Last year was the year to trade him
Exactly
đ
I don't get the "DJ is our savior" narrative. DJ hasn't been DJ for a couple of years now.
I agree. DJ needs to prove himself.
Yankees should be playing on national TV đș today ! C'mon MLB đ
They didnât last season on July 4th either
They played Friday instead of Monday Friday is a big draw night also! Money is key.
Cabrera started off good because he was playing every day. It is tough to maintain good offensive stats when playing sporadically
Peraza is not the solution, last year he played 50 games and couldn't hit .200, I think DJ Lemahiue or Oswaldo Cabrebra could replace Torres without a problem and provide better offensive performance.
i dont know what the solution is but its not peraza
Simply put.. Gleyber day has become Memorial day..đ
I donât recall the Yankees playing on Memorial Day for the last two years. SMH
There's a lot of similarities between Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres.
A lax attitude sometimes
Itâs hard to watch
YeahâŠ..they are both defensive liabilities.
Torres isn't worth a lot. Whatever they get for him at this point will be a fair trade. Bring up Peraza and place him at 2B. Peraza is an elite defender.
Peraza is a bust, and everyone knows it. Gleyber Torres isn't perfect, but seems like Rogers Hornby compared to Peraza.
@@reneep9972 Only people like you that are not willing to give a guy a chance to play full time for an entire season feel that way. You can't expect a guy to come up and adjust to MLB pitching in a few week hitting .300. Peraza will be a beast like Volpe once they give him a seaon to get up to speed.
@@chrisheffernan6600 I've seen enough of him. Hell, he's not even that good in the minors. We need to keep Gleyber Torres.
Is it just me or is it that every time Gleyber Torres makes an error, it leads to big innings?
No, Itâs not your imagination. He makes boneheaded plays in the field(like throwing the ball into the first base dugout instead of to the first basemen). Or he gets caught napping off base and gets picked off or he makes the third out trying to get the extra base. This guyâs boneheaded play has literally cost of 4 games this year. You canât ask pitchers to get extra outs. The first game of the Seattle series in which Clay Holmes tried to close them out, Gleyber cost him the second out by throwing the ball into the dugout (meant for Rizzo) on a ground ball hit directly to him. Had Torres fielded his position correctly it wouldâve been a tie ballgame at worst and given us a chance to win in extra innings.
"Gleyber Torres," is a need. I found "Gleyber Torres," doing much better now than his last year's game.
"A Leadership in Many Aspects!"
It takes time to become great. Just like a Stock, you buy it, don't expect thousands back tomorrow, so you have to "HOLD ON TO IT," for many years to get your profits?
@@gaylefriedman3773 Gleyber has been called up since 2018. Heâs had 6 years to improve. He is still making the same mistakes he made his rookie year. Letâs look at Anthony VolpeâŠ..how much has he improved his game in one year? He is not making the same mistakes as last year and improved exponentially by working on his weaknesses all off season. It shouldnât take Gleyber Torres this much time to mature. He still makes the same boneheaded plays with the next contract to play for and youâre thinking they Yankees should give him even more money and a new contract? What are you watching??
You noticed that too? I don't think one is possible without the other.
@@gaylefriedman3773 just like stocks when you wait for 6 years and find out this stock will never run up like you were hoping, its time to cut your losses and put your money somewhere else.
The Oswaldo caller was dead on...I do concur...
You can't get your timing down if you don't play consistently, everyday no matter what.
Gleyber stinks and plays everyday!!!!!!
gleyber isnt gonna be traded...if gleyber gets his numbers up why would we toss him for "whatever we can get" when we possibly can take the American league..?
And you know his numbers will go up with another team no question. Torres canât be trusted on the defensive end. I have seen him affect the game at least three times where he did some boneheaded defensive play to cost them. So yeah he can hit like Ted Williams for all I care with another team and yeah we could probably face him and that team. But on THIS TEAM he doesnât do it anymore. Way too dangerous for the Yankees if in a close game and him at second.
