Guys.. it's called "8 Drum intros every drummer should know", *not*, "The most important 8 drum intros every drummer should know" or "The only 8 drum intros every drummer needs to know". If it's a missing your favorite intro, get over it!
dandymcgee ph intro
@@kevinsmod8879 I was thinking the same thing
I know but the fact that nothing by Neil Peart was there
Every once in a while you stumble upon a video of a guy who you've never seen before in CZcams and you become an instant fan. You're doing a great job with your videos man, and I'm gonna order that cd of yours. Thanks for the laughs!
Sometimes it takes 6 years to find them
Ear Elephant :/
You should write a drum solo and call it "Need a Shoe".
+Cap'n Mo That's a DAMN GOOD idea.
bonzoleum Heh. Tag me when you upload it.
Missing shoe blues
I love this guy.
James! woah nice to see you here
Two of my favorite CZcamsrs that's awesome privetricker!
Nice ! Thanks ! Do you have drum outro please ?
So much realer than the usual dweebs
Same here!
I like how everything is videoed in ONE TAKE...lol. "where's my shoe?"
Why you muting your ride when you didn't touch it?
If you play drums you will know.
i am doubting that too!
+Harsh Sharma ...it seems you don't play drums (too) ...
brachialmusiker just read the title again!
If am not a drummer then i wouldn't be watching this video which says - 8 drum intros every "DRUMMER" should know!
+Phrosda1 Z i'm not a drummer, but i'm assuming it's a resonance thing. some sort of latent vibration from hitting the other things that might be picked up in the video. again i'm not a drummer so i don't know if i'm right or not
This guy kills me looking around for shit lol. I can totally see myself hanging out with this cat if he was my neighbor. I wish my neighbors were putting boots on playing Steve Miller in their basement talking about Bonzo.
This guy is an awesome mess. I love it😂. Just shows that being yourself is the best. Ps. Love the drummer face with the tongue.
Thank you, Jesse! Awesome Mess is a great band name.
I totally agree, so much on u-tube is commercialized...
"Hang on doggy! You'll get walked in no time!"
That's all I needed from the internet today.
Gary Mallabar is very underrated, not only did he play on those Steve Miller Band classics, but he was the drummer on the Moondance album by Van Morrison.
Oh I didnt know that, Van Morrison is one of my favorites and really enjoyed the drumming!
love this guy, I wish I could hang out with him. Love his passion for the drums.
Love how you mute all of your equipment, even if you dont use it.
You're a great instructional teacher man keep it up. I've been playing for 7- 8 years i think you're explanations are great and easy to understand for other players! i too was greatly influenced by bonham when i was younger everyone who was a drummer was all into double bass and i remember just sitting in my basement practicing heal toe over and over and over to get those bonham bass notes hes famous for! love the videos brotha man
you're like the awkward dad drummer. lol
...Where's that confounded shoe!! :-D
I found out the other day my Dad wad handed John Bonhams drum sticks at a gig in the 70's!! He still has them! I'm just starting to learn the drums so I'll be getting those from him! I'll put a picture or a video when I have them
Why have I never seen this guy before???!!! CZcams recommendations are seriously broken.
Those who can't play teach but I like that you still have the spirit of rock and roll and have utmost respect for you bro.
This guy is so fuuny! I paid good money to watch this video and your wasting my time LOL...he is one hell of a character and an awesome drummer. Very talented!
The ad libs were fab ..... and boy can you drum !
You sir are as real as they come. I was watching a led zep vid and stumbled upon this video, Of a real musician playing what the heck he likes on the drums!!! I do the same thing on my guitar, and I don't care what people think. You even had the balls to look for a bloody shoe!!! XD... So thanks man, I'm definitely subscribing to your channel for more epic real videos!!!
Smells Like Teen Spirit, most drummers think they know how to play the intro correctly, but they don't. They never go out of there way to learn it, they just listen. It's a damn good intro
Same with Sober by Tool.
I absolutely love your intensity, your deep knowledge and passion for drumming, for Bonham. Your enthusiasm is genuine and infectious. One question: is that your home or do you own a drum warehouse? That is A LOT of drum kits :)
"Hold on, I need a shoe." Proceeds to put on a frickin Sorel snow boot! Priceless! LOL! 👍
Love this guy! Soooo Chicaaago! Very naturally funny personality and a good drummer with a good understanding of mechanics, chops and feel! Keep em coming man!
