- Winter Camping in a Snow Storm - Buried Alive Survival - Heavy Snowfall Tent Camp in the North. ASMR and extended versions coming soon.
This was the most heavy snowfall I have ever experienced in the wild. I backpacked with my skis into the mountains of the north to camp by an amazing glacier and ended up being buried alive in heavy snowfall. The extreme weather was quite exciting, scary and beautiful and multiple plans where made for survival. When it was all over a new snow challenge waited for me, van life related, so, to be continued...❄️🏕☕️
Enjoy the winter storm camping video my friends from around the world, appreciate you all!

Another exciting adventure. I’ve just got my hands on a Nallo 3 based on your videos. Can’t wait to test it out. Thank you
Thanks Paul, that is very cool to hear, love your videos!
I, too, will look forward to your tent review & adventures with it in the UK.
AZ Claimjumper Me too!
@PaulMessner thanks for the mention in the review video, nice colour on the tent!
I just finished watching your new video, Paul, re: your new Hilleberg Nallo 3.

I'm always amused by click bait claims to be 'camping in a storm', or 'heavy snow' when there's a bit of breeze and a few flakes: Your videos on the other hand are the real deal.
I have noticed the same, just watched a "snow storm" video today with a few flurries in it lol! Thanks Derek🙏
What a beautiful solo experience. Such a gorgeous area and no one appreciates it. So you can enjoy all to yourself.
I'm so jealous. Just beautiful. I miss snow so much. When we finally did have a day of snow I did exactly what you did. I stood outside with my arms out just soaking in the moment. I appreciate your love for snow!
Thank you Cmarie!
This has to be my new favorite video of the channel! And even though conditions are extremely difficult you make it seem like it is just a simple fun camping trip 😅. Thank you for taking us with you in this beautiful adventure!
Thank you Nikos🙏
This happened to me in Colorado in 1991. A little scary. The thought of no oxygen is a daunting aspect.
Great clip Jarl !!! You never let us down.
Thanks Thomas!

One of the best best best snow caping ever❤
Thank you so much 307🙏
Simply amazing!! My wife and me also loving to make our winter-vacations with our van in Scandinavia because there it´s simply quiet, white and wonderful.
Greets from Germany! 🙂
Thank you Marcel!
Prelepa priroda prekrivena snegom.Hvala na prikazanom videu, svima koji nisu u mogucnosti to da dozive.Fantasticno!
Thanks for watching!
It is very peaceful watching the snow fall. I remember sitting in my previous apartment watching it fall...so soothing. Now I sit in my basement apartment with no windows that I share with my grandson. He has all the windows on his side. It's very depressing. I can't barely hear the rain when it's really hard. Instead, I watch videos like yours and it keeps me sane until gardening season. Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoy them and they bring you comfort!
What a great adventure! I love snow storms like that. Thanks for sharing tour experience.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you, Jarl, for taking your time, effort, & equipment to share your adventure with MEeee. At 1:00 o'clock in the morning out of an absolute necessity to keep from being buried alive, having to dress, go outside & shovel all that snow - knowing you'll likely have to do it again several hours later. I've never seen that much snow fall in such a short period of time & for such a long period of time.
I can really appreciate how good that HOT COFFEE was in the morning. Probably one of the best cups of coffee, ever.
I doubt few campers have ever had to dig out as much snow in the morning to retrieve the tent stakes as you.
Down to your knees while wearing skis, every step, unbelievable. Your situation would have been perilous without skis to keep you high enough above snow to where you could at least step forward.
I don't see how you're going to go anywhere in the van for a week or more.
Incidentally, Thermarest has a new XTherm NXT air mattress that is lighter, has a higher R rating of 7.3, is 1/2" thicker AND Western Mountaineering has a new sleeping bag with more Down fill, more loft, called the Bison.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.
Haha, it was the most snow I have ever experienced, and yes, it was indeed a great cup of coffee. Getting out with the van is another story, coming soon lol, thanks for all the support Bill!
@@NorwegianXplorer Did you see/read the additional information about Thermarest & Western Mountaineering that I added?
I think so, but I do not remember what you said though:-)
I see it now, did you add it? I know about the Bison, and the Thermarest you mention might be very close to the Max vapor that I own. I dont really swap my gear unless it breaks😂
the Exped Down-mat Dura 8R is way better than those cheapos... it is of superior quality
Hey NX! I am really impressed by how you are so relentless with your outdoor adventures. You embrace the moment. There is no time like NOW to do these things. We never know how many times we have left in our lives to get out there and do these things. Best to do it now and you certainly are doing that. As always, great content, production, quality and especially presentation! Cheers.
Thanks Rick, well put!
The extreme weather. Beautiful scenery in highest mountains as Himalaya Karakorum. Wow, winter in spring. You brave man.
Thank you very much!
haha Here i am AGAIN, watching for the 4th time! 😄

Sometimes i even have you on in the background, while I'm working! lol

Thanks again for sharing this video with us.

