In the scripture, Draupadi reject Karna not because he's "lowborn" but because she's set her heart on Arjun , and she only used Karna's status as an excuse to give Arjuna a chance. She also knew that Karna is way stronger than Arjuna but love is not about how strong the man is right? Draupadi has her own karma to play, and getting married to Pandava was only the starting point of that journey.

He fails to string the bow in KMG's version, I believe. Draupadi rejecting him appears to be artistic creativity, which is understandable, because the Mahabharata has an extremely diverse portfolio of retellings, additions, and folklore to count.
I generally do dislike it as its an interpolation that does disservice to her character, but I believe a middle ground ought to be reached too. Maybe she asks naively "Did he fail to string the bow because he's a suta?"

Karna wasn't that bad of a guy. I wish they portrayed him a little better. Also, I'm not sure if you've seen the Disney movie, Arjun the Warrior Prince, but I think that was more of a realistic depiction of the story. The challenge Arjun had to face to win Draupadi's hand was not shooting monsters in space. I know 18 days is trying to do a different spin from the original, but veering off so much that the scifi becomes fantasy makes it a little less enjoyable for me at least.
