    • @Tyrannosaurus_STFU_III
      @Tyrannosaurus_STFU_III Před měsícem

      Shouldn't you have loved him as a brother in Christ from the get go?
      So a podcast made you love him, not Christ or religion. I know Christianity and nowhere does it say "love thy brother, conditionally, until they talk to Mike Rowe"

    • @danrebeiz4598
      @danrebeiz4598 Před měsícem +1

      @@Tyrannosaurus_STFU_III Hey genius, how do I love someone as a brother in Christ if I don't know they are or I don't know anything about them?
      I don't go around assuming every human being is a brother or sister "in Christ", meaning that they are a Jesus-loving Bible reading Christian. Do you?
      Not sure how you couldn't piece that together by what I wrote.
      And by the way, to help you out, unconditional love extends to all "without condition", but if you know the Bible it means love as an action... feed, serve, help, give, etc... what I was referring to with Neal was purely love as an emotion, not action.
      You're welcome

    • @Tyrannosaurus_STFU_III
      @Tyrannosaurus_STFU_III Před měsícem

      @danrebeiz4598 you just proved my point genius...
      Think about what you said. Last time I checked, the Bible tells us to love all as brothers and sisters. You're supposed to love all. Christians and non Christians as well. So either you have no idea what you're talking about or just one of the other 99% of Christians that only act according to the values of the Bible when people are watching or on Sundays.
      What you said was ridiculous and you only said it to "look" like a good Christian.
      We can keep on, but if your critical thinking finally kicks in, you'll realize you don't have a leg to stand on. If you don't want to be called out as hypocritical, don't be a hypocrite.
      You literally wrote you only love him because he's a Christian. That was not Jesus' teaching.
      Want to debate that too. Sorry I'm the only person willing to call you out. Maybe if someone had done it sooner, I wouldn't have to waste my time doing it.

    • @danrebeiz4598
      @danrebeiz4598 Před měsícem +1

      @@Tyrannosaurus_STFU_III
      "You literally wrote you only love him because he's a Christian."
      That's funny, I remember it as "I just went from liking Neal as an actor to loving him as a brother in Christ." And that's a copy/paste
      And if you want to go back and forth about scripture, look up the four different definitions of love in the original Greek, then go to those passages of scripture.
      You'll find that Greek has four different words for love.
      You falsely accuse me of insinuating that I ONLY love Neal because he's a Christian.
      First of all... even if that was true, why would that trigger you into coming after me?
      Secondly, would you say Jesus didn't love those the Pharisees when He called them whitewashed tombs? Are you saying Jesus is a hypocrite?
      I'll help you once again... no, He wasn't. He knew that you can love people regardless of whether you like them, or not, know them or not.
      Philia: This word describes the type of love found in strong friendships.
      Eros: This word describes the type of love found in romantic relationships (think “erotic”).
      Storge: This word describes the type of love found in family relationships.
      Agape: Describes selfless, unconditional love. Some describe it as God-like or Christ-like love.
      In your baseless and unwarranted attack on me as a true believer in Christ for doing no more than expressing joy in discovering that an actor I already liked is a brother-in-Christ, you assume that I was announcing that I don't have love for anyone outside of my spiritual family of like-minded believers.
      You don't know anything about me beyond a compliment. That makes you incredibly cynical and antagonistic.
      Let me finish with this:
      Using your logic. Did Jesus tell us to hate our mothers and fathers for His sake?
      "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple."
      That's Luke 14:26
      Hmm... that's confusing.
      On the flipside, what did John, the Disciple mean when he called himself "The one that Jesus Loved?"
      "So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him."
      That's John 20:2
      So, using your argument, Jesus must not have loved anyone else....
      My point is this... before you go attacking people consider the fact that you may be projecting whatever internal disappointments you see in yourself.
      I know what I meant by my comment.
      You came after me like I was some kind of heretic spreading false doctrine.
      You triggered me by asserting that I'm a fraud. Yea, that ticked me off because it's absurd and baseless.
      But now I'm actually feeling bad for you because you've clearly got something tormenting you... otherwise you wouldn't have attacked me.
      Just look at your user name. It has STFU in it. My user name is... my actual name.
      I don't attack folks from behind anonymity.
      You do.
      So... now ask yourself... was your attack (a) warranted, (b) accurate, (C) informed?
      I would argue no on all three accounts.
      I will be praying for you as soon as I hit send on this message.
      And I as you to forgive me for calling you a "genius" as a sarcastic slight.
      That was not Christ-like of me

    Neal is one of my favorite actors. The first thing I remember watching him in was Band of Brothers. I watched it with the guys from my unit in 2003 on a laptop sitting in the back of a M577 track while in Iraq. Every night, we would gather up around it and watch one single episode, plus the commentaries from the real life soldiers. We made it last as long as we could. Some of the guys I watched that with are no longer with us. Just a memory from 21 years ago seared in my mind. Since then, I have seen Neal in multiple shows and movies and I respect how he honors God and how he honors his wife and family. One of the few people in Hollywood that you can trust

    Wow. Just wow. That is what comes to my mind after watching and listening to this interview. I knew and respected the "guy" that Mike was interviewing, only for his ability to perfectly portray the characters or roles that he was cast into on TV or in Movies but I actually didn’t know his name. After watching and listening to this storied Christian testimony I have even more respect for you Neal McDonough and also for Mike Rowe for having him on and giving him this platform from which to preach not only his testimony but the work that it took to get to where he is today. Thank you both!

    My first exposure to Neal was in "Forever Strong". I watched with my four elementary and middle school boys. After the movie they said "we want to play THAT game!" (rugby).
    We went the next week and found a local team. They all four played, and 3 of the 4 went on to captain their D2 college program. Those three are also now coaching middle school and high school programs of their own.
    Quite a legacy from a little known movie!

    Mike - I did not know you were on the internet like this, so my first time viewing & learning (perceiving) more about you.... and on top of that.... you having what I consider a rather "in-depth" conversation with Neal McDonough !!
    As a 78 y/o small town Indian boy from Alaska... watching & listening to you guys .... "filled my cup" for the entire time (if I may describe it that way).
    Even as a "bad guy", Neal has always been a "memorable character" to me after seeing him on the big, or not so big screen... over the years.
    I'm so glad I "happened upon" your site.
    The discussion you guys had showed me (old guy) a level of insight, on the various human characteristics that abound, but sometimes seemingly people are unaware of, i.e.- seems (to me) like so many go through go through life unconsciously (unaware/uncaring).
    My "time spent with you guys", was time well spent ... and that's an understatement!!