Wow, what an incredible adventure! Camping in a heavy snow storm takes some serious skills and preparation. Thanks for taking us along on this thrilling journey, Norwegian Explorer. Your determination and love for the outdoors are truly inspiring!
Thanks for watching!
👋Hi there Norwegian Xplorer,
Another delightful & enjoyable video, as always!
It's always good to see the snow, although of late, a few of my friends in Norge & across the US & Canada, have been telling me about the less than ideal snowfalls, or too much snow, plus weird weather patterns abound.
Although somewhat a nuisance, i guess it's to be expected these days. We just have to make the most of what we have, or don't have, for that matter.
It's always great to see you & others like you, just getting out there, exploring nature & enjoying life.
We are hoping/praying that we get to see the snow when we arrive in Northern & NW Europe, this coming Winter.
We'll also visit some stunning regions across Central & Southern Europe, so we're excited & we simply cannot wait!
Tusen takk for sharing & i wish you well.
Thanks! Hope you get a great trip when you travel here, weathee has been unpredictable and crazy indeed
@@NorwegianXplorer 👍😊🙏
I've had to re-watch this twice. This is my MOST FAVORITE video/adventure you've ever created. This adventure belongs in a class of its own. Thankfully there weren't strong gusty winds.
I can well imagine the effort required for each step with the weight of your boots/skis & having to lift each leg up to the height of your other knee. I can well imagine you wished a million times you had snow shoes instead of skis on the return trip to the Van.
And this adventure still has a Part II - I'm really looking forward to it & all the details.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.
Thanks Bill, I am glad you enjoyed it so much, I was super stoked when I saw how much snow was coming down, there will also be twice as long version of the video:-)
@@NorwegianXplorer I'm wondering - did you entertain any thought processes between Snow Shoes & Skis B4 leaving the van on your skis? Snow Shoes instead of skis is quite likely the one thing you would have differently..
@@azclaimjumper I never use snow shoes really, even though I have done it in a couple of videos for simplicity. I have snow shoes with me, but that would have been terrible. Snow shoes is kind of considered a no no in Norway and is mostly used by tourists from countries that dont know how to ski. Snow shoes limits you when it comes to going uphill or downhill and you can not slide forward on them and they are slow. I will always chose skis before snow shoes🙂
@@NorwegianXplorer I've rented snowshoes twice & found them heavy & awkward, perhaps because I'm not accustomed to 'em. Decades ago, I was an expert parallel skier, back in the days when I laced my boots & metal skis like Head 180's where all the rage.
Snow shoes for "tourists". Good one!😇😄😃😀
Head skis, yeah, I remember those from when I used to go to resorts. I agree with you snowshoes are awkward, I can get away with bringing one or no poles when I use snow shoes, so it makes filming a bit easier, but there is some truth to the saying "Norwegian are born with skis on their feet". First picture of me skiing I am probably around 2 years old😂
I think it was the first time I heard signs of anxiety in your voice , like a claustrophobic fear of really being buried alive... that was a real dump of snow but not a blizzard , else you would still be there 😅. Imagine having that kind of snow with 100 km/h wind ... all that time I was saying to myself , and now he has to reach his car and wait the snow plow , because no way he's out of there like that. And we have to see it in the next part , great ! A man wish for big snow one day , and the other day wish he was the hell out of there , a man and his contradictions 🤠😱 thanks for sharing
Big snow is great, but brings some problems along with it
Wow! 😮 I was scared for you! Look forward to part two 💪🏼
Thanks Gill!
Another great video. Looking forward to the next one! Snowshoes could come in handy as well. Best video adventures on CZcams.
Thank you, we dont really use snowshoes in the nordics, they are for tourists mostly.
Ay up buddy.
Wow, now that's what I call a proper adventure. Brilliant 👍🙂
Thank you so much:-)
17:28 like a baby :) Look like me when it snows. I love winter
Indeed!
Beautiful Norway, even when it’s suspended in snow. It’s good to hear you laugh Jarl and making the best of it all.
Thanks Vonda!
Tent routines at night, one being up at regular intervals keeping the snow at bay, exhausting work. I miss Norway, beautiful country. Not sure about the soup though. Great footage. 🇬🇧
Thank you so much, it was an amazing experience!
I was also out there in this same snowstorm! Luckily, my friend and I found an abandoned hut to stay in to prevent getting buried!
Oh wow, where were you?
@@NorwegianXplorer We were camping in the wilderness near Nikkaluokta. Got an insane amount of snow there, maybe half a meter in a night!
@@marcisthabest Cool, it was all over the place then
Mulțumesc ca ai pus si limba româna. Felicitari, excelent video.
My pleasure, thanks!
Wow! Did you sleep any? This is the best Snow King, lol. Yep your branded now bud. Haha. This will be the most re-watched winter video I'm sure. Love ya man, I mean King...
Lol, thank you so much Butch, really appreciate you, yes I did sleep, but was up many times:-)
A tent-punching good time! 🏕 Your shovel was the hero too! - WOW
Lol, indeed it was, would have been pretty helpless without
Now that's some snowfall...thanks for taking us along!!! Cheers
Yes it was lol, thanks for watching!
WOW!!!!!!
❄️
Fair bit of snowfall. Good tip on the trench around the tent. Wouldn't have thought of it myself to be honest.
I should have done it earlier but it worked for the night:-)
I remember my first scout camp in the mid 1980s. Sleeping bag from the Littlewoods catalogue comfort rating around +30 C.
Scotland in February. No Sleeping mats at all. Two nights of hell.
40 years later still wild camping, kit costs a fortune but works.
That is awesome!
I don't think I was that cold ever again, but I was too shy to tell anyone I was so freezing.
Another Amazing Winter Camping Adventure !! Beautiful Scenery. It’s Quite A Snow Storm , Good To Know You are Safe And Warm Jarl. Good To See You Made It To Your Van. Looking Forward To Part 2 .
Glad you enjoyed it
incredible!! I've seen a lot of snow in my life (New England) but I don't think I've seen that much in a single snowstorm. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Leland, it was quite the experience!!
Nor X,
What an exciting video to watch with such an abundance of snow. Had to be hard getting all out to keep shoveling. Then to walk out with skies going down to your knees. Can’t wait to see the to be continued part 2! Glad you made out man!
Glad you enjoyed it Sherry, a lot of work in the next video, planning on having it out Friday

