WAI No Comment Episode 181
Great to have 2 CZcams channels with flyovers. Each has its own special perspective. Really helps to satisfy the space nerd cravings! Thanks!
the best current starbase shots on the net
And even better without hearing that fool of a presenter who thinks he’s funny .. which he isn’t
New chopstick is shorter because the angular momentum is better to quickly movements.
Awesome pic John and collage WAI team .. 📷📸
Thanks dear WAI
Elon explained to Tim Dodd that the shorter arms of the launch tower's chopsticks are needed because when it comes to catching the booster and Starship, the longer chopstick have to move rapidly into position thus creating greater momentum when they are quickly moved into position. This mass in rapid motion makes it more difficult to slow them down and to stop that mass which has to be moved into position to catch those two vessels. Thus there is the potential for the chopsticks to smash into the booster and Starship, causing potential damage to one or both of them during the catch procedure. With the shorter chopsticks that momentum is reduced, thus reducing the potential for damage being done to the booster or Starship during the catch process.
Excellent job on the aerial footage! 👍👍👍
Great videos, and black text on the green backgrounds, perfect! 😃
Only chopsticks arms on little trees. 😅🤣 The animals is on it bring. 🐀🐿️🕷️🪳🪲🐜 😅🤣
I like the "Tank Fram"
Frigging awesome!
WAI you rock!
This Rocks! Great aerials.
Shorter chopstick arms reduce closing-stop oscillating.
Yeah!👍🏼
Thx for the chill and great videos!
awesome!
John you rock!
Really nice video👍
Thes are the clearest I ever seen , great job (clear sky helps).
Hi John great to see the aerial shots it puts everything into perspective with the new tower. ❤
Tower "B" (or 2) will be used only for launch operations so, it won't need longer chopsticks. Tower 1 (or A) will be used for catching boosters/ ships, because it doesn't have the latest improvements, and so, it wouldn't be a catastrophe to loose it
Shorter chopsticks, shorter bending moment.
If you look at the inner corner of the smaller section of the office building, right at 5:20, it looks like there's going to be an atrium which extends right up to the roof of that section (could grow taller it looks like). I think they might be planning to put a vehicle in that atrium once the building is at full height. There's a man-lift right in the spot where I think it would go, but it looks like theres a triangular cutout in the ceiling that would allow for lifting and lowering a ship into the building
I don't think they would do S20, or any ship with flaps, as the triangular section doesn't seem to allow for the aft flaps to be center line of the vehicle, BUT I think they could put an HLS variant or S26 type vehicle in that space. There's also a cutout in the 2nd floor that appears to be roughly shaped to fit a 9m vehicle in there (like a VAB), but it would be awesome have access inside a HLS mockup, for tours, media, or the public to experience, rather than having them go on flight-hardware that is probably, *hopefully* on the lunar surface
Very good WAI keep improving
I've only just discovered you. Are you with Felix or separate? Checking from 2021 when the LR11000 was assembled
@@WilboBaggins-dm7ub We're part of the WAI Media group, yes. It's mostly a process through photographer and editor. take pictures, upload pictures to editor, edit video and then upload. Without the main WAI team, especially felix and stefanie, this absolutely wouldn't be possible though. So really depends on what you call seperate ^^

Mr Musk, the man who builds the factory AFTER he has a viable vehicle to mass produce! YEAH, my HERO!
Keep these coming!! - Dave Huntsman
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Second Tower in Texas should be operational by end of October 2024.
Chopstics are shorter because "the best part is no part..!"
And, they won't sway on
close/catch as much.

It’s look like there are buildings a flame deflector next to the new tower
I prefer these vids to the clickbait Felix vids
They need to start preparing for a hurricane

You should buy and hold tech stock Crypto investment
There are many interesting stocks in many industries that you might follow. You don't have to act on every forecast, so I'll suggest that you work with a financial advisor who can help you choose the best times to purchase and sell the shares or ETFs you want to acquire
You should know it's easy and hard to make that much profit. I say EASY because it's very possible to make that much, and Hard because you'll need professional assistance to do it, I'd suggest you get assisted by a market advisor.
I'm an advocate for having a diverse investment strategy. I grew to a 5 figure mark with my portfolio having exposure to different areas of the market, including small and large-caps of the ETF index, blue chip stocks, coins, grade bonds and alternatives like cryptocurrency markets, as this helps manage the overall risk on my portfolio managed by my FA.. Credits to my adviser, Jonathan, i have no doubt investing more
This is impressive how could someone go about getting investment guidance from a coach like that, would you mind sharing your coach~info?
Elon said momentum management is why they are shorter.
So are they going to chuck some flower seeds onto the neighbours bare block to turn it into a garden for the staff to look out over from the officeblock ? 😂😂😂😂
The chopsticks are shorter to reduce their inertia and make them quicker to move and stop.
If the rail conveyor system is improved, then load capacity will also go way up. At least by the missing mass of the shorter arms, and probably far more.
Nice starbase and starship and etc.. . Chopsticks arms is little 😳🤔… 😉
Thanks for the video...wondering if the shorter 'chopsticks' are more sturdy, and stronger for catching...
The original chopstick trusses were designed to support a booster all the way out at the tips. The new design simply shortens them without reducing structure thickness. I suspect that this [at least] doubled the *_slew rate_* that can be achieved to catch a SH booster or Starship.
However, the original chopsticks were only load-tested near the center and the load rating of the new shorter arms *_can only be made higher by improving the load rating of the rail mechanisms._*
Technically tower rollout was after midnight so July 3 😉
The longer starship will need crutches
8:24 How do the SPMTs drive across the flame trench?
They wont. The stand will likely move over the flame trench and then all you need is to lift your starship on top and fire away!
Does ship 31 need to be retiled too/
Elon mentioned in the interview with Tim Dodd that the chopsticks will become shorter on future versions
The chopsticks manufactured in Florida are indeed shorter.
2:53 what are those nose cones? Could it be the V2?
Silver one is scrap, black and white is pathfinder for nasa moon lander.
Old Tank Fram?

👍👍👍🇮🇳
Better hurry there’s a hurricane coming
Old tank fram? What, do you have high school kids/nathan editing these? C'mon.
Hey Kirk, thank you for your ongoing support first of all!
I’m on vacation right now, and our more than able jack of all trades Jonathan (who has edited WAI Plus from basically the beginning) is the one editing right now.
Next to that, every WAI Plus episode needs a delicate balance between uploading as soon as feasible and maintaining the quality you know so well. During our quality control rounds, everything usually gets picked out, either by the editor themselves, or someone of the team watching through (me, today). Sometimes though, stuff gets overlooked and ends up in the final product. It’s a slight typing error.
We’re sorry, and of course will take a better look at it in the future, but we’re all still human.
Thank you for watching WAI Plus.
(Don’t discriminate age, we’re all learning every day)
Oh well, so much for a 😢 video
Thank god no Felix !
Felix is great
No he’s not
Launch area looking lean and mean.
I know why it shorter, but that thing is uh.... 🤏