Terry you gotta bring back videos like this. Drumming and talking. So the feel of the video is like we are just hanging out with you in the drum room. Love these!!
Thanks Brent- I'm starting them up again.
This guy is hilarious. He should have is own TV show. I
when you know your art well you can have fun with it you are great to watch and learn from
"Where Eagles Dare" by Iron Maiden
Kevin Richards Rock the Stage NYC I ain't no goddamned sonofabitch, but that's a Misfits song:)
+Tunde Oszne I ain't no goddamned sonofabitch too, but it's not even the same fuckin song buddy. :0
This underscores the difference between "telling" and "teaching." You do a good job telling (showing) us how you play those intros.
1:05 is literally me raging
Terry, I love what you're doing here. Great playing but more importantly, you're very funny in a very genuine way (meaning - you don't seem to be trying to be funny, just being yourself). Keep doing what you're doing. You are providing a great service to all drummers and some much needed "lightness" in an often much too serious world.
Thanks again! You made my day!
Dude, you're crazy...but love your videos....fun, and always learn something...
latotayporota Thank you, brother!
I'm watching drum videos on YT since forever and it takes until 2020 until I find this legend. Hi from Ireland!
Love the Steve Miller one's! Gary Mallaber deserves more credit.
terry is really great. a little goofy. loves zeppelin, fun to watch, makes a great teacher.always entertaining.
Haha, the shoe!!!! Man, you need that shoe!!! :D You are damn funny even though you might not consider this as funny, its just a little lack of skill to play that beat like you want to, but I really enjoyed you man. We need more people like you! Cheers from Sweden!
Hey, if you are reading this, you should give your drum stick a little more tail. you are holding at the very end of the stick, which is giving you less control.
dont lift your sticks up so high. play evenly and make sure your hits are the same volume. I see how in order to hit your snare, both your arms move up higher. You should learn to play with your wrist and fingers instead of arm. (BTW im not being mean, im just trying to help a fellow drummer)
Shawn Igsberg I was gonna say that but I didn't wanna get bitched out by somebody lol
This is the funniest half way off the rails train wreck video I've ever seen with half way okay playing.
Man, I just love your videos. I just can't see how 801 people have no sense of humor.
I love your videos,...and I don't even play the drums. LOL
+Damien Eftekhar Thank you, Damien!
No problem. I watch you not only because you are WICKED good on the drums but you are funny as hell...I'm just waiting for the one where your wife yells at you from upstairs "Get off those damn drums and come wash the dishes!" LOLOLOL!!! I myself am a guitar player and consider myself a study of Jimmy Page. Good luck!
+bonzoleum Yeah, you are just a very genuine kind of person. Great on drums, but I imagine that you'd be entertaining just changing a light bulb or changing your shoes or...uh,...wait. You did just change your shoes...BRAVO!!! ENCORE, ENCORE!!
In many videos people lack personality :(
...but your videos don't lack (is what I meant)
Thank you Wyz!!!!!!
The Sweet - Ballroom Blitz
Deep Purple - Fireball
Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills (just for the recognizing)
Rainbow - Stargazer
A few nice ones...
I fucking love this guy! XD he's the best!
That's a BOOT, i'm a metal guy and I can think of many others. My 2 growing up, and what shaped me as a drummer were Caught Somewhere In Time-Iron Maiden........Where Eagles Dare-Iron Maiden. Then later on Dittohead-Slayer, and Killing Fields, 2 other favorites. Then of course some old 70's stuff.
8 DRUM INTROS EVERY DRUMMER OVER 50 SHOULD KNOW! old school
Bonoleum I dont have a lick of musical talent but I love drum solos and tutorials. Im really drawn to them and I love listening to isolated drum solos by Keith Moon and John Bonham
this guy is awesome. its actually funny haters come and watch the video and finish it so they can post some bullshit. you have nothing better to do with your time so i guess its sad really
Thank you, Morgan!
