold that hit a good 2+ seconds! The meter takes time to register the sound so let that shit ride on!!

    Do you have 2 alts? Just curious cause i bought a mechman 240 and i still get voltage drop at 1500~ watts. It gets back up on long notes/frequencies so Im assuming its normal for it to fluctuate while playing music (much less than stock).
