- In this video we cover one of the most effective techniques there is in my part of the country, shooting docks. Getting a jig into those hard to reach places will catch you more fish there is no doubt. Follow along as I take you through my setup and catch a few crappie along the way. Hope you enjoy!

Just went for the 1st time today to shoot docks. You talking about very aggravating. Hoping to get better. Good video
Loved the video man, I dock shoot the exact same way. Keep rockin bud 🎣😎
Good video!!! Awesome crappie catches and nice shootin!! not only do you want to hold the head with the hook point facing the dock, you want to make sure your legs are out of the way, dont ask me how but I've seen 2 different guys on separate occasions load there rod back for a shot and bury that jig right in the side of there leg😆
I finally got you a ACC 66 2 piece. Dock shooter
FYI you should also show how to hit those spots with a Long pole where you can drop it right in same spots and keep it in strike zone longer.
You are making us better fishermen. Thanks for the experience you are sharing. Never too old to learn from others. Bless you in your endeavors.
Great tips. Awesome video.
Great video! You really gave good instruction on how to shoot the jig well under the docks. I had seem something similar before but your instruction and examples are clearer. I will put this to practice this year, thanks!
Great video, thanks for sharing. I just ordered a 5’6” acc crappie stix dock shooter today 🎣
Thanks for all info about how you do it.
Another great video, Brandon! Thank you!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for sharing your fishing techniques
Thanks for watching!

Absolutely!!! Really enjoying Brandon’s videos 👏😁👍👍
Really appreciate the kind words! I enjoy making these videos and I hope I can pass on some knowledge that helps somebody along the way. Good luck on the water!
What!!? That wild. That summer!
I got a two-piece 66 A CC Dock shooter
I have the exact rod and I love it for crappie fishing.,
Really enjoy your videos!
Thank you!
Great video brother thanks for all you do I am new to fishing trying to learn all I can I enjoy the videos
Hope they help you learn! Thanks for watching!
Howdy Lester! Just bought that exact rod off MidwayUSA, I can't wait to try it out. Keep up the videos, your wisdom is appreciated!
Great video on dock shooting.
Thanks!
good video...i like a 5.6 rod for shooting docks. 1/32 head all the time.
Nicely done, keep it up.
Thanks for watching!
Do u do like count down to know how deep it’s going or how do you know how deep it has fallen thanks
I think the part of this that confuses me is what exactly controls the trajectory of the jig?
It seems that where the rod tip is pointing when the jig head is released does not seem to matter. Is that correct?
In some cases there looks like there is only 6” or so between the surface of the water and the bottom of the dock so I’m just wondering what exactly determines where that jig is going to go when it is released. I’ve never shot docks and I guess that is pretty obvious.
Thanks
Informative video. Thanks. I repect fishermen that gently lay fish back into the water.
Thanks for watching!
Great video!
Thanks!
I was all about it! Then you released it! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Judging by the extreme angle of the ramp to the floating dock you were fishing behind the water level of the lake must be down???
Awesome man!! BnM makes some great rods. Got a 7’ Sam Heaton that I love. Great video as always!!
I’m liking mine so far. Thanks for watching!
I love watchin' you go all Wally Marshall on me! Happy New Year Brandon.
Happy new year! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video Brandon 😁👍👍. Been tough here on our home lake. Got 2 in ice chest (3 days work) and need 2 more to make a meal. Was 2.5 weeks before I got these. Tough going but will keep on keeping on! 👍
That does sound tough. Hang in there! Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed the video, I saw you on the water Sunday at Tim's, me and my son caught some good crappie that day and then started bass fishing ,best 5 19lb 12 Oz and caught them in 15 min
Sounds like you’ve got it figured out. That’s a heck of a bag for this time of year. Thanks for watching!
@@BrandonLesterFishing just luck right place right time
good overall video but can't see what YOUR TARGETING which is the whole key
BTW I just bought that sharpshooter BNM when saw it was on sale but havn't tried it yet
What psrt of lake you fishing?