As soon as you think Gleyber is getting over the hump he regresses. His defense is suffering because of his bat and it does not help that he âlooks likeâ he is lazy the way he goes about his business.
YES! You have to trade him and not lose him for nothing. And as so many forget, DJ is gold glove 2B!
"JD LeMehieu,"
"An All Around Athlete!"âŸâđ
đOUT!
Torres and Rizzo are a problem
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Gleyber looks like he's not paying attention out there. He reminds me of that kid on the team who gets distracted by a butterfly flitting around or how pretty the grass looks.
I love Peraza. I've had a good feeling about him from the beginning. I want him to get the Volpe treatment. He should be allowed to play through until he gets comfortable. He has great talent. The Yankees so far have not given him a real chance at this point.
We need to be real careful how we treat Gleyber he's really good friends with Soto just saying
@dwight...yes Gleyber & Juan S. Appear to be buds. They both are professionals and know baseball is big business.
The good friends and crap doesnât work here. Soto i would love to have him here for the next 15 years but if the Yankees donât pay him or match the offers the Mets or
Any other team put out there, as much as he loves playing here he will walk.
So again the good friends here donât count for crap.
If Soto walks, the Yankees already have an extra center fielder in Dominguez making minimum wage that is ready to play every day in center, so Judge can move back to right field
So was Gio with Gleyber and Gio got traded.
Agreed that there should be games on Memorial Day. If I recall they didnât play last year on Memorial Day, Labor Day or July 4th.
Time to give Oswald Peraza a Go at it
Or, if he can stay healthy, Jon Berti
Wonât make the crucial errors he does. Or base running mistakes.
Yes, regrettably Joe has his hand on the pulse of the Torres matter. Unfortunately, although a good man and likeable man, Yanks would be better served in moving Gleyber at or before the trade deadline and reporting their pitching strength ( middle relief ). Hal has told us that he is not going to resign a lot I f these expiring contracts, and Gleyber is most likely one of them.
I just donât get yankee fans lol. Why touch anything on a team that looks special this year ? Why trade gleyber at a low point in the season ? Who are you replacing him with or trading him for ? I just donât get it heâs had a touch stretch but thereâs a ton of players who have been cheeks this year. Oswald peraza ?! Cmon man
Torres can hit like Ted Williams the next the few weeks and I wouldnât give a damn if his defense will cost us the game. And btw he wonât hit like him. So yeh put in Peraza who is a proven defensive player AT LEAST. And work with that. At least three games Torres has cost us a game. And in a playoff trusting him on defense is a disaster waiting to happen. Trading him you wonât get anything of value. But he needs to be moved. Been saying it for two years. Whether you get bullpen help or an infielder. Or send him down to some instructional league like the Astros did with abreu a seasoned veteran So I think that answers all your questions buddy. Nothing complicated dude.
A year late. Gleyber's decline started with his being switched to shortstop. He has regressed each year since. He needs a change of scenery. Unfortunately, the Yankees didn't trade him when his value was high. Shame. Not a high I.Q. ballplayer, and his focus is a constant issue.
Gleyber is the new Hicks
Not at all! Watch previous games of "Aaron Hicks!" When he was in good condition, "Aaron Hicks," played "Massive!"
Second caller sounded like Terry Boela BROTHER
agree. would love to see Peraza play 2nd and move Torres. Now all they need is a better choice for DH and a new 1st baseman. Add to that a couple of reliable bullpen arms and we might have something here.
I don't know who in the right mind can defend Torres on the Yankees anymore. He can't hit, can't field and he's for sure not a World Series winning caliber of player.
Who c ares. Between beebe, dj, peraza, cabrerra, we dont need glayber
Celeb Durbin said "Hold my beer" on Peraza...
Caleb is injured right now, and I've heard he doesn't have much pop.
@@NYYRecaps his stats are better than Peraza. BA .299, OPS .871.
