  • A pair of Pseudetroplus maculatus (Orange Chromide) herding their fry in an aquarium .
They are one of the 3 native cichlid species found in India along with Etroplus suratensis (Green Chromide) and Etroplus canarensis (Canara pearlspot).
They show parental care similar to most cichlids. Observe how the parents flicker their darkened pelvic fins to signal danger to the fry. Typically the fry respond by either moving to the bottom or move closer to the parents.
These fishes can be found in both freshwater and brackishwater habitats and often live sympatrically with Etroplus suratensis.

hows the aggression? if i have a 90p with 6 tiger barbs and a breeding pair of these with lots of hardscape and plant cover to break line of sight, would you believe it would work out? cause i would really love to put these in my tank!

Once they start breeding they're very aggressive and best kept on their own
