Not a hammer but great footage - how it was at every ground back in the day. A game of the people for the people, not the sterile overpriced 'product' it's now become.

Great clip and a reminder of the days when football was the game of the working class - the kinds of people karren brady definitely doesnt want at west ham's new stadium :(

As a 19 year old Irish student working in London for a year - I loved going to the Boleyn Ground even though it was quite a trek from Wimbledon on the District Court Line. Fabulous club, fabulous people and a great team in the 1986 - 1987 season. Never a cross reaction to my accent. Great times - so sad to see how the East End has ended up.

I visited Upton Park shortly before it was demolished in 2017. I went to see West Ham at London Stadium and felt as though something was missing. While West Ham’s new stadium is nice and comfortable, I felt as though it values commercialism over the energetic passion of the working class.
My dad told me how he and my grandfather would attend baseball games at Connie Mack Stadium in Philadelphia in the 1970s. The stadium and neighborhood were very similar to the Boleyn Grounds and Green Street in London. Connie Mack Stadium was demolished in 1976.
It is sad to see sports become overly commercialized and commodified as objects to be sold on an increasingly globalized marketplace.

Not so long ago..... I never went to Upton Park, but went past it very often. They were a couple of years away from an FA Cup win. I was living in Ilford at the time and recall the Claret & Blue EVERYWHERE. To me (not a West Ham fan) that is the epitome of Cup Joy.
And notice in the footage ... No replica tops. Lovely mix of ages Nobody who had literally eaten ALL the pies. Simpler days. Lovely footage.

This is a compliment. As an 'away' supporter I hated going to Upton Park in the late 70s and through the 80s. Proper ground nd. Proper supporters back then. Still, looking at this great footage, you realise that UK (as with football) has changed so much and not for the better.

The Sally Army band used to perform on the pitch, not in the stand, when I went regularly to Upton Park in those days. (Note to younger fans - we never used to call it by its formal name the Boleyn Ground, which seems to be a modern thing). In all my years of supporting the Hammers I was never once searched by police at the turnstiles - was this footage of a match against Millwall by any chance?

Chris Black the First skinheads were in the late 60's/early 70's. The skinhead revival started about a year after this, shortly followed by a football look with longer hair, green flight jacket or Harrington, Lonsdale T-shirts, Slazenger jumpers, jeans and addidas trainers or dm's.