â@@mitchbandalan9450 small sample size, you have to also consider player profiles and what the Yankees value at each position. Iâm not against giving him a shot, but I havenât heard much from scouts that think heâs the real deal.
i would put Cabera, or Perza at second. There better fielders, and have more speed.
All for it, trading Torres and allowing Peraza a shot.
But the real future 2nd baseman might be Jorbit Vivas.
I would. I would have before the season started ! Because he wonât be hear next year anyway,itâs all about the money signing Soto you have to cut spending somewhere else there will be a new 2 baseman next year if not sooner and a new outfielder money is the reason.
I don't believe Peraza is the long term answer at 2b. The glove is obvious, but I don't think people realize just how fugazi his bat is. I'm not just saying that because of his struggles at the major league level, I'm talking about the kind of success he had in the minor leagues. Even during his hot streaks he'd be striking out 25% of the time. When he went cold it was more like 35-40%. And both his hot and cold streaks were fueled by extreme BABIPs. He's just not going to be able to get away with that at the major league level. Batting .300 in September doesn't mean anything. Take Spring Training and September numbers and throw them out the window. We know the old adage. I don't know what to do with Gleyber, but it wouldn't be to make room for Peraza. Peraza has always been trade bait to me, but I think maybe he's become another in a long line of overhyped prospects we let linger until his value on the market dissipated. I still expect him to be moved at the deadline, though.
You might think that it's dumb to have Memorial Day off but how about the Orioles and the Red Sox playing at 1 p.m.? It's Memorial Day and it's Baltimore (Chesapeake Bay) and Boston, with the history that Boston plays in our country's beginning---it's like perfectly set up for a fireworks show after the game but the game is going to be done around 4:30. Who puts on a fireworks show in broad daylight?
Not happening. He will have second half to prove if he can turn things around and be worth a contract by a team.
I believe most of the free agents are going to be traded at the deadline or simply allowed to go to free agency. That belief is based on what Hal said. Heâs going to go after Soto, but committed to get under $300M. He continued about bringing up young (er) players. The Martian in the outfield, Peraza at second base (assuming theyâre able to sign Soto). That leaves no room for Torres and Verdugo. The only free agent I see them keeping is maybe Holmes. I think they free up as much salary as they can for Soto. I donât know what they do about first base.
Yeah we just need to let gleyber go or trade him. I always on the chats said almost 2 years ago to trade him. But thatâs the past. I doubt we will get anything good for him. But at this point he is a danger to his own team if itâs a close game god forbid in a playoff. Please just use Peraza. I always wanted Peraza at short but thatâs not going to happen and Iâm fine with that but put him at second and let him grow please.
Glabor chickened out and tried to backhand a ball he coulda got in front of. The kids on my 11u travel do better than that. Trade him for a hamsandwich and move on
Your crazy Cabrera is gonna be a gold glove 3rd baseman great range great arm great glove let him get comfortable there put djl back on second and then we have 4 potential gold glovers in infield with Rizzo.
They have been trying to dump this stiff for the last three years but there aren't any takers. Supposedly they had a deal in place with Miami two years ago for Pablo Lopez but the Marlins came to their senses and backed out of the deal.
Only thing that makes me hesitate trading him is we lose the draft pick weâd get by offering the QO in the offseason. Not sure we get much back for him also.
No one mentioned this and I wonder would the Yankees make a QO to gleyber to be honest
I donât see why they wouldnât. Someone will give him 4-6 years for sure.
When Torres messes up, we lose.
Who would take him?
The pitching has been great and hitting better since Volpe realized his job is to get on base. Gleyber having a rough time this year. How quickly we forget how good heâs been,,,,, how quickly ,,,,
Torres may have benefitted from the juiced ball of 2019, he has never come close to his 2019 numbers.
đthe pour guy needs a rest as does Rizzo
" Pour Guy"? Does he drink too much?