I have the BnM Sharpshooter Six as well. In my opinion its the best BnM they make. 👍
I like it so far. Wish it had a little more tip but other than that I like it. Thanks for watching!
I'm thinking about taking my 6 yr old on a weekend trip is Tim's a easy lake fish
I wouldn’t say it’s easy but find you some good bushy treetops on a bluff bank you should be able to catch a few crappie. I would consider getting some live minnows and rigging them up on a slip cork to keep the little man interested. Hope y’all catch a boat load!
He loves to fish
Good video. Would love to meet up with you sometime and do a video together. I am no good at dock shooting, but working on it. Fish TN several times a year, in fact going to Reelfoot this Tuesday to fish! Enjoyed the tips!
Always heard good things about reelfoot but never been. Thanks for watching!
I used that nickel and lead head almost exclusively they seem to be really attracted to that nickel head. I use it over chartreuse, pink, or white.
Try the bass pro shops panfish elite. For 80 buck I don't think there's a better rod. Awesome video!
I’ll have to check them out. Thanks for watching!
Oh damn I done hooked my wrist !!! Lol. My prob is timing. More than anything. It's kinda tricky. But dang if u ain't nailed it bro.
It is tricky at first but with time you’ll get the hang of it. Thanks for watching!
if you have a concrete floor in garage, set a chair about 15 feet away and practice skipping jig under that chair. when you can do that everytime just move it away 5 feet and shoot somemore.
@@trashtrout now that's a good idea. Imma try it. I def need the practice !!!
I noticed that you have no line twist. How do you overcome the line twist?
Thanks for the info Brandon. Ive been trying to get a grip on this whole dock shootin thing and sometimes I can get a good shot but most times it takes a couple try’s to get the jig where I’m trying to put it. My question on this is I’m using braid with 8-10 lb fluorocarbon leader. Does it make any difference using straight fluoro or mono rather than braid with a leader?
I think the stretch of mono helps with shooting. I’ve tried it with braid before and it didn’t work as well for me. Straight fluro would probably work good too, it’s something I plan on experimenting with soon. Thanks for watching!
@@BrandonLesterFishing thank you… maybe that’s why I wasn’t being very successful. I will try strait mono and see
Brandon after you fishing with this rod what is your opinion on it? Would you buy another one?
Can you give your Professional opinion and tips on spooling a reel and keeping the line from having a twist and if size of reels matter? Stuff like that… not just for dock shooting but all your crappie rods!!
And hey have you ever done any vertical jigging with a long rod? 11-12’.
Basically high tec cane Pole fishing
We don't do much jig pole fishing in my part of the country, besides a few guys who spider rig. It is an effective way to catch them though. I have a video on my channel about spooling a spinning reel to avoid line twist. It should answer your questions. Thanks for watching!
@@BrandonLesterFishing thank you…. Really enjoying your channel!!
you did your body when you shoot it and block your target
Bout to pick one of them six shooters up!
Good video 👍
OHL still sux.
Thanks for watching!
Good video Brandon , your a fishing machine. Do you think jig head color makes a difference on most days or just when they are finicky . Thanks for sharing
Some days it doesn't seem to matter, but some days it definitely does. You sort of just have to play around with it and see what works.
Couple of questions:
Noticed you were not using those crappie nibblers like you have in past videos. Any reason?
Your line seemed twisted after fishing a while. Is that normal with shooting a jig under docks?
Thanks for your time!
The slab bites are pretty soft. I haven’t tried them when shooting docks but I would imagine them skipping across the water would cause them to fall off pretty quick. I will use them more for casting and open water stuff. I don’t remember my line being twisted any but the biggest cause for that is not getting your jig rigged perfectly straight which causes it to twist your line every time you reel it in. Thanks for watching!
@@BrandonLesterFishing thanks for your time in replying!
👍
Man that one crappie was a black nose don’t see too many of those
We catch a lot of them around here. TN is one of the states that stock them in our lakes and they do really well. They are cool fish and hard fighters too. Thanks for watching!
