  • ABC7's Casey Pratt joined "The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross" Monday morning to share his thoughts on the Oakland Athletics decision to play in Sacramento for the next three seasons.
    Last week, the A’s and Sacramento Kings officially announced that the Athletics will call Sutter Health Park, the home of the Sacramento River Cats, home from 2025-28 with an option for a fourth year.

    This has been a great radio show. Better than most Bay Area radio coverage. The best thing about this awful situation for Oakland is that Sacramento gets to show its quality. Sacramento should be warned that MLB will use and abuse them with no remorse.

      So agree. As much as I love watching the A's in Sacramento for three seasons, Rob Manfred, Dave Kavel, and John Fisher don't care about Sacramento and any future plans for a team in Sacramento. All of them we will use for memorabilia sales, supporting the team, and just leave.

      Casey is biased with it, but I guess he really thinks Oak. is going to be an option with expansion. Oak. thought so too, they really thought they could put up these demands with that position too. Oak's only shot at MLB was to make HT work. Keep A's. Or mend fence, take A's longer without demands (G'd expansion, keeping name) It's over, it's a minor league soccer city now.

      There was no chance the A’s go to Utah… that was just an attempt to provide false leverage. The TV contract fallout from moving to Sacramento is going to be significant, but a Utah move would have been devastating.

    I supported Sacramento when they were in danger of losing the Kings. Lots of negative comments back then about the poor quality of market that was Sacramento. Undeserved, in my opinion. But now, to see Sacramento taking part in Oakland losing its team, with the usual implications that its because the former market is terrible, well, kinda looks hypocritical.

    • @lilbrother45
      @lilbrother45 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Not hypocritical at all.
      The NBA never approved relocation for the kings. Seattle was legit trying to steal the kings while they were still sacramentos team. MLB approved relocation. ITS A DONE DEAL. No matter what happened with sac or SLC Vegas, this team was never going back to Oakland. Nothing can save them. The 2 situations are night and day.

They should have taken just the 17 M (14 M more for two years compared to before), A's half of Coli, keep jobs, and A's would help with field. There are not G's for expansion. It's silly to even ask, or to ask A's for it who can't even give it. You take the opp and economic help. Oak's held onto resentment and bitterness, missed a good opp to get in expansion game. Sac swooped in. Viv said it before this, it's about an opportunity to show out, that's it. You try for it, in the least you get MLB for three years and economic help.

    I think the team is going to stay in Sacramento, and Vegas will get the expansion team it desires. Vivek and Arctos Sports aren’t going to lay out money, unless there was some sort of guarantee.
    It wasn’t Sacramento or Vivek that undercut the A’s in Oakland. The A’s were undercut by the politicians in Oakland and Alameda County for years. They were undercut by their rivals, the Giants, who wanted the entire Bay Area as their exclusive market. They were undercut by the declining importance of the East Bay economically, which is literally in a doom loop at its core. And of course they were undercut by their current ownership.
    Blaming Sacramento and Vivek as a major reason the A’s left Oakland, sounds more like sour grapes.
    Again, if Oakland-Alameda County couldn’t keep the Raiders, the Warriors, or even an In and Out Restaurant, there are much bigger problems that need to be solved before they can be relevant again.

    1. Sac will be on the team name. I'm confident on that.

    3. Sac media needs to start focusing on our community, not having guests form the Bay that come on our radio waves and ask how we dare think Sac can possibly be a better location for MLB than the bay.
    We have been Giants and A's fans as part of our region. If the A's had moved to Berkeley, San Jose, or SF, I'm guessing bay area media would have been more fine with it. This is our team too, we'd just like them closer.