Gleyber is horrendous on the bases and fielding his position . When dj comes back stick him there or dj at third and Peraza at 2nd
Get some bullpen help for him
With DJ soon to be back, Gleybar is expendable. Someone out there will want him.
Unfortunately, Gleyber Torres is the odd man out in the Yankees. The team right now is in the lead in the AL East division, and the All-Star break is getting near. The Yankees at that point have to dial in to make a World Series run, and Gleyber has struggled massively. Judge, Soto, and Stanton are hitting bombs. Volpe is going above and beyond in his second year. Verdugo has been in both offense and defense. LeMaheiu will be back soon in the lineup. Rizzo played last year with concussions, so he has my vote of confidence.
Sadly, Gleyber Torres' time has a yankee has run out, and the team has to re-sign Soto long term.
The only 3b man to trade for is that stud over there in Cleveland. Just imagin that dude hitting clean up and than everyone else down a spot... glayber batting 8???
Gleyber has ADD,like the kids.Don't focus.
Watching the highlights of Torres stance.its all over the place. High leg lift low ,then high just not smooth and steady.my take on why he is not locked in.
Play Cabrera has second and dj at 3 rd
Peraza is not the answer
Peraza is only 23
Itâs funny how you just say âPeraza is not the answer â with no explanation as to why. Than who is. Put Peraza for now to at LEAST sure up the defense. Cant be any worse on the offensive side. And if the offense was that bad at least he isnât losing it on the defensive side. But thanks for your answer with no alternative.
@@marcosc7375 exactlyđŻ you put Peraza or DJ at second and the team is already better. Gleyberâs numbers at the plate wonât be so hard to pass as well. If the Yankees would have played berti and Cabrera rather than Torres, I think the team wouldâve been better. But berti is off now.
You have to wait until DJ can prove a 280 average
I'm not agree about this. Why Torres?
The explanation is in the video. 1) His contract is running out and the Yankees won't re-sign him 2) He's got the most errors by any 2B in MLB 3) He isn't the offensive force he used to be.
I would give peraza a shot and try trading torres.
Gil is going to the bullpen, due to workload limits recovering from TJ surgery
Need to trade him, the Yanks will not pay him big money they need to open up $ for Soto. That 2019, 38 Homer fluke year the ball was juiced and they where many players that year hit way above career highs in Homer's with launch angle. Bret Gardner hit 28, fluke #.
If you can resign him with a cheap contract = keep him and otherwise yes please trade him
It would be nice but they won't get anything back
Trade him to who? For what?? He won't have much value.
International pool money đ€·đ»ââïž
Whatever they get for him will be fine. We got Clayton Berter for Joey Gallo. That was more than fair.
I think heâd do really well with the bat on another team. I think thereâs teams that understand how good gleyber can be and that a change of scenery might work well for him. Iâm sure thereâs teams that are interested but they also understand the market value for him is not as high. I can see Chicago or Seattle being potential fits. Also, donât forget that Clayton beeter was acquired from the dodgers in the gallo trade. I think gleyber is much more valuable than what gallo was then.
Re-fortifying
Cabrera is Ben zobrist
You just had a baby his mine is not in the game
Gleyber for a good, young pircher
I believe people and teams do too much Chess playing when it comes to these Players . Gil is a Starter leave him as one. Nestor is a starter leave him there. Get more bullpen help. Run a 6 man rotation. If you do go 5 man rotation Gil is having a more dominant season. When you do this Starter to Bullpen with these young players it messes with the head. If he struggles in the playoffs, it's a learning curve. Stop overthinking
He should have left town two years ago.
Torres performing poorly because it's a contract year is pure cow manure. Judge was on a contract year, and he went out and won a MVP award
Gleyber is lazy, which is unacceptable for any player. Get rid of him
Spencer Jones is our future CF. Unless we teach him or Dominguez how to play 1B.
The Martian will be in left field
Jones played some first base in college. Time to put him there now while in minors.
