I was 24 when I came out to them (1972). One or two of my siblings were tough to deal with (I am the youngest of 14). As time passed they accepted it. They didn't like it but they accepted it. What a wonderful world it would be if we didn't have to come out. If we could just be people.

Yes! For whatever reason, closed-minded people paint gays to as these individuals that only want sex and stuff like that when there are plenty of relationships that are hardly sexual at all. It's sad how gay relationships are looked at any differently than heterosexual ones.

Watching these series about these 3 guys that are in there 60s / 70s of age and telling about there life and story about who they are and there sexuality makes me smile and be proud of being who I am as gay male. I’m only 20 now. But I told my dad when I was 15 that I liked boys and he was ok with it. I’m a big depression and have mental health issues. I try to tell my mom but she doesn’t believe it. She think I’m straight and every girl that I bring home as my friend, she believe that I have sex with them and soon getting in a relationship and married. And that’s a one of the biggest issues I have with myself and feeling sad for. I sometimes think that if I was straight and having a relationship with a girl. she was gonna be more happy in life and proud of me if I was straight.
I’m always watching these 3 guys when I’m in a bad mood or sad.
I hope you all beautiful people in this comment section having a beautiful day.
Be always proud of who you are, remember that.
I hope that I’m not alone about this feeling and life point.

I know I’m not your mother but I am a mother. And all I want in this life is for my children to be happy and healthy. That’s why I gave them life. So that they could live it. I’m sure your mother feels no different. It dosent matter who you love baby, it matters that you are HAPPY. From a parent to a child, stop beating yourself up. You are who you are and that is not for anyone else to decide. You also love who you love and that is no more of a choice than the color of your skin. And just because you’re gay dosent mean you’re any different than the baby boy she held the day she gave birth to you. You’re still her son. You’re still important and valued. You’re still HER son.❤️

When she died, my mother spoke about it in hear eulogy, saying “She always wanted us to understand that gay is OK. Robert reminds me of my great aunt Dave. We called him aunt Dave because his partners name was also Dave, and he was one of my favorite people. He was soo lovable and he never had to tell anyone he was gay either, we just knew. He lived in PA and we are in MO, so we rarely got to see him but when we did it was always soo much fun. He passed away about 10 years ago from a blood clot and complications with his HIV. Yall just made soo many wonderful memories come to my mind, and I just want to say you are all soo loved and just wonderful 😊

I recently came out to my mom last week on my boyfriend and my 1-year anniversary. She's 66 next month, old-school in many ways, but she was so supportive! I didn't come out gay, I'm bi. But the stress and worries are still there. All the hatred from people is all the same. As soon as you like the same gender, no matter if you like both, they focus on 'same gender' and call you gay, throwing that hate all the same. But, my mom was so supportive. I even told her I have 3 pairs of thigh high socks and that I love them, and I caught her looking for new pairs for me the other night! I love her so much! I haven't come out to my brothers yet, but I don't think that's as important as coming out to your parents. Though, I'd love to be able to wear my thigh highs on cool or cold days around the house all the time instead of just when it's me and my mom and my brother is off at work. I love you guys, keep it up! You're such an inspiration!

I have such admiration for these guys. I find it somewhat ironic that the definition of 'gay' is light-hearted, carefree, bright, happy. Sadly my being gay has never allowed me to be these things. With hindsight I would have been better staying in the closet, and before other readers start shouting at me, this is simply my experience of coming out and gay life. I speak only for myself.

I came out during a confessional when I was 13 years old. That day was the best effin day of my life. That good old Priest stood up and got to my level while I was sobbing and said “you are child of god and i love you. I will pray you but I will always hold your hand during the sadness.” I was very lucky to have that. Most of my peers didn’t.
My family was a different story but they eventually came around. We are all human. We are all people. We should ALL be treated as such. The only thing that creates hate is us.

My girlfriend can't come out because she will get kicked out. She has been abused all of her life and her parents won't let her get a car or job. She is 18. When she tries to leave their house they physically restrain her. She is only allowed to leave 1 time every month for just 1 or 2 hours at a time. I know it all sounds crazy, I hate it for her. DFS has been called many times but they don't do a thing. She isnt even able to walk outside for a breath of fresh air. The only time I see her is on the rare occasion at school. Her grandfather is a pastor but he acts like a cult leader with his followers. I am out to my mom, her boyfriend, my brother, and afew homophobic cousins but my grandparents and gigi will probably disown me if I come out. Last time I went to their church, they said "the homosexuals are paving a road to hell" that was in my youth group. For backround I live in a small town in Missouri. Even doctors and therapist are bigots. My doctor told me I was going to hell when I told him I was depressed because I am gay, 3 therapist told me I was going to hell for being gay when I was telling them all the story about how my pastor told me that. Very unprofessional, but no one in this town cares. There is only one womens shelter but they don't have enough room for my girlfriend, either way she doesn't have a car, a job, or anything else. She only has me and our 2 other friends. She has depression, anxiety, PCOS, and several other conditions and she is constantly being abused. I can't wait to move her out of that damn house. So much that when we graduate, I personally plan on buying us an apartment and picking her up. I would love to live with my family a bit longer, but I love her and I need her safe. I'm tired of seeing her in pain. Her family never takes her to the doctor. She had covid and her family almost took her to the ICU but they didn't have enough space. That's how you know she was in alot of pain, when her family finally thinks about her well being.. I honestly wasn't even sure if she would make it. I'm tired of being so terrified for her. I want to keep her safe. She deserves so much better. She is such a kind soul and deserves the world. Anyway, sorry had to vent. I can't stand how closed minded people are.
