So here's a short video I made to thank a friend of mine from Australia, Eegleweege, who surprised me with a papercraft King Harkinian she assembled (from a design by Vincentmrl) when I met up with her in Nottingham back in late September. I had a solid idea for a video using it quite literally on the train ride home, but it's taken me till now to actually make it. I only started this on Monday this week, in a desperate rush to actually have a video on my channel this year! (Twitter followers will know I have another video project that's ongoing, but that won't be finished and coming to my channel until next year)

I like to imagine that the king hasn't even seen his own face at the end of the video yet and is completely unaware of how it looks. The thing he's actually mad at Link for is ruining the face on the papercraft doll
When I wrote it I did think of it as him being aware of his face (and while editing did consider a shot of him squirming as he's being drawn on, framed from behind), but it did occur to me after the fact that it'd also work as him being unaware. If the video were longer there'd be some comedic mileage in that.

More than 15 years, and the tradition still holds strong. CDi YTP is something special.
A wonderful modern YTP that uses editing techniques to expand and play with the source material without compromising a feeling of authenticity.

The closest we have are drones and even that's a hit or miss
Both sentence mixing and the animation are fantastic! Happy to see YTPs are still being made and keep improving time to time

Also loved The King's distorted screaming. lol
I was rly happy with that scream lol. It's part of the middle of "oah" slowed down and looped, then pitch shifted around. Ended up having to learn how to pitch shift in Audition as Premiere's pitch-shifter keyframes kept creating audio pops.
Never has anyone made animation so accurate to the CD-i games that it feels all too natural, before you. This is why I praise this, as well as the series you made on your Twitter.
Ty! I'd say Jimmy Davis does it well too though, as does AbsoluteLink. I'd argue they're better than me in a lot of ways tbh, but it isn't a competition at the end of the day.

I never thought I’d see someone else use the CDI style this well after Jimmy Davis set a new bar but damn is this amazing. I’m so happy to see such incredible talent keeping the classic CDI-YTPs alive even today!

This is incredibly funny and incredibly well-crafted. The Triforce of Photocopying made me fold up. 😂 I guess if we have 3-D printing it's natural for the King to want 3-D photocopying.
I haven't seen enough people comment about brilliant the writing is here. Love how everyone is characterized and the well-thought out references through the visual+written gags!
Rly appreciate this comment. Writing these is one of my favourite parts tbh. I've a clear idea of how my versions of these characters should act and enjoy trying to put across their personalities.

nah King tripped cuz his mantle or whatever it’s called is too long. We never even see his feet. I encourage you to make another animation about this! I would watch for sure
Ty lol. Tbh I haven't any ideas that I feel would justify revisiting a simple concept like this. I feel like it'd just be a case of diminishing returns. Would much rather make new things (which I'm slowly in the process of doing).

Oh ty! And yeah she's great at doing them; has even designed some herself I think. The designer of this one is Vincentmrl, whose blog I've also linked. They seem to have designed a lot of rly cool stuff too.

I've technically been around longer than Jimmy D, though for a long while my work wasn't very good, and after 2012 I didn't make a CD-i YTP for several years (sadly some of the ones I did before that don't exist now). I appreciate it though!