If Soto signs with us, we will see one of them two on first base/dh. If Soto goes elsewhere then Spencer and Dominguez play the outfield with Judge. But we wonât see Spencer till next year and maybe Dominguez will be a September call up, maybe. IMO
@@cottonballable Jones is the best athlete and best centerfielder youâre not gonna waste him on 1st base. Judge is getting older your not gonna leave him in centerfield
If what Hal said is true about their payroll, then Iâd pair a trade with Spencer jones and Stanton to LA to get that contract off their payroll and keep Soto. I think Spencer jones is real impressive but I also think that Stantonâs contract holds a ton of weight on the Yankees. I think this is the only way they can get rid of that contract. If theyâre able to move Stanton they can possibly bring back dugie as well for like a 3-4 year deal. Iâm a fan of Stanton and I think heâs underrated, but him not able to play the outfield and being so injury prone makes him a big liability. Other guys on this team need the DH spot as well and itâs hard to put them there when one of your best hitters only able to DH. If they can move him in the offseason that would be great for the Yankees.
If youâre not going to sign him next year, trade him now, because you get NOTHING for him thenâŠâŠ.DUHHHH
torres has been a horrible player for last 4 years......bad fielder, base runner, dumb ball player, bad situational player ......please bench him
Trade Gleyber but no to Peraza. He is older than Volpe and hasnât proven himself yet. He is 23, that is starting to be too old in the minors.
I trade him free up money can't keep everyone
Ridiculous. Performed well last year, just coming around now, and to trade him would stick us with a 36 year old and a 34 year old to cover 2nd.
Youâre forgetting about the 23 year old Oswald Peraza.
We are loaded with middle infield prospects that will at the minimum play good defense
@NYYRecaps He hasn't shown well. Over 200 at-bats and produced a negative WAR and a .216 BA. Never had an OPS higher than .667 in the minors and that was for one month. You damn skippy I'm forgetting about him.
Your numbers are mistaken. His career minor league OPS is .766. Heâs been over .830 twice
@@NYYRecaps who the fuck was I looking at??
Gleyber s time in my is over
He should've been traded 3 years ago. This guy is no Yankee, he's not clutch in big games.
trade peraza , gleybar and everson for ryan helsey
Gleyber Torres Rodrick Arias Chase Hampton and Everson Pereira to the Oakland Athletics for Mason Miller. Then you call up Oswald Peraza to play second base
Why would the athletics want Gleyber Torres?
You donât make that trade when weâre a pitching factory
Trade Torres And Randle..
What the difference between Gleyber Torres and Gary Sanchez ? Exactly ? ?? Thats the answer? ?? Did you get it ? Question â mark.
Trade Jasson Dominguez in a deal for Elly De La Cruz
Stfu elly isnât better than dominguez
@@Aguptown1 "in a deal for" means those don't have to be the only players. The point is we need a third baseman more than we need an outfielder
Bro you clearly donât know anything about baseball.
Not gonna happen.
Crazy .
Leave gleyber alone đ
Gleyber Torres is a terrible baseball player.
"Gleyber Torres," is a NYY for many years. Like I said, "Gleyber Torres," is getting better in his position.
"A Leadership in Many Aspects!"
About "Gary Sanchez," he was the NYY Catcher for 15 years!!! Now, that's considered a lifetime! Unfortunately, Some Pitcher's pitched WILD PITCHER'S, which caused the opposing team to steal or score bases. Again, this is Not a Catcher's fault, when a Pitcher throws out of the area. So, we removed "Gary Sanchez," which was outstanding to get a runner out on Second Base, and guess what? "Gleyber Torres," was the Second Baseman to get this player out with the throw of "Gary Sanchez!"
"All đHands on Deck!" đ€ŁââŸââŸâđđOUT!
Now, if you don't want to be part of the Team, let it be known, and you will be removed immediately. I personally, don't like Pitcher Cole. We Lost World Series at least 2 times that I can recall.
