I absolutely take no offense but Angelina Ballerina is very loved in our house, or rather was when my daughter was young. It is now stashed away for grandkids. I like your comments. They are hilarious.
This brings back so many memories. I was in 3rd grade. This was my childhood. I wanted Kaya so bad. Im an adult now so will probably buy her to comfort my inner child lol
Omg, I spent so many hours poring over the AG catalogs, I would've been 10 when this one came out. And I had those AG mini rooms, they were fantastic!! My favorite AG doll was Lindsey, girl of the year 2001! I had Samantha too, as my "look-alike" (aka white brunette w/ bangs) Big fan of your Instagram btw, loving the videos!
Aaaaa, you breezed over a couple of the parts that were most fascinating to me: the post-millennium outfits added for the historical girls. The page you showed around the 16:18 mark definitely has outfits for Josefina and Molly that I have never seen before. I think they were outfits added to coordinate with the short stories, or maybe the mystery chapter books? Those outfits, as far as I know, were only available for a couple years and are considered extremely collectible. Anyway, I was also a teenager in 2003, and this was around the time I gave away all of my American Girl stuff (to the young daughter of my mom’s co-worker).
Omg the nostalgia you just brought back by flipping through this catalogue ❤️❤️❤️ I believe I was about 10 years old when I got my first American girl doll & that day is such a memorable one. American Girl holds a very special place in my heart that now I’m an adult doll collector, I’m in my 20s now. Thank you for sharing this !
You should start doing the catalogs from 1999-2006 or so! Lol. I remember my dad bringing the catalog home one day Christmas 2001 and that’s what started my obsession of the dolls but I want to collect all of the original 7-9 dolls that I grew up with including the best friends as well.
I was hardcore Molly as she was my first doll I got around ‘91? Then in ‘92 I got Kirsten and I think I kinda dress like a Kirsten doll now, lol! In 2003 I was 19 and in my opinion I feel like the non-historical stuff went off the rails, but also I am a book and history nerd and liked that those things tied down the doll concepts. Obv making money was more important! The American Girl magazine was great in the ‘94-95 range! I actually knew a girl in my neighborhood that got to be a cover model for the magazine!
Learning history through tangible contexts like material culture is the only way I can get into it. AG really excels at this! Isn't it funny how we always remember when kids we knew got to do special "famous" things, even decades later? One of my friends in school was a model for a magazine with children's clothes sewing patterns - and that was the coolest thing ever. She had the photos framed in her house.
i always wanted one of these dolls and looking through these catalogues was everything when I was a kid! i used to make clothes for my friends dolls :') lol
I love this video! I first meet american girl back in 2017 , when my cousin and I found her old 2007 catalog , It was introducing Julie! (70's girl) , I was 12 but really wanted one , my cousin would've gave me hers but she sold it years ago , and now I want Samantha! Her time period is my favorite! Might get for my birthday.
Hopefully my comments on Angelina Ballerina won't get me cancelled. THAT'S MY OPINION!!
OMG I couldn’t stop laughing

going through the catalogue when it came every month was almost better than playing with my american girl doll
I never had a doll to call my own, so I agree with this wholeheartedly. Catalogs are for the people, including the broke people!

Do it, buy her! You deserve the comfort.
Kaya is so beautiful, absolutely buy her!

You are so lucky that you had those! I had miniatures but nothing nearly this ~funky~. Thank you for watching!

I’m so obsessed with the “American Girl Today” era of the lookalike dolls. Everything about it is so cute 😭😭😭
I was obsessed with the green and purple outfit when I was a kid. Thanks for the memories Cole, love your channel!
Thank you, Sidney! Stay tuned for more AG content coming *very* soon.

"They know that they have gone off the rails... and they are completely committed to this" 😂 it's TRUE and I'm here for it all the wayyyy
Let’s all just give in to the madness.
i always wanted one of these dolls and looking through these catalogues was everything when I was a kid! i used to make clothes for my friends dolls :') lol

I love Julie, all her stuff is so fun and colorful.
I love the retired dolls on the cover!
I never had a doll but I did have one summer AG catalog from 2002 and I. Was. Obsessed. Looked at it every night.
Summer 2002... just between you and me, I think you are going to be pretty excited about my next AG catalog video ;)
@@ColeChickering ooOOoo! Can't wait 😁. I am so glad I found your channel! P.s. my favourite doll was also Josephina because of her items!
Kit wanted to be a journalist, so she was undercover getting stories from people hurt by the Great Depression.
This is so nostalgic! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it, Sarah!
oh my god imagine the nightmare type A child that longs for the datagirl 2
I know, like.... how busy could you possibly be, sis?
I came for the AG minis and I feel nostalgic!
I was 3 when this came out omg
Great job as always
I had the catalog the summer of 2003
Ag catalogs were so different back then compared to now
So true!
Tú eres un muñeco american girl,te pareces a uno de ellos, eres muy guapo. Saludos.
Thank you Ernestina, you are too kind. :)
Why do you skip so many pages?!?!!
ok last thing I HATED having the same name as that fkn nerd Molly 😭
From what I understand, Molly was highly divisive. People love her or hate her!
