    I go to an instrumental Church of Christ and enjoy non instrumental music no matter what we're all praising the Lord.

      Just curious: why would you be willing to chance it? Are you familiar with the aims and claims of the Christian Church in the early 1920's? They thought they had a "champion", Dr. Ira Boswell, and began arrangements for debates in every county in TN. So far as anyone knows, they had only one - and that was in the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville with N. B. Hardeman in 1923. They left with their tails scalded. With that in the background, I ask "Why in the world would you even risk worshiping God in a manner unacceptable to Him?"

    I used to be in the church of Christ and even preached for 25 years in the C of C, and though I seldom worship in this style anymore, always enjoy it. Though I no longer agree with much of their doctrine, still have great friends in that faith system! When non-instrumental music is done right, it's always beautiful.

      Why did you fall away from the only church That you read about in the new Testament, The church is named after the one who died for it , shed his blood for it ,Acts chapter 2,,

    • @martin9410
      @martin9410 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@thomascamara8398 I never fell away from "the only church." I'm still a part of the Lord's body. Still a part of His body that is spoken of in the New Testament. The church has numerous names in the New Testament, i.e., the church of Christ, Church of God, the Household of faith, the Way, Church of the Firstborn, etc. All of these and more descriptive titles are used in the New Testament to describe the Lord's church. These were never meant to be the official names on a church letterhead. Regarding Acts 2, there are many other passages that also speak to his shedding of blood. We praise God daily that He shed his blood for us. God bless you brother.

      @thomascamara8398 Před 7 měsíci

      @martin9410 Jesus said I will build my church singular, All these descriptive terms He's the only one of the God who died. So the church bears his name. It's very fundamental.
      That's why we don't call it. Method is Catholic presbyterian or any other man-made names. Those descriptive terms refer to the church, household of faith the way , The ecclesia the church of christ, Again it bears his name because he's the only one that died for it, His blood purchased our redemption when he comes back. He's coming back for his people the church of christ

      @@thomascamara8398 So you're saying that you disagree with the Scriptures on the other names that were used? And by the way, the "church of the Firstborn," is about Christ. Why are you evading my comments on this issue. Where does it say Catholic or Presbyterian in the New Testament. These are not biblical, nor examples I gave you. You're trying to put words in my mouth which is not very genuine on your part. And you're saying that "church of God," which is used 7 times in the New Testament to describe the Lord's church as opposed to Romans 16:16, is not a name the Holy Spirit should have used? Are you questioning the Holy Spirit? Are you saying that Jesus is not God? And when Jesus comes back, He's coming back for all His people regardless of whatever biblical name is on the letterhead, as long as they are saved biblically. You are reminding me why I left your faith system. Thanks for reminding me of the legalism that still exists there. When you can't even accept Scripture on the various names of God's people, it just illustrates biblical illiteracy and failure to interpret God's Word rationally and honestly, without bias or religious prejudice.

      @@martin9410Yep, the schism between white and black churches is well known, making the churches of Christ one of the most racially segregated sects of Christianity. An illuminating incident is how the white churches in Nashville took over a plan by the black churches to build a school for black children. They used their money and influence to take it over, then insisted that black children couldn't enter the front entrance of a school which was purpose built for those very children.
      When I was a kid in the 1980s, an elder in my home congregation (Joe Peden, by name) used to don blackface along with the son of another elder, and perform the full "Mr Bones / Mr Jones" vaudeville schtick to entertain our all-white elderly people. I doubt anything has changed in 35 years, at least not in the right direction. My guess is that the white church of Christers of today aren't over the American Civil War, and won't be satisfied until black people are their chattel property again.