Amazing I loved this beautiful video
Thank you so much Peggy!
Your lucky it wasn’t wet heavy snow my friend! I had snowfall in Canada that was as heavy snowfall. You did very well in the circumstances! Congratulations! I’m glad you had a Hilleberg as few tents could handle so much snowfall
Thank you very much Stuart, it was good snow:-)
Awesome. Thanks for doing that. Those snowy landscapes are beautiful.
Glad you like them!
Amazing, that nallo is as strong as an ox! Stay safe out there.
Thanks MRA!

Just wow!

What a great way to start the weekend. Thank you so much for a great video.
You are so welcome Stephanie!
Amazing. Almost seems reasonable to bring two tents. When one gets berried just set up the next one
Lol! I just bought another Nallo 3 with and extended vestibule, so maybe😂
Woow,so wonderful ..
Thank you! Cheers!
So much snow! Looks like it was a wetter snow that piles up quickly-you had your work cut out for you digging out, multiple times. Plus all the extra steps for filming. And the hike out in deep snow with a heavy pack. Looking forward to part II!
Thanks Robin, the snow was actually pretty dry until the next morning where it started warming up
Not for the faint of heart. Good video👍
Thanks 👍

Yes you are right about that, quite comfortable
Wow that's awesome. Great video.
Thank you! Cheers!
I’ve never done what you’re doing in this video. So adventurous! I loved your reaction shots and your commentary. I wonder what would have happened if you just left piled-up snow atop your tent and went to sleep instead of digging out?
Thanks Barclay, I believe the tent would have sagged a lot and then finally maybe caved in. I dont know how much air you would need to survive for a night, but I do believe there would be enough, it is a pretty spacious tent, but I am not sure:-)
Det var en vanvittig mengde snø😮 godt du kom deg ut❤

Wow-you certainly had the best tent for that load! Glad you’re safe-
I did, thank you Dee!
🇹🇷🙏 I will always follow you good luck 👍
An amazing adventure. I hope Hilleberg gives you some sort of notification to the great advert you are for their tents. I also wish you’d get yourself a bigger coffee cup for when your out as you use such a small cup it mustn’t be enough. 😊
Well, that would be great! The cup is the lid of my stove, so it is ok that it is small, very compact and lightweight, but I agree it is not much lol
I wish I was with you on that one, great video.
Thank you, great times!
Wow what an incredible video. That’s the biggest snow dump I’ve seen! Having been out in similar conditions I know how incredibly energy sapping that walk out in deep snow will have been. Out of interest, when that much snow is forecast do you not prefer a dome type tent for the structural strength of the poles crossing in the roof? Thanks for sharing a great adventure 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! This tent can take a whole lot of snow so I dont think about using a different tent, I just frequently kick the snow off the roof from inside the tent.
They need to make a tent with a see through panel!
There probably are, but they are not lightweight or strong
Καλησπέρα καλέ μου φίλε!!!!!!!
Good evening!
Loved the video as usual. Such a quiet camp and good food . ATB Gail from Worcester Massachusetts 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

This is great. Love to see actual snow load capabilities of 4 season tents. I posted a video last week, Burried in the Catskills.. my Black Diamond Hilight 3p tent got dumped on with 2- 3 feet of wet heavy snow.. held up perfectly!! All that snow for you.. maybe snowshoes would have made it a little easier? Couldn't say for sure as I have never used ski's.. you do sink with snowshoes too but it may have been slightly easier.. anyway, as usual great video!! I always look forward to your adventures!! Thanks for taking time to post and share!!!
Thanks!
Great adventure. I have watched many of your Mt Baldy videos from California. Great camera work. I can't wait to see how you get out of there with your van being almost buried as well. Cheers from Los Angeles.
