Loved this incredible man. So honoured to have met him and hearing him teach The Word and perform his Worship songs to Jesus in his Church back in Kent.
I wish those of us in America could have experienced that maybe someday somebody will grace us with video of Ken teaching the Word 😢
Ken was my idol when I was a teenager. Uriah Heep's most beautiful compositions were written by him. It's good to know he knew Lord Jesus, and left to His presence that way. To God be the glory. The Return is a beautiful song. So is The Joy of Knowing Jesus.

I always liked Uriah Heap, they had some really good songs. I absolutely love this song, a song of hope. I'm so glad Ken Hensley found Christ and in his last 20 years of life shared the gospel with the world through his music. RIP Ken Hensley

У меня был друг занимался звукозаписью в очередной раз подарил огромные снимки групп кисс Бони м ютту Депп перпл и конечно наших хипп они дожили пока выросла дочь она была в восторге от этого коллекция умножалась и любовь к этим группам тоже мне сейчас 62 года а я по по-прежнему счастлива слушая эти вещи люди будте молоды и помните свою юность

Here, Hensley's feels the need to communicate a "Truth," a responsibility to all Men. Such a great version from Visible Faith album. You can re-hear the influence Ken had on 70s Heep.

I've liked Uriah Heep since the 70's. This is a a great song. Its one thing to stand in front of a church full of people and sing of the 2nd coming, but it's entirely different profession of faith to do so in front of a concert crowd. That is what it's about. Great music, and a great message.

This song is from the 1999 CD "A Glimpse Of Glory". Ken Hensley became a born again Christian in the 90's I think, and when he was promoting this CD in 1999 in St. Louis, Missouri where he lived for a few years, (I actually went to see the Glimpse Of Glory show, I was also living in St. Louis myself at the time; I lived there for I think 23 years) he played this song (The Return) as well. I bought the CD at the show and I met him and his wife as well. He was so kind to sign the CD for me, I however have no clue where I put it. He is a great song writer and musician and a VERY humble man.

I have read some of the comments about Ken Hensley and this particular song that were positive and then some negative. It is no surprise to me that he would continue writing about the struggle between dark and light, day and night, God and the Devil. Let's review some notable songs he wrote with Uriah Heep. Easy Living is about the path of life where Ken was walking, falling behind in the Spirit, and then he finds forgiveness in his path of life, and thus the Lord took His place in Ken's heart. Also Circle of Hands, which in the album Demons and Wizards might conjure up the idea of seance and some Druid pagan forest cult, actually talks of cold spirits plan, searching my land for an enemy. Came a Cross, Love's sweet cost, and in the Face of Beauty, evil was Lost. Ken must have had an education (at the very least) in formal Christian doctrine or simple reading of the Scriptures to speak of God's method of redeeming man from the Devil and Satan and Death by means of the Cross where Jesus was crucified. "For He (the Father) made Him (Jesus-the Son of God/Son of man) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5:21 Instead of seeing a definite time where onlooking fans say, "Well Ken must have gotten the Holy Ghost." What I see is the Lord using and fashioning His clay figure, which He gifted in the arts of music and writing to influence Ken's audience to look higher and still higher from the darkness that surrounds us all. The horrors of war and bloodshed and political strife (Rainbow Demons) to a better time, a Paradise which shall be when King Jesus shall return to take His people home to His Father's house.

I never before heard that lyric that way, and it wasn't published that way, but, Ken has many times said he thinks God was often working through him in Ken's younger years, even when he (Ken) had no idea that was the case.... Now instead of sounding like some mystical, vague, probably drug induced "huh, what does THAT mean?" line, the meaning is crystal clear, describing the ultimate sacrifice of beauty no human can fully comprehend, and a gut punch that brings one to tears just considering that gift and its price. Doggone you Tim A.! I have to get much done today, and you (or well, actually God working through you and Ken) have reduced me to a sort of stupefied, almost crying awe. And I am a long time believer & grown man (in his 60's) who's seen a lot... Oh...BTW, great comment, and thanks (You and Ken and most of all...)

@@chuckie6488 Yeah Brother, I was just thinking of Ken's lyrics as one who would appeal to hearts and minds in a spiritual sense. If anyone was most influential in diving the messages in Uriah Heep it was him. I really don't know his mindset, his heart whether my interpretation is correct, but that is what I derive myself from his lyrics and keyboards. Loved his Genesis (The Gods) album as well.
