It made him a worldwide hit, (especially in Japan for some reason) and he did two more notable songs before he died of lung cancer a few years later at 57. He was completely at peace when he passed, declaring: ‘Whatever God wants is fine by me ... I've had the very best life. I have tasted beauty.’ Scatman John. Legend.
Well he speak about political stuff.. they say and do a lot of things that we don't know and not agree with it.. hidden message for sure with a good purpose
@kassandra odessa very true, just as kids want attention adults seek it the same and what's worse is that they decide to seek it in the internet, i feel they do it because they have a crappy life and want people to have the same as them, they can't be happy so they want noone to be happy and therefore they troll in the internet, try to start arguments in the internet, they want things to burst into flames in the internet and so on
@kassandra odessa what i have found very effective is to return the rock to the person that throws it, not directly but noticeable and not really pay attention to what that kind of people have to say for or against you, aslong as you figure out what has to be done to "fix" the wrongs nothing else comes between
For those who may not know, Mr. John is telling the listener to get out there and do whatever you want to do, because if he, a man with a pronounced stutter, can do something as amazing as sing and make a music video, then so can you. It's rather nice and touching.
What a guy. All of his songs are filled with deep, positive messages, combined with the goofy lyrics it just gives you the feeling that everything will be okay and you can make it if you believe. "Everybody stutters one way or the other so check out my message to you, as a matter of fact, I don't let nothin' hold you back if the Scatman can do it, so can you". Even if people didn't always get his message, his songs are still so much fun and brought joy to many. He suffered from severe stutter and he was ridiculed his entire life, but at one point he turned his stutter, his weakness, into his strength with these songs. Even though he only did this very late in his life and only enjoyed it for a few years before getting lung cancer, meaning he only got a few positive years and tons of years of being ridiculed, when he was close to death, he was still thankful for the life he lived. "Whatever God wants is fine by me ... I've had the very best life. I have tasted beauty." Rest In Peace, "Scatman" John Paul Larkin. 1942 - 1999. John Paul Larkin was born suffering from a severe stutter, which led him to an emotionally traumatic childhood. At 12 he began to learn the piano and later was introduced to the art of scat singing through records by Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong etc. The piano provided him with a means of artistic expression to compensate for his speech difficulties, and he "hid behind the piano because he was scared to speak." He became a professional jazz pianist in the 70s and 80s, playing in jazz clubs. In 1990, he moved to Germany and discovered an appreciative jazz culture. This was when he first decided to take a monumental step away from his insecurities and add singing to his act for the first time. His agent thought of combining scat singing with modern dance music and hip hop effects. Larkin was hesitant at first, terrified of being laughed at, worried that listeners would realize he stuttered.... so his wife, Judy, suggested that he talk about it directly in his music. Working with dance producers he recorded the first single, "Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)". After his first big hit, he adopted the new name and persona of "Scatman" John. At age 53, Larkin became a worldwide star. In 1998 he was diagnosed with lung cancer, but he continued his musical work despite being told to take it easy from his workload. He released his fourth and final album and shortly afterwards was sent into intensive treatment. He died at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 57. (for all the above, source: Wikipedia.) He was a kind soul that despite his health condition and horrible childhood was glad to have given others the courage to express themselves and felt grateful for having achieved fame even though late :) "If the Scatman can do it, so can you." He was the best. Edit: Thanks for the likes. No need to comment that I took it from wikipedia, thankyouverymuch, I SAY SO MYSELF in the comment, duh.🤭 (Read more carefully next time). I know lots of people wouldn't bother checking his bio, and I wanted them to know how great he was. That's all.

Scatman is so humble that in this song he tells that he isn't special, and everyone can be like him. All he does is scatting and if he can do it, so can you.
Came back to this song over the course of ~20 years many times. It's a good message, too. You shouldn't let anything hold you back. Even though your actions might fail in one context, you can try in another and still win. Oh the days when everything had a positive moral behind it.
As a child, this man stuttered. This was a cause for insecurity even later in his life. But you know how it goes; if the Scatman can do it, so can you.
Again here. I'm so blessed, swept away. Or simply addicted to this tune. If Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart would have heard this: he would dance on my Vienna wooden floor like hell.
I agree. It really changes the way you look at the song when you hear about Scatman John and how he got into this genre of music. Sad that the world lost Scatman John way too early...😪
My uncle is mentally disabled and this has always been his absolute FAVORITE song! Every time we have a family event, I always make sure to request this song to get him up on the dance floor so he can dance his heart out. He gets so into it and we always love seeing him so happy. It's the best feeling. :)
He was a great man. When he was near to die, he said that he had such a wondeful life, and, even he was dying, he fells happy cause he did everithing he wanted! Such a great message for us!
I always think of that when I hear this song. The exact quote was: "Whatever God wants is fine by me … I’ve had the very best life. I have tasted beauty.“
The fact that he can sing all that without losing his breath just shows how talented he is

That's all.
Thanks you very much for this testimony to his memory, I always wondered who he was 😊👍

You should be a stand-up comedian
Scatman is so humble that in this song he tells that he isn't special, and everyone can be like him. All he does is scatting and if he can do it, so can you.
Yay
Stutter: :). ;)
truuuue
Exactly! I just understood the lyrics.
Came back to this song over the course of ~20 years many times. It's a good message, too. You shouldn't let anything hold you back. Even though your actions might fail in one context, you can try in another and still win. Oh the days when everything had a positive moral behind it.
This reminds of my mom 🥲.. back when I was having a hard time with life . she always tried to keep me going ❤❤
1994 PEOPLE: THE FUTURE IS GOING TO BE GREAT.
2021 PEOPLE: LET'S GO BACK TO THE 90'S🥰
es exactamente eso...
hahaha 2021 and all is fucked up... , I in 1994 thought that today's the cars would fly and all things gonna be great...
Everything about this is so 90s, its heart warming and sickening at once.
Our future got sold out by the elite rich....
@@1974Qball This!
As a child, this man stuttered. This was a cause for insecurity even later in his life.
But you know how it goes; if the Scatman can do it, so can you.
He used it as a coping mechanism to his advantage.
:'D
oh so its just him trying to frame a sentence?
Thats so beautiful.
😄👍 brilliant