Morgan Rose Absolutely wonderful attitude. If only everyone had that outlook 😀
Your dog is named genius and you drum like a mad scientist!
How could you not have Run to the hills in this list?!
I know that I'm a bit late (8 years late) but as an honorable mention I would put fool in the rain, that's personally my favorite zeppelin intro
Is this guy on Coke
Prob
No he just has a personality.
true is just being himself dont judge
I'd have to agree lol
every drummer is
You should be on national TV.You can tell he is a super cool guy.
your cazy but your fun to watch !!! i and i learn from you ,
Thanks, Tony!
this guy is great! The way he shokes all the cymbals not used is fantastic! That super heavy snow show seems to be perfect to play drums
No matter how funny or wacky this guy is, he's still a good drummer though.
He's ok
JanReY C he's alright-ish but his double strokes on the bass drum are trash
JanReY C Great attitude buddy!
@@jacksonrichardson217it's been a while, still stuck playing in your basement? Or has the band or bands you've played in gotten anywhere yet? 😂 loser😅😅
Looking for a shoe and comes back with a boot.I couldn't operate a bass pedal with that on,it would constrict my ankle movement,I either play bare footed or I use my very flexible black shoes if I'm playing at a venue, but that's just me..as they say "whatever floats your boat",BUT,great video and keep it up.
Painkiller!???!!!?? Classic drum intro. Where is it?
+Ryan Alexander Bloom Amen.
+Ryan Alexander Bloom How do you expect him to play double bass with one pedal? lol
There was a famous ad in Modern Drummer back about 15 years ago where Scott Travis claimed that he could play Painkiller with one foot so long as he was utilizing the Iron Cobra pedal. This of course was a joke... but then again I wouldn't be surprised if Jojo Mayer said he could do it. There are videos of him playing quad strokes with one foot that might be fast enough. This guy in the video, maybe not. But I never said he couldn't use his other foot, just swap pedals out.
+Ryan Alexander Bloom painkiller isnt a basic intro every drummer should know, its pretty hard to play.
For some people a lot of these will be hard to play. Not sure why painkiller would be any harder to get right than 50 ways. Gadd fans would probably agree to that on any given day.
The boot made all the difference 😁
3:56 is when he gets “a shooooeee”
I can't stop watching your videos. You crack me up, and are so informative ...
Where's that confounded shoe?
Why so many dislikes? It is an informative video, not the best qualtity but it is still great
Cool vid! May I also say, Grand Funk...American Band?
+WinterGS AHHHH! I meant to put that one on there!!
I love how you played the intro to Take the Money and Run with the left hand on the open hi-hat. Why didn't I ever think of that?! It's so much smoother once you learn it.
There's something a little Walter White about this guy :) haha
yeah !!! i can imagine Walter going TO his practice space recording vids and playing drums but not telling his family about that haha
I am the one who drums
After watching lots of videos on drumming and such . You are hands down the best , whether that be a distinction made by those whom have knowledge in the art of percussion or not may remain to be seen. ..... Ok ,are they done watching??? You are the Shit! OMG Dude! I play my elect. Drums at least 4 hours a day , for four months now . I Love It So Much! I find it hard to sleep cause I wanna play . Yourock ,you're (one of ) my idol(s) . Thanks bro , Dave
Fawlty Towers meets a great drum lesson..
"Chock full o zeppelin" is what got me hooked..
I miss Fireball of Deep Purple. And consider a basic task.
Educational and hilarious, as usual! Give yourself some credit, man: You got the measure count correct the first time on Walk This Way. The intro is five full bars of the pattern you played, which is exactly what you did. It is toward the end of the sixth bar where they break as a lead-in to the vocals. Keep up the fun!
You're the eighth person to ask, so I'll whip one up for it.
Man I busted out laughing when you he started playing fast at the beginning.
Stargazer by Rainbow anyone?!?
One of the best ever. I like Helpless by Diamond Head too, even though it's simplistic
I didn't learn anything but the importance of having available footwear.... geez I cracked up!!! Fantastic video as usual.....
wow, i did not know this, that every drummer should know it, when was the meeting? why wasnt I called? i mean like i forgot to pay my phone bill but an email would be nice.
