  • A video travel narrative about #Kyoto, the final leg of 2023's solo spring adventure and travel to Japan. Stopped by the following:
    The #Higashiyama district spots: #Kiyomizudera, #YasakaShrine, #Gion, #Ninenzaka, #Sannenzaka, #Hanamikoji, and then the #Kiyomachidori street in the #Kawaramachi general area, just on the other side of the #KamogawaRiver.
    The Kyoto city center commercial areas, #NishikiMarket and #ShinPuhkan, plus a #matchalatte in #CafeKitsune. Also stopped by #UjiCity and visited the #ByodoinTemple and the oldest tea house in the world, #TsuenTea.
    Sunset up the #FushimiInariShrine is also gorgeous. Also, do not miss #KyotoStation at night.
    Of course, #Arashiyama is always on the list, but other than the #bambooforest, my favorite, #AdashinoNenbutsujiTemple is just at the end of the #SagaToriimotoPreservedStreet.
    The #SaganoRomanticTrain is also an amazing sightseeing activity.
    Check out meals at #Saganoyu, #Chavaty and the #YubaCheese stand!
    Finish the day across the city at #PhilosophersPath.
    Four days is always not enough in Kyoto, so the next one will be soon!

    Excellent video once again! I have been to Kyoto thrice before, solo and with different company each time, but I still long to go back, to the same places I love that you featured here (Uji and Arashiyama, among others). Ryoan-ji and Ginkaku-ji I keep going back to, as well- so peaceful and beautiful! Kyoto just hushes and fills my soul! Thank you for bringing me back to one of my absolute favorite places to visit!

      Thank you! The crowds are inevitable in Kyoto’s main spots, unfortunately. I guess seeing the less familiar attractions would be best. Hi! Thanks for the great video. You mentioned that you traveled from Kyoto to the Osaka Airport. Can you let me know what is the fastest way to get there and how far in advance do you have to arrive with only carry on luggage?

    • @travjournal
      @travjournal  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi! To Kansai Airport, there is a direct train from Kyoto Station called Haruka Express. It makes a few stops along the way including stations in Osaka, but getting to the airport takes less than or around 1.5 hours. The train runs pretty much regularly, you just need to check the schedule. There shouldn’t be any issues with luggage.

    my only minus point for Kyoto is that most temples close around 5pm, while 99% of for example Tokyo temples are permanently open. This kinda threw me off on my first day and kind of ruined my planning.

    • @travjournal
      @travjournal  Před 10 měsíci

      I quite agree! As I was entering Kiyomizudera they were announcing that it was about to close so it was a frantic visit too. As far as I know Yasaka Shrine and Fushimi Inari are open except for the offices. My main issue which is common in Japan is that the coffee shops open later than usual - hard to get decent coffee early unless you’re getting it from the hotel or you’re fine with konbini or vendo coffee.
