it took me a good 4 or 5 months for my palate to expand enough that my tongue could fully seat against the roof of my mouth with a good seal. now it's pretty effortless to keep good tongue posture. before that, i was using tongue chewing with normal gum. but now, i just use suction - i feel it applying more pressure laterally against my molars than up. my teeth are a little bit straighter, but i don't think it would be enough for anyone with major problems. depending on how narrow your palate is, it might just take extra time