That's not a shoe, it's a boot! I'm impressed how well you play with a boot! Quirky but excellent. Great job!
How can you do a drum intro video WITHOUT hot for teacher?!?! Sacrilege!
agree
because it's double bass drum.
Rob Conger doesn't have to be. only if you suck ...take the time to learn how to double on the single!
+heatto jones well since the original is done with double bass it won't sound right with out it.
+heatto jones thats not how it works
Bahahaha a boot! your a hoot! thanks for the Video i enjoyed watching ,God Bless you & yours .
I really like this but you kept touching the drums and then you were going really quiet and you really need to edit this video, but apart from that this was so good you're posture and everything was perfect for o really do have some skills
He does. He's a great drummer, yet douchebags like me can point out stuff he gets lame on. I'm not a drummer but I have to deal with them. It ain't easy. Mute more desperately please.
The “touching drums” was most likely him muting the resonance ringing which might have been louder than what we get since some cams do have auto audio leveling.
"At sound checks, so their all like bongbongbongbongbong" LOL! so god damn funny, lol
This video should be called "Muting parts of the drumkit you didn't even play".
I fucking love this guy
Hot for teacher??
William Schaffer he cant play it...
Too complex?🤣
@@caydendesouza3138
You need double bass pedals.....
I think he wants to keep his legs working
That second last one is "What is Hip" by Tower of Power.
Leave it to a drummer to not be able to count
wdym
hi bonzoleum thanks for the video the bit looking for the shoe to washing Genius is hillarious :D
and I learned 8 drum intro's to boot ; ) Awesome job!!!
sorry you and your family was i'll glad your all better now :D I love your video's cheers m8
Are you Jack Black ? :D
+Genko121 Are you smart?
+Hearing Colours Are you gay?
+Mysterion53 Are you straight?
+Hearing Colours Only if you are ;D
+Mysterion53 I am unclassified. Sorry.
That's great very memorable drum intros . It's funny a couple drummers i know refuse to use hi hat . These songs are really melodic, even for the average drum kit. The hat is like an air hose ...add a little air
You don't need a shoe, you need an editor.
Yeah no kidding, 😂😂😂
Some people don't mind unpolished and unedited. It's more real cause realistically everybody makes mistakes. At least he isn't afraid to show the good with the bad.
Good times Bad times?
You edited your own post
ironmanbox iI
I love this guy !! Like that you touch everything to stop ringing even when they were not being played ! I also like your honesty and I like the way you play apart from the fact you have only one volume ....LOUD.
im a drummist and i dont know any of this , youre the liar
stop playing on the drums then
drummist
yes darleeing?
drummist :,)
drummist. interesting.
you are gonna pull a muscle with that technique
Nuclear Burn by BRAND X. It's Phil Collins on the drums!!! Here I play it crappy/improperly. There's actually no bassdrum in the main part of the pattern-I'm just stuck in Bonham mode....
No more excuses bro you are a good drummer but lack confidence, just let it rock and you will shine.
I NEED A SHOE!! Don't worry, most people on CZcams ain't wearing shoes either. Love you.
Dude your fucking room looks amazing to be in, just drums everywhere.
You should do a remake of the Monster Mash. you kind of look like Bobby Picket : ) Thanks for the video
motodrummer the monster mash, YES!
Haha, I watched it right to the end. I like the uncut version hahaha. If you lived in New Zealand we'd be buddies, I love Bonham, but I think either Pictures of home or fireball deserves a spot on your list :-) I would probably put Regatta De Blanc in over Murder by Numbers as well what do you think?
La Grange? Who do you love (that Bo Diddly beat - grooves might be a good topic for you to cover next, if you do be good to see the Bernard Purdie shuffle, fool in the rain, no quarter?
Thanks for sharing. Really interesting
BBBri57 Thanks Triple B!
also "Brick House", "Waiting for the Bus" "Good Times Bad Times".
What came first;" Murder by Numbers" the Police or "the Funky Waltz" by Alphonse Mouzon? so many good ones including the ones you did!
This first intro. is nothing more than little Richards drummer's intro to Keep a knockin Ck. out Specialty records early 50s . Don't know his name, but that cat was terrific.
