- The "march from Petersburg" or Petersburger Marsch is a military march, which has been common since the 1830s, but for whose origin there are various indications. It was probably composed by Erik Eriksson.

Fun fact: In Finland this is called Suomi-marssi(lit. Finland march) since it was composed by a Finn under russian rule. Nikolai I liked it so much he later gave the march to Friedrich Wilhelm III

Yes it is. The march stems from the Finnish composer Eric Ericsson. Finnland was during the 19th century part of the Russian Empire. In this time crown price William of Prussia (later the first emperor of Germany William I) brought the march from the court of the Russian Tsar at St. Petersburg to Germany. There the march became very popular.
