Chris Chennell made numerous visits to Sharjah airport during the 1990s when the airport was at its prime for classic propliner movements when vintage Soviet era air transports ruled the day. Times have changed dramatically over the past 30 years and Sharjah airport is now a boring Airbus low cost airport that is no longer on the radar of serious plane spotters. But this video by Chris Chennell shows just how fantastic the airport was in the mid 1990s. Back then, for a small fee, plane spotters could purchase a ramp pass for near unlimited access to the busy ramp areas. The airport was a gold mine back in the 1990s!

Basically same as me. I got my hi-8 cam in Jan 1991 for my visit to fly the NWT Air last day of L-188 ops. I wonder if we have met as we would have a lot to discuss. Slides were/are still very much a big focus for me. Started slides in 1981. I have fully referenced the vide to you now. Thank you Chris!!!!
Thanks Henry. I started slides in 1975 up until digital in 2008. I used to live in the UK with Heathrow being my local. Since 2018 I now live in Atlanta. You’re well travelled like me!
Wow great to meet you Chris. May I ask .. do you know Chris Mak .. did you do these trips to Sharjah with him? Chris gave me hi-8 and non hi-8 tapes also from Sharjah there are at least several. This was one of the VHS tapes I think. I will put your name there right now. I am going to explore your channel too. What year did you start video filming?
Yes I know of Chris & Ron Mak not personally though.
I did video between 1993 to 2015 in between Kodachrome and digital photography which is my main love.

It came from C J Mak and he sent me about 100 of his VHS and high-8 tapes to digitize for my JetFlix TV service. With his compliments. He filmed many Sharja tapes, and this particular footage had no indication of not being his own so I had no idea it was filmed by you. What is your name? I can put your name on it right away in the title or I can take it down .. I look forward to hearing from you. By the way, do you have other video from the 1980s we could discuss??
